There have been several factors working against the Lions and Best so far. The schedule has been tough, they lost their starting QB in game 1, and Jahvid hurt his toe.
He's been playing and starting with the injury though. The bye week seems to be coming at a perfect time for the Lions. Stafford should be returning, 6 of the Lions last 10 games are at home (where Best and Detroit in general play much better), and other than the Jets in week 9 the defenses they face aren't nearly as imposing as some of the teams they've already played.
I'd say he's a pretty solid RB2 going forward.
