Bernard Scott - This week only (1 Viewer)

as far as LJ learning the system, can anyone tell us how the blocking schemes relate between KC and CIN? how about the lingo/play-calling?

FWIW, i see Benson sitting, Scott starting, Leonard getting a few carries and kick returns, and LJ dressing but not sniffing the field.

Does anyone know who's getting the first team reps in practice these past couple of days? I know LJ spent a lot of yesterdays practice reviewing the playbook, but I think these next two days will tell us a lot, especially Friday.

Jason LaCanfora on Twitter @ 3.50 PM today:

Bengals players not expecting Cedric Benson to go Sun, but LJ geting a nice work load in practice.

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/11/19/bengals-rb...out-vs-raiders/"Bengals RB Cedric Benson likely will not play Sunday against the Raiders after missing practice again with a hip injury, according to a league source.

Benson’s teammates would be surprised if he is able to go.

Recently signed RB Larry Johnson has received an ample workload in practice, according to the source, and could end up playing a significant role in this weekend’s game."

To all those dimissing LJ - this is not like a new QB or WR stepping into an offence.

Rooke RB's are usually succesful because they can step in and contribute right away - there is not a whole lot a RB has to learn to be able to contribute. Basically Palmer just has to tell LJ which hole to hit or if its a sweep left or right he has to be able to read his offensive line.

RB is probably one of the easiest positions to transition from one team to another in football.
No. It's not that simple. It's also a matter of protections, picking up the Blitz, and not getting your QB killed. I think we saw what happened when a backup QB ran this Offense last year... yes Larry could hit the correct hole. But Leonard and Scott should offer better protection for Carson, especially since Larry has struggled with Proection anyway. Lastly, its the Raiders. (No offense, AL) Why would Marvin risk Palmer's health even in the slightest... when they're playing Oak.

LJ doesnt play this week, I don't care what Marvin said in his second Presser.
:lmao: LJ is not known for good pass protection.

T. Jones or Bernard Scott?

Jones is having a great year, might be able (if he gets majority of touches) to catch lightning in a bottle with Scott though.

Wouldn't be suprised if Cinc got up big and starting running LJ to get him acclimated to offense.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

nice, only mookie blaylock could have reeled off that quote so quick...

Larry Johnson's Role Depends on Cedric Benson

This story speculates that LJ will dress if Benson is out, which I expect.

I guess I just don't see LJ getting many carries this week unless there is an injury to Scott or Leonard.

I think Scott will start and get the majority of the touches, Leonard will get some 3rd downs/short yardage, and LJ will get a few carries depending on game situation.

And yes, I understand that Benson came in and took over the starter's role with little time on the team last season, but the Bengals didn't have any other options in their backfield.

The Bengals loved Scott in training camp, and he was the player that received the majority of the touches against Pittsburgh when Benson left the game. I think he'll get a decent opportunity to show what he can do against Oakland, and he'll be successful.

It doesn't make sense for the Bengals to completely flip the depth chart upside down when LJ signed just five days before the game.
It only makes sense if you think LJ gives you a better chance of winning the game. And that's not in the least bit crazy.
I think Otis is going to be very disappointed 2 days from now...

I dunno. If Benson is a no go I think both theses guys post over 10 pts. The raiders run d SUCKS. See whar two headed monsters have done vs them (NYG esp), combine that with a FURIOUS pass rush that would likely eat Cassell and that O line alive, why not run on 70% of the plays?

LJ now saying he does not expect to get a heavy load this week. He refers only to Scott and Leonard. Seems like regardless of Benson maintaining that he is a GTD, everything LJ is saying seems to clearly indicate that Benson is not playing.

Read Reddys chat log linked to that site. A little better perspective there.

If he's returning kicks, does that mean he won't be getting as many carries? Starting RBs don't usually return kicks. Makes me worried about starting him now.

If LJ gets around 8 carries I would think that leaves Scott with a floor of 15 carries and a ceiling of 20 doesn't it?

I have no idea what to think of this situation. Screw it, I am just going with Santanio Holmes over him. I can't trust this situation.

119 yds rushing on 21 carries w/ 3 receptions for 32 yards. If only his QB hadn't vultured two TDs on one-yard plunges.

the kid was smooth, quick and can make people miss.

that being said, this is cedric benson's team this year and next.

2011 though watch out.
