This is pure speculation on my part, but I think the Colts are fairly certain Peyton Manning will play week 1.
If Peyton wasn't a go for week 1, they'd certainly have Kerry Collins get full speed game reps with Collie, Wayne, Garcon, and Tammie. I don't think they'd be comfortable starting Kerry in week 1 with no game reps with the starters.
Note: Kerry Collins started the game, but none of the other starters were in except for the offensive line.
