Yes..Wellness is one of the few natural pet food companies that still have one plant and complete control over their products. Blue Buffalo does not even make their own food anymore and just lost a huge lawsuit about what is really in their food. Purina just bought Merrick so that will be going down the tubes in due time.

I get spending a little extra to not give your dog crappy food, but this is insane

Ding ding ding! Vets are as much under-informed as anyone. Most typically aren't doing research on dog food manufacturers. Best they can do is suggest a particular protein to feed (and are usually wrong). Iams, Hills/Science Diet is crap. Might as well feed Purina. Their advantage is huge marketing and they supplement that by being the "food of choice" of vets (they get free samples and discounted rates). Gets even worse when they provide "grants" to local animal shelters and the unknowing who are adopting a pet learn that the shelter is feeding SD so they assume that's a quality food.
research the vet, then feel dumb.

I have recalls on that crap food, see above. On top of that there are numerous crap ingredients in their ingredient list.Look at your bag of dog food. Does it have by-product listed? If so, it's crap. How about beet pulp? Crap. Iams, way back when before P&G bought them out, was a decent food. Now, it's crap like all the dog food made by P&G. Feel free to keep playing roulette with your pet. I'll pass and feed my dogs a better food. I've experienced tumors and other ailments that shortened dogs lives from crap food. My dogs are much healthier now on good food.
True, I was late to the party. That's why two of my dogs died within months of each other via tumors likely from crap food. Now the research is there. If you choose to ignore it, that's on you.
