Best Nintendo Games? (1 Viewer)

Two games I played a lot that haven't been mentioned are:

Ring King

T&C Surf
Played Kid Niki about six months ago.

Felt like I was on acid.
Ah, you guys beat me to the Ring King and Kid Niki mentions...well done!
LOVED T&C surfing with Magilla Gorilla. It was a super hard game though.

I was the MAN at Ring King. For the three years right out of high school I was king of this game, only losing once. The guy who beat me has yet to give me a remacth going on 15 years. :hot:

RC Pro-Am

Mike Tyson's Punch Out

Tecmo Super Bowl

Contra

Ghosts N' Goblins
Very solid list. Rygar, Ice Hockey, RBI Baseball, and Baseball Stars also.

Spent countless hours on the 5 you list here, especially with G and G.
G and G was probably the most difficult NES game I played.
For good reason.... it was imposable. And it was beyond imposable to beat "for real" (ie. the second time around and both times with the cross).
I'm obligated to post this every time someone mentions Ghosts and Goblins and difficulty.

AVGN: Beats Ghosts and Goblins.

Probably the best AVGN episode of all time. I think it's the most difficult game to beat ever made.

Wow this is a lot tougher than I thought! If I had a gun to my head...

Super Mario Bros

Final Fantasy

Double Dragon 2

Mike Tyson's Punchout

Mega Man 2

So now I'm doing a full run through of Castlevania II...... one thing in the plug column for this game is the music..... fantastic for the era.

I played Tyson over the weekend at a buddy's house. Still one of the best games of all-time. The graphics were way beyond anything up to that point. To have a character as large as Tyson/Bald Bull, etc, that actually moved was cutting edge. Not to mention having a semi-1st person perspective when most games were side-scrollers or top-down at that time.

My top 5

-Super Tecmo Bowl (based on sheer playability/replayability alone)

-Tyson's Punch Out

-Legend of Zelda (still a classic, and the 1st game that let you actually save your progress)

-RBI baseball (There were games with better graphics, games with more features, but there weren't any as fun...Brett Saberhagen was nearly unhittable with his side-arm delivery)

-Maniac Mansion (One of the first real-time games, and tons of replay value)

Blow the dust out!

A few that nobody's mentioned yet:

Metal Gear

Blaster Master

Jackal

Gradius

Rygar

Ninja Gaiden

I hated Kid Icarus. I recognize that it's a great game... but I really sucked at it LOL
I really liked Kid Icarus. In fact I think it's strange that it really hasn't gotten a major reboot yet. I remember hearing when they were making OOT for Zelda and the first 3D Metroid how "excited" I was. I think a Kid Icarus 3d world would be great and I think there would be a market for it. Can you imagine all the cool Greek Mythology bad guys they could have?
They re-released a 3-D version for the 3DS but I beat it with it turned off.
I'm talking about a "real" re-boot not a 3DS. Something with the size and scope of Twilight Princess on the WII. Bow and Arrow with the Wii would be awesome.
Still no reboot :(

Super Mario 1, Mega Man 1 and Zelda 1 just for the classics they are.

Super Mario 3 was the best and so far ahead of its time its ridiculous.

Zelda 2

Ninja Gaiden

Destiny of an Emperor: Probably one of the best RPGs released for NES. Really great and fun game.

Batman (hard ### ####### game)

River City Ransom!

Little Nemo the Dream Master (don't think anyone mentioned this one)

Boy & His Blob

Tecmo Bowl

Tecmo Super Bowl

Mike Tyson's Punchout

Baseball Simulator 1.000

Bad News Baseball (but only if you played with the girls)

Kid Icarus (I loved this but hated Metroid. Go figure)

Master Blaster (just difficult enough with some open ended exploration)

Fester's Quest. If you liked Master Blaster, you had to like this too since it's the same game.

Dragon Warrior I & III: IV sucked, III had tons of replay value.

Final Fantasy: Same replay value as DW III

Tecmo World Wrestling

Al Unser Jr Turbo Racing

TMNT: Known for being hard as hell, especially that underwater level. I persevered though.

Bandit Kings of Ancient China (most of those KOEI games were fun)

Trojan: One of those fun, yet simple games that made no sense whatsoever.

Time Lord: Never beat this.

California Games

Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers

Duck Tales

Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Could never beat the end boss here, but it was fun.

Faxanadu

Godzilla: Monster of Monsters

The Goonies II

Tecmo Cup Soccer

Any love for Maniac Mansion?

ETA: Just read back through the thread and happily saw it was mentioned a few times. Loved that game. Playing it late at night with my brother as a 9 year old scared the crap out of me.
