U of M  Best PG in the country. Took care of a dangerous opponent in one of the tougher places to play (loud!). Fully deserving of #1 ranking.# 1
A win on the road in the Big Ten is always a nice win. The thing that was the real takeaway for me is that UM lost Jordan Morgan in the first minute of the game. If Michigan has a weakness, it is their bigs. Morgan is a key for Michigan and really undervalued. He is a big body that does all the dirty work so that the scorers can do their thing. Add to that McGary was in foul trouble all game because he plays 100 mph. UM was forced to give Horford and Bielfeldt important minutes. Both guys proved serviceable. Morgan is averaging 6 points, 5 rebounds in 19 minutes a game. In 23 minutes, Horford/Bielfeldt scored 11 and grabbed 6 boards. It was just one game, but it gives me more confidence in the depth at C. It is nice to be this far into a great season and still find new things to like.
Big game Saturday night ...Michigan at Indiana. :boxing: Go Blue.
Big game Wednesday night against a Northwestern team which has beaten both Illinois and Minnesota recently. 1 game at a time here.
Considering Michigan won in Evanston by 28, this would be a really disappointing loss.
He is averaging 15ppg, 8 rpg, 3.5 blocks/steals per game in, and only 2 games shooting below 54% in the Big Ten. Nothing wrong with him. I think he got into early foul trouble against MSU and Spartans played him really physical in the paint. He seemed to have a better 2nd half tho. PSU was such an easy win, he never really got himself into the game and didn't need to. I wouldn't worry about him. He is going to give Michigan fits Saturday.

I wouldn't say I was "worried" about him. I don't see why Michigan can't do the exact same thing to him that MSU did. Physical play seems to really rattle him...reminds me a lot of Kelly and Plumlee at Duke in that regard. I think he had the WORST post move EVAH for an "athletic big guy" in that MSU game...it was brutal

Yeah, that's not pretty. IU will be beyond tough. I think they get revenge on the school from Ohio. Wisconsin will be very tough. I really hope they beat MSU on their floor. As much as I respect Tommy Izzo I know it eats away at him when he's not the top dog in the state. He likes to play up the humility but is hiding a pretty good size ego.
Don't worry, buddy. I am sure you will win one of these years... Michigan football will be back to relevance eventually...
:lmao: #1 :hey:

We will welcome you to Ann Arbor very soon. Better worry first about your matchup with Wisconsin.

Michigan Football is going to be just fine. And the bonus is they run a clean program.

Nix and Payne are tougher and more skilled than Morgan/McGary. I'm not sure Michigan can take Zeller out of the game. The key for UM against IU is get go at Oladipo. If he gets in foul trouble, IU is in trouble. It seems likely IU puts Oladipo on Burke (as many expect), we will see possibly the best individual match-up in NCAA, regardless of conference. If IU puts Oladipo on Hardaway, I would strictly use Hardaway Jr as a decoy and use it to give Burke, Robinson and Stauskas room to score.

MSU 16-6 vs. UM since 2000, spliting 3 times during that period, we split last year., and you sweep us the year before. This is the sample size you are going on  umm, OkUM has definitely vastly improved the last 2 years but I seriously doubt Izzo shares your concerns.

Your sample size is quite a bit worse. Beilein wasn't HC until 2007 and the team he inherited was poor to say the least. Before Beilein, Izzo owned recruiting in the state and beyond. That isn't the case anymore. And U of M didn't commit to the basketball program like MSU did, that also is no longer the case. Izzo had nothing to fear from Michigan in the past, before Beilein. Times are a changin.Beilein has another good looking group of freshman coming in next year. Who does Izzo have lined up for next year? :o Izzo put all his eggs in one basket for 2013 and got snubbed for Duke. You're damn right Izzo has concerns now....plenty.

I guess facts are koolaid now. Well then :banned:

Much needed confidence building win for the Gophers vs Nebraska. Yes, Nebraska. I'll take anything right now after a 4-game losing streak. Gophers finally got back to their game a bit.I'll tell you what though, this Ray Gallegos dude from NE scored a career-high 30 and was popping 3-pointers. Only a sophomore and I only saw him the one time, but the preliminary eye test tells me if he continues to develop under Tim Miles, he could be looking at an NBA career.

Pretty much agree on both counts. There was really no upside to the NE game, they HAD to win that game by 20+. They did what was expected, so no biggie. I want to see it again before I feel like they are back on track.I don't know enough to spot an NBA prospect, but it looked like Gallegos had a 40" verticle on just his jump shots. He was elevating like crazy on his shots.

WTMF is with Almeida from Nebraska? That guy looks like every one of his 315lbs. Slow, fat, lazy. Why does he even get on the floor? Oy!
I've watched quite a few of Nebraska's games this year (I know, :bag: ), and he's basically a body on the floor for Miles, who in reality hasn't had a chance to bring in any of his own players yet. That said, Almeida isn't as bad as appearance would lead you to believe. Well, that is, unless he's up against front court athletes like the Gophers throw out there with Mbakwe and Rodney Williams. In that case, all bets are off. Can't wait to see what Miles will be able to do with a historically terrible Nebraska team. For the record, just like basically every other school that Miles has coached, I think that the Huskers will be dancing within 4-5 years.

@umichbball: Burke either scored or assisted on 25 of Michigan's 36 points in the first half.M put on an offensive clinic in the first half against Northwestern. Northwestern is playing fine - just ran into a buzzsaw in the first half.

Best game of the year for IU. Dominant on D, great shooting by everyone, completely boat raced Purdue tonight. Yogi hitting 3's is scary. Saturday night is gonna be great.

Only two turnovers for Michigan!

From what I have heard, Yogi will guard Burke and Oladipo will stick with Hardaway.I am honestly more excited about Saturday than Super Bowl Sunday. I can easily see either team winning, but I expect a good effort from both sides. Definitely will be fun to watch.

With the level of excitement in the crowd, it will be hard for Michigan to get out of there with a win. Outside of last year's Kentucky game, this is probably the biggest game on IU's floor in 20 years. It will be crazy there.

I would take Michigan with 5.5 points, and the over at 143 points. There will be some good defense tonight, but both teams will push the ball up the court.

Best big 10 game since ever?
Amazing how these teams can be involved in some ugly games and play such a high quality game as well. IU has to be happy with the way they are playing but nervous that the lead is only 4 while UM has to be pretty confident with the terrible start that the lead is only 4 points.
