Big Ben tweaks knee in Wednesday's practice

Ben Roethlisberger tweaked his knee Wednesday and was unable to finish the Steelers' practice.

Byron Leftwich finished up with the first team. Big Ben said afterward that he just slipped in the mud and doesn't believe the injury is serious. Still, he is uncertain to practice Thursday. Stay tuned for late-week updates. Dec. 3 - 3:39 pm et

Never a good thing to have happen but, after watching Lefty against the 'Skins, I really wouldn't be all that concerned if Ben missed a game.

Really? Against the Cowboys? With the Ravens and Jets potentially tying the Steeler's at 9-4 if Pitt loses? With Denver having a good chance to gain a game on Pitt?I'm no Steeler fan but I'm assuming you'd rather have Ben in there than that human statue against the Dallas pass rush.

As a Steelers fan, I would rather have Ben, but Lefty is a good back up. Similiar to when Parker is out, we have faith in Memo.

As long as he didn't tweak his knee by cracking it against half of the defenses players helmetless skulls, causing them to miss games, I think Pittsburgh will be O.K.

Of course I'd rather have Ben in there, but did you watch the second half of the game against Washington? Lefty was solid and made some great throws.

You beat me to it. That would be a big edge for the Cowboys. Ware meet Statue, ball meet ground.

Yeah he did look great and was a big part of that win but and there is always a but the Skins pass rush is lets say not very good to be nice.

(Ben - Lefty) >>>>>>>> (Parker - Memo)

Even if the knee injury isn't an issue, it looks like it could be real windy in Pittsburgh this week and it's not like Roethlisberger is having a good season by any means. If the wind is a problem that, combined with an excellent Dallas pass rush, would be enough to put Roethlisberger on my bench.

Is anybody giving serious thought to starting him? FBG is real high on him this week but I can't see it - especially given the possible weather issues.

 I am ... unfortunately, my other options are Delhomme vs TB and Flacco vs Washington

I'd consider Flacco. The Redskins have a good pass defense but Flacco is playing real well. I don't think there will be much difference in production between Roethlisberger and Flacco but I think Flacco has a little more upside.

I did. And I also saw him struggle enough in Jacksonville, to where I would make Dallas a solid favorite if he were forced to play the entire game on Sunday.

As of now, I'm still starting him over Garcia (against Carolina)... but that may change come Sunday.

I am starting Ben over Schuab. For now anyway.

What he said. Unless some negative news comes out about Ben's knee thing, I pretty sure I'll stick with him too. Weather doesn't concern me at all.

According to Weather.com, the forecast for Sunday will have strong winds starting at 22 mph.

As a Roethlisberger owner, I'm concerned and making plans to sit him if the forecast holds up.

:bag: You don't have to be nice about it - it's easily the worst in the division and is their achilles heel on defense.

Update from RotoWire:

Roethlisberger (knee) practiced Thursday and is expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review reports. "Ben is fine," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said of Roethlisberger, who did not finish practice Wednesday after tweaking his right knee.

Well color me worried, if there are winds that will affect the deep passing game I think Dallas will have a hard time winning. That is their game and opens up everything else. Here is to praying for light winds cause that is the one thing Dallas can't afford. Bad weather is the great talent equalizer.
