Bengals waive RB Kenny Irons (1 Viewer)

"The Bengals anticipate that injured running back Kenny Irons is going to clear waivers Monday. At that point he'll most likely return to the club and be put on season-ending injured reserve.

One bright spot for Irons. Lewis said he's about where Chris Perry was last year, and Perry looked like the old Perry Monday morning. He did what he was doing in the spring, sticking his injured ankle in the ground and getting up field."

I took a flier on Perry in my Dynasty League. I know the guy is oft injured but the guy is incredibly dynamic and has a nose for the ball when healthy. The league minimum in my main dynasty/contract/salary cap league is $500K. The cap is $32 milllion. I signed him for $600K. If he doesn't do anything I can use him for WW fodder, but if he can, the guy can be money if Rudi falters....

Update:

After passing through waivers and being signed to the season-ending IR list, they waived him again...

For Good...

His knee must be completely hosed or there's some off the field stuff that happened recently.

Or maybe the Bengals could of also finally come to the conclusion that Kenny Irons was the biggest reach in the 2nd round of last year's draft. Never understood what others saw in the guy.

Glad I didnt overpay for him in dynasty to backup Rudi last season (Also glad I traded rudi for turner). Anyone think they may bring in a FA older back for a 1 year stint?
Sean Alexander could conceivably end up there given that he's from the area.Count me in the surprised camp about Irons, although I guess they could always re-sign him to the practice squad.

If nothing else, Rudi is looking better and better as a value play. I don't see the journeyman Watson or the eternally banged-up Perry as major threats.
Watson has spent 5 of his 6 years with the Bengals. How exactly is that a journeyman?

Oh, absolutely. I'm sure the knee injury had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

I disagree. I'm sure the injured knee is the biggest factor, but it's much easier to outright cut an injured player who doesn't have much talent.

The Bengals really liked him leading up to the injury, he was turning heads in camp, and had "big things planned" for him that season before the injury. :X I think his knee is hosed or there's something off the field. Like Anthony said though, we'll never know.
