I see all these guys as really similar backs who all seem to be in line to get most of the work in the backfield for their respective teams. It's a certainty that all three runners will have more value in PPR formats and they could all out-perform their ADP's. Seeing as all three of these backs seem to have the ability and opportunity to put up high-end RB2 numbers I'd have to rank them as follows:
1.) Jahvid Best - I like him the most of the three due to his home-run ability and the fact that the coaching staff seems to plan to lean on him pretty heavily with Smith coming back from his ACL injury. There also doesn't appear to be a noteworthy TD vulture in Detroit. The only knock on Best seems to be his fragility at the college level. Will he be able to stay on the field?
2.) Justin Forsett - I like Forsett a bit better than McCoy due to the fact that his only real competition for early-down work seems to be Julius Jones who I feel is about done as a first-team guy in the league. He's had his day in the sun and has always seemed to under-perform more often than not. Forsett has produced when given the opportunity and like Best doesn't seem to have to worry about a TD vulture. It seems as though, pending health, he will have to battle Leon Washington for some of those receptions on third downs.
3.) LeSean McCoy - I keep reading that McCoy isn't that great of a talent and should be compared more favorably to a Kevin Faulk type than the guy he is replacing in Westbrook. He is in the backfield for a team that does seem to resort to it's fair share of dump off passes and that really lends itself to his greatest strength which is catching the ball in space. His ability to run in between the tackles still seems to be a stumbling block but he should at least be given the opportunity to prove a lot of us wrong. The main reason I ranked McCoy the last of the three is due to Mike Bell being on the roster and it being apparent that he will serve the same purpose for Philly that he served for the Saints last season in that he will vulture TD's at the goal-line.
