That's the first question I asked myself as well, but watch the demo video. In addition to the middle part there's a little trick he uses to hide cash behind the ID. I like to roll with at least a couple hundos with me in case I get in a jam, and that looks like the perfect spot for them.
I've carried one of those tyvek paper wallets in my front pocket - the same one for about five years now. And it accommodates two CC, my ID, and I've had up to a grand in cash in there at once. But I'm thinking of switching to this one. I like the leather.

That's the one I had for years before I got the Basics wallet. Mostly happy with it but in my experience you need to have the exact right number of cards in it or they slide around. Basics keeps everything tight and you can toss it around without being concerned about cards sliding out.

Bought one of these at a sporting goods store as it lied in the checkout aisle. Five years later it is still in my front pocket. I didn't put mine in a blender like the infomercial did, though.
