Bengals vs Lions (1 Viewer)

I'm really surprised there isn't more O'Sullivan buzz in here. The guy looks very comfortable in this system and Martz has raved about him. If Martz could take Warner from the arena league and make him a star, I see plenty of reason to be optimistic about O'Sullivan. He comes cheap now in dynasties, so why not roll the dice?
Has he been in yet?
Uh, yeah nearly the whole first half. 12/19 for 225 yards with 1 td and 1 pick

WOW What a game ...Crazy ending... :link:
 ;) anyone who says preseason football is a joke needs to watch that second half. what a fun game. I love watching guys trying to make the team give everything they've got. They are still college stars playing against other college stars. And they always have more intensity than the NFL starters...great comeback by the Lions. Troy Walters is still very fast.

Shaun McDonald also looks VERY good. made some nice catches. His long td also illustrates perfectly what kind of impact Calvin has...both safeties went to CJ and McDonald ran all alone right down the center of the field.
Thank you. Just checked the stats, don't get the game out here. 5 / 146 / 1 seems impressive. Any more impressions on how he's playing?IOW, can he be the #3, or is that Furrey for sure?
McDonald played ahead of Furrey last time Martz coached them both.Wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. He'll get plenty of PT one way or the other.

Furrey played DB in STL. Furrey is #3!!

I just want to remind everyone how stupid the Lions were to IR Stanton... Obviously, being hurt he wouldn't be playing now, but seeing all the scrubs, remindind me of how I'd like to see a young QB in the game at this point...
Stanton is out 8-12 weeks...it makes no sense to NOT put him on IR...they can't just save a roster spot for someone who can't play. A rookie QB is useless if he is out that long.

Furrey has the #3 job locked up. He looked great in practice and just seems to get open in the middle of the field. He is solid. McDonald is good too, and like a previous poster said, the 4 wide sets are going to be very hard to slow down.

Calvin made a great catch, he went way up and picked one out of the air.

On the long pass when McDonald was open by 20 yards, the safety who should have been there went to Calvins side of the field.

Furrey was moved to DB in St. Louis after failing to crack the depth chart at WR.Furrey may be the #3, but McDonald isn't just an afterthought. He'll be on the field plenty.

Everybody keeps saying Furrey is the #3, is it so unbelievable that "Mr. 98 catches" could be #2???

Mike Furrey is bigtime value late in redrafts this year. He will outcatch Calvin Johnson in everything except the TD department IMO.

He just had surgery on his knee, were you expecting for him to be out there on the field with his crutches?

Rudi J 5 carries 32 yds; 1 catc 7 yds :hophead: Tinker Bell 6 carries 19 yds:own3d: As a Kevin Jones owner, this is great news. I expected Tinker Bell to be useless like he has always beenMike Furrey 1 catch 23 ydsAs a Furrey owner in a WCOFF Sat league, this just shows what I always thought. He will continue to be very solid in PPR leagues. Calvin Johnson has not yet done squat in this league. As a Carson Palmer and Chris Henry dynasty owner, I am thrilled. Henry is a beast if he can just keep himself out of trouble.
You obviously didn't see any of the game. Three third down blitzes by Cinci, 3 excellent blitz pick-ups by Tatum Bell. Thats the kind of thing that earns you playing time in a pass happy offense. Bell's biggest problem is that the Lions offensive line still can't open a hole, but he had one great run on the one hole he did have. The Lions first team defense still lacks any semblance of a pass rush (Dwayne Wright (?) didn't play). Francis the rookie from Hawaii was a man against boys on many plays against the Bengals 2nd teamers if that means anything, but he may be playing ahead of Kalimba very soon. The Cinci first team offense clicked, but bogged down in the red zone against a bland mediocre defense, so they have some work to do. They are going to miss Henry for the first 8 games.

Tinker Bell 6 carries 19 yds:bye:
this does not surprise me. when KJ is healthy it is his job
WHEN, may never come.KJ is still feeling the effects fromthe Lis Franc Fracture. I don't think he will ever bhe the playerhe was before the injury.
What effects? That isn't what I heard.
:bowtie: camp reports say he's out running and cutting in non-contact drills and feels fine. Jones himself said he expects to start week 1 and that his rehab is ahead of schedule.

Watched the game. This is what I learned:

O'Sullivan in the #2 QB FOR SURE

Shaun McDonald will be a nice WR4 for the Lions, will probably have 2-3 big games this year.

Tatum Bell is the one you want there. He didn't play much, that says something.

Nobody knows for sure......I come from the line of thinking you have to prove it to me first, especially in Detroit. I have watched Charlie Rogers and Mike Williams become guys that can't even make a terrible team like the Lions. So, when you have a guy like Flurrey who just caught nearly 100 balls and over 1000 yards.....and people tell me he's gonna be 3 or 4 receiver on the team, I'm like OK. That maybe true, C. Johnson may be a stud and I hope he his, but if I have a shot to grab Flurrey in the 14th or 15th rounds, that isn't a bad pick. For one, the Lions are gonna throw for a tons of yards this year, so if he turns out to play more than the "experts" think, then he's gonna be a solid producer. I won't be afraid to grab Flurrey late in drafts this year.

Bell didn't look as bad as some are insinuating. He blocked well and ran relatively tough. He didn't have a whole lot of room to run. The line wasn't opening many holes for him. I was hoping to see a pass thrown to him...To me, thats going to be a major factor in his value going forward (aside from Jones). The only pass that was thrown though, was uncatchable in the dirt.

I respectfully disagree. He was too hesitant hitting the holes. On a couple of his runs, there was a hole, but he chose to dance behind the line. Overall, the run blocking was below par, but it doesn't excuse the dancing behind the line on a couple of plays where the hole was there. He was solid in pass protection.
