Black Mirror - Best way to describe it is Modern Day Twilight Zone .. Excellent

Orange is the new Black - great dramedy about women in prison

Wentworth - The Aussie version of Orange, but no Laughs at all.. pretty rock solid

Broadchurch - Orginal BBC version, 8 parter Crime Drama, remade for American TV

Mad Men - One of the best Dramas of the past 10 years, final season in May

I've heard The Peaky Blinders is good, but I don't have Netflix so I haven't seen it myself. Would like to.

This would be a quick trip too, 2 seasons 6 episodes each, season 3 some time in 2015 as far as I can tell from google.

Breaking Bad is the superior series that you haven't seen though, imo.

We're getting ready to do The Shield. I just wish it was available streaming.
loved The Shield. so good.
I watched it when it was actually on TV. Haven't seen it since. My woman has never seen it, and I only remember certain plot lines, so I thought it would be fun to watch again. My memory has gone enough that I enjoy watching shows I've only seen once. We watched 24 and she kept asking me questions about what might happen, and I was like, "I literally have no clue." She thought I was just trying not to spoil it for her, but I kept getting surprised and thinking, "Damn. I don't remember that."

Forgot about this. I love Phil and Lem. When I renewed my Netflix account last year, it was the first thing I watched. That and the IT Crowd.

Phil and Lem are hilarious. I found this quote from Phil explaining to Lem why he had a black eye:

"I was at the gym and I saw a beautiful woman so I tried to talk to her but her boyfriend was there and he got pissed. He saw me as a threat… I’m a scientist. I’ve been a threat to humanity, the environment, and even Jupiter once, but never to a hot girl’s boyfriend."

The best episode was when the motion detectors couldn't recognize black people.

I love Better Off Ted.

Had heard nothing but good stuff about the IT Crowd, and gave it a try, and I think I must be missing something. To me it made The Big Bang Theory seem subtle and sophisticated by comparison. The laugh track was oppressive, and I made it three episodes before moving on. Does it get better?

To be honest, I think it's one of those things that's either hit or miss. I had a buddy who literally forced me to watch it. And I was not a fan of it for about the first 5 episodes. Then it grew on me. But if I go back and watch those first 5 episodes, I find them funny now.

I recommend a lot of shows that I think are funny, but I rarely recommend this one just because of that. Some people love it, some people hate it. For me, I definitely found it funnier as it went on. But if it was up to me, I would have never kept watching.

Breaking Bad for sure. After that, Peaky Blinders would be next in my opinion. It's one of the better series I have seen and superior to Black Mirror (and of course a very different type of show). I am surprised it doesn't get more love.

Everything I've liked has been mentioned.

I've recently watched the "cancelled too soon" group of:

Firefly

Freaks & Geeks

Better Off Ted (still in progress)

The only other two shows I've watched through were:

Breaking Bad

Psych

Psych is an acquired taste, but I'm a huge fan. I binged through seasons 1-7 and then had to wait 8 months for season 8 to come out. I finished it in less than a week (shortened season for some reason) and it was the weakest season.
