Best vs McCoy vs Forsett (1 Viewer)

I see all these guys as really similar backs who all seem to be in line to get most of the work in the backfield for their respective teams. It's a certainty that all three runners will have more value in PPR formats and they could all out-perform their ADP's. Seeing as all three of these backs seem to have the ability and opportunity to put up high-end RB2 numbers I'd have to rank them as follows:

1.) Jahvid Best - I like him the most of the three due to his home-run ability and the fact that the coaching staff seems to plan to lean on him pretty heavily with Smith coming back from his ACL injury. There also doesn't appear to be a noteworthy TD vulture in Detroit. The only knock on Best seems to be his fragility at the college level. Will he be able to stay on the field?

2.) Justin Forsett - I like Forsett a bit better than McCoy due to the fact that his only real competition for early-down work seems to be Julius Jones who I feel is about done as a first-team guy in the league. He's had his day in the sun and has always seemed to under-perform more often than not. Forsett has produced when given the opportunity and like Best doesn't seem to have to worry about a TD vulture. It seems as though, pending health, he will have to battle Leon Washington for some of those receptions on third downs.

3.) LeSean McCoy - I keep reading that McCoy isn't that great of a talent and should be compared more favorably to a Kevin Faulk type than the guy he is replacing in Westbrook. He is in the backfield for a team that does seem to resort to it's fair share of dump off passes and that really lends itself to his greatest strength which is catching the ball in space. His ability to run in between the tackles still seems to be a stumbling block but he should at least be given the opportunity to prove a lot of us wrong. The main reason I ranked McCoy the last of the three is due to Mike Bell being on the roster and it being apparent that he will serve the same purpose for Philly that he served for the Saints last season in that he will vulture TD's at the goal-line.

I rank them as follows:

Best

McCoy

Forsett

Forsett may have more upside than McCoy, but I feel very comfortable with McCoy's role, where with Forsett, I have no idea how he'll be used. Could be a featured RB, he could also be an afterthought who gets only 10 touches per week.

I think Best will be a top-20 RB, I fell he's the most talented RB and has the best situation.

Forsett may very well be more talented than McCoy, but I wouldn't take him over him. Just too many question marks in Seattle for my taste. I personally view Jones and Washington as bigger threats than Mike Bell.

I keep getting this nagging feeling that none of the Seattle backs should be owned this year, but if there is one that should, it will be Julius Jones.

Best will be the consensus #1 out of these guys, because he hasnt seen the NFL field yet and people are drooling over him.

I would take McCoy for this year in re-draft PPR.

:jawdrop:
If I had to have one I'd take Leon. His value is almost nill and he's the most dynamic player of the group by far IMO. Just a matter of whether or not he gets healthy, but you don't have to invest much in him.

Not in any way saying I think Jones is good. I just think that Washington and Forsett will cancel each other out in terms of reliable production, and Jones will pound a very boring 60 yards per game for about 900-something yards and a few TDs. Kinda like Edge in Arizona at the end.

My only issue with that line is the fact that though it's largely about Talent and Skill... it's also about Opportunity and Situation. There's a lot more opportunity for McCoy and a much better situation for McCoy in Philly then there is for Faulk in NE. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to say you were comparing these 2 guys... But I just feel that McCoy will have a much better chance to shine than Forsett. Especially in PPR. I'm just saying that I feel about McCoy the same way I feel about Moreno as a matter of fact... I'm really torn on them because to me they both looked underwhelming last year. But both have great situations this year. Curious to see what people say about McCoy in this thread.
