Well, that is a fantastic list. Iceland and NZ are fantastic bang-for-your-buck, as is Morocco, though I don’t think Iceland is quite diverse enough for me to put it #1. US maybe best overall (thanks, 49th and 50th states!). Can’t argue with Chile as a top contender either. Throw Argentina in the same mix?By Nation. Whatcha got?

Iceland keeps a dream-like residence in my mind.Well, that is a fantastic list. I'll send them directions to my residence in MS so that we can hash it out.I should mention that some people here are VERY sensitive to others talking about places they might have been or would like to go, so tread carefully!
And to answer your question, Chile/Argentina = 68/32. Lot's of common turf, but Atacama!Well, that is a fantastic list. Morocco has ocean, mountains, and desert.I’m not that familiar with Morocco. I would replace with Italy. I haven’t seen all of Italy but what I seen is amazing.
My self-curse: May I only reside in Spain or Morocco.Spain is Europe's USA, as far as the variety of topographies & climates
Making a case for Russia #1 is like making the case that Chicago has the best skyline. It''s doable. In no particular order...
1. Russia
2. Croatia
3. Canada
4. Peru
5. Iceland
To be clear, Russia is not my #1.Making a case for Russia #1 is like making the case that Chicago has the best skyline. It''s doable.
Solid ranking.
Microclimates FTWSpain is Europe's USA, as far as the variety of topographies & climates
Peru has mountains, glaciers, tropical rain forests, oceans, deserts, Vinicunca and Machu Pichu. It's a contender. In no particular order(this is not a ranking)
1. Russia
2. Croatia
3. Canada
4. Peru
5. Iceland
Of the previously mentioned, I have not been to Morocco...and don't plan on going anytime soon after two European girls were beheaded while visiting.
It would be my number one...I've seen all of the topographies you've mentioned firsthand.Peru has mountains, glaciers, tropical rain forests, oceans, deserts, Vinicunca and Machu Pichu. It's a contender.
Argentina is a bigger, greener Chile.Well, that is a fantastic list. Iceland and NZ are fantastic bang-for-your-buck, as is Morocco, though I don’t think Iceland is quite diverse enough for me to put it #1. US maybe best overall (thanks, 49th and 50th states!). Italy's a good pick. When you got two mountain ranges, two seas & Sicily to boot, and the ruins of a great empire scattered thru it, that's doing something. From Alta Via to Agrigento (i wish you could smell the sea air & citrus trees & history that goes w this one), with canals & blue grotti in between, mmmmWAA!!I’m not that familiar with Morocco. I would replace with Italy. I haven’t seen all of Italy but what I seen is amazing.
Good pick. Great shoreline & islands, impressive mountains and this. Next to Patagonia and the site of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (because war has prevented me from completing my tour of the Seven Wonders of the World sites), Plitvice is the place i most want to experience..2. Croatia
Someone with enough time and money could spend a month each in their 12 favorite states. I'm thinking Alaska in July and Hawaii in January to start.. US maybe best overall (thanks, 49th and 50th states)

Yeah, that was my thought as well. I think maybe a tropical jungle is the only thing we don't really have (Amazon/Congo type), but Brazil and central African countries don't have near the range of environments we do.Maybe I'm confuse by the question, but I would think the US would be #1. I mean, we have every single form of geography that you can experience. You want a tropical island? We got it. You want the tundra in the Arctic Circle? We got that. You want tall mountains? We got that. You want grassy plains? We got that. You want beautiful, sandy beaches? We got that. You want volcanoes? We got that. You want deserts? Why? But we do have that.
We pretty much have everything.
I've never been, but I would guess Hawaii has a tropical jungle, no?Yeah, that was my thought as well. I think maybe a tropical jungle is the only thing we don't really have (Amazon/Congo type), but Brazil and central African countries don't have near the range of environments we do.
Australia has some unique geography you wouldn't find anywhere else. I really don't know much about China, but I assume they are a likely contender for a top spot (as long as they aren't polluting the whole place).
Kauai, in particular. Very pretty to see.TheIronSheik said:I've never been, but I would guess Hawaii has a tropical jungle, no?
