Bill Maher - More Coaching The Democrats - Nov. 19, 2021 Edition - Nobody Likes A Snob (1 Viewer)

Wow. I don't know how long Maher will last with talk like that.

I, as a committed conservative, am happy to see at least one person on the left start pointing out the problems on their side of the aisle.  Maher has been on a roll lately.  Hope he continues to at least be reasonable.

And listen, I know Maher isn't going to suddenly vote Conservative and be my pal, but at least he's taking a stand against the far-left nonsense that is overrunning his party.  It's time to eject these neo Marxists from the Democrat Party (and put them in the Communist/Socialist/Marxist party where they belong) and bring the Democrat Party back to where it should be.

He's been on this for a while though.

He and James Carville both seem to be talking the same things. And to me, they make a ton of sense.

Last night's episode was wonderful to watch. Chris Christie and NYC Mayor-elect Eric Adams agreed on much and were able to have respectful disagreements while staying true to their principals.

Christie was appropriately critical of the Democratic message of "defund the police" buy pointing out that as governor of NJ, he employed many of the same things Dems want to change with great success in the city of Camden, NJ. But never once called it "defund". Adams was in agreement. Its all about the messaging.

“The median voter is the country is white, 50, didn’t go to college, whose favorite shows is NCIS, and preferred pronouns are ‘What? I don’t know what #### you are talking about get away from me’”  :lmao:  pretty good

Maher has always been like this. Has great guests, welcomes as conservative people on the show as will come on.Been watching this HBO show forever.

Lots of people may have chosen to ignore him because he was, let’s just say a bit critical of the last guy.

The most interesting thing about Maher is that he always has such a fluid IQ. One minute he's brilliantly satirizing the left with absolute comedic genius. And the next, he's spouting off a bunch of idiotic nonsense I completely disagree with. He's quite the unicorn.

😜

Bill Maher is typically on ponit.  I find myself thinking like this unfortunately.  I see all the advancements made in the last 30 years, advancements made possible only through education, innovation, and a desire to continually improve.  And I think it's reasonable to say that these aren't exactly high on the list of the party of Trump policies.

And enough with the racist everything, cancel culture, tolerance of illegal immigration, etc.  We've been able to handle most of those with common sense and lawas the last 50 years and will continue to do so.  But I think progressives have gained too much traction and while I believe their ultimate goals are admirable and where we need to end up, the pace at which they're demanding that change is too high.

Dems are in for a butt kicking in a year if the messaging doesn't change quickly.

Woah, who let this guy back in?

Welcome back GB.

isn't going to suddenly vote Conservative and be my pal,
really?  only conservatives (whatever that means these days)  can be your pals?)   ok.   that seems sub-optimal.

never mind.  please don't respond.  i apologize.

Interesting for sure.    I notice his audience was not as enthusiastic as usual..like they were being called out by Mahar. Mahar taking shots at AOC but he was correct..then he welcomed her to be on his show but she won`t come on because Mahar will be too real for her and she will think that is too hostile.

None of the squad will go on Mahars show.  Why?

The media works in funny ways.  Former Detroit police chief James Craig is a black republican has been on FOX News nationally many times.  when asked why he won`t go on CNN or MSNBC Craig said he would love to.   Craig said his people have contacted both CNN and MSNBC to be on any of their evening shows with no response.  Craig said he was willing anything but they don`t want a black republican to have a platform of their station.

Mahar is giving AOC a platform but she won`t take it.  Hopefully she will in the future.

Too late!!

Not only can non-conservatives be my pals, I actually married one.

Maybe he is brilliantly satirizing the right as well, and you just aren’t willing to step back and laugh at the absurdities coming from that side.

He calls himself a liberal but he doesn’t share a lot of the same ideas as the whiney left.  Is he more libertarian at this point?
Maybe, and bear with me here, as it's sort of nutty, but maybe, just maybe, most liberals do not endorse the ideas of the "whiny left." And they are also tired of hearing about being woke. And sick of being talked down to by snobby coastal elitists. And realize that most people aren't racists and white nationalists. Would that blow your mind, or do you just think I'm lying?

This sounds like a bunch of malarkey.

And yet you guys keep electing leaders that promote the ideas of the whiney left. And the Socialist left.

If you're saying most liberals don't endorse this stuff then I'm telling you that the facts and reality doesn't bear that out.

If just one Democratic leader told these cancel culture woke clowns to shut up it would do wonders for them.

Yep.  Same.

Perhaps say something like “stand back and stand by?”  Something along those lines?
Unfortunately even that would be a start, yes.

Funny thing I saw a Trump video talking about Rittenhouse yesterday, in which he denounced white supremacists and their ilk a few times…the guy has to hold the record for person with the most denouncements of white supremacy who apparently didn’t denounce white supremacy.

When he had the entire world watching, he chose not to denounce them, but to instead “stand by.”

I'm guessing you meant this tongue in cheek.

But instead of him being smart about some things and an idiot about other things, could it be he agrees with you on some things and disagrees with you on others? ;)

The whole cancel culture branding is dumb but people fall for it.  This stuff has been going on for years.  But it helps the GOP with their base by giving them a label to fear.

Dems should call it out for accountability that the GOP lacks by supporting MTG, Gohmert, Boebert (I probably spelled some wrong- and there are more) and trying to bury January 6.  And for the gop wanting to cancel minority votes in the next election.

Shocking, I know.   Wouldn't fit the narrative of "left" = X around here though.  ;)

It sounds kind of funny when you word it like that, but yes.

Besides Joe Biden, you have 0 clue how I or many others around here have cast their vote.   I mean people like me have posted about it and said how they vote, but evidently you don't believe them and that's cool.

If I were to vote for a D again in 2024 (very unlikely), I also have very little control over who that nominee is too.

As per the bolded above, "you" as in the liberal voting base, not you personally.

And we CAN see how liberals cast their vote by the looking at the politicians THEY vote into office.  The same politicians that cater to the whiney left are EXACTLY the politicians the liberal voting base is voting for.

Karma, which R's would you vote for in 2024...or would you just abstain / vote Kanye?  Curious...no judgement in there.

Gotcha.  So when you say "you guys", you don't mean us guys?  :loco:

Speaking of what they say vs. reality - is this like you praising Krystal and Saagar and their ideas and pods, but your posts in here reflect very little of those same ideas?

For POTUS, I was voting 3rd party for years, and begrudgingly voted Biden last year.   Very doubtful I will do that again.

Other elections - state, local, I vote for a mix of all 3.

Probably  more like.   How could a guy who understands  this hold an opinion as stupid as that?

That is what makes Maher so interesting...he is not an idealogue or has blind loyalty...it's refreshing to have a different view with someone and not immediately be called some type of "ist" or "phobe" because of it...makes you want to focus in on what they are seeing different then you or why they think a different way.

It’s not binary though right?  I mean what is “understanding an issue?”  You have to look at factors of course.  Different factors have different weights for people.  I may factor something like a persons political leanings a lot more than you on a particular issue.

Depending on the weight you give all the different factors you may come to completely different conclusions on something.  It’s how you set your weights that ultimately decides.

Add to this the fact that those weights change with our biases too.  We all develop blind spots too and overlook (intentionally or otherwise) out guys many many many issues.

For instance with the federal debt, I screamed about it when Republicans gave rich folks a 50% tax cut.  But when Biden asks for tons of pork, debt isn’t really at the front of my mind so I don’t mention it.  It’s the same damn debt and yet I framed it two different ways.  I believe we all do this way too much.

You guys, huh?

I checked my ballots when I voted. None of the individuals I filled in a circle for were Socialists. I didn't vote for any of the Squad, or Nancy Pelosi, or Chuck Schumer.

Your talking points are old, tired, and inaccurate. By your logic I could easily justify calling you a white nationalist authoritarian. I know we agree on very little, but I don't think you are those things.

See my previous responses to KP above regarding who I meant by "you guys" (liberal voters in general).

Your one vote is being drowned out by the millions of other liberal voters putting these whiney politicians into office.

Just like SC saying "y'all" when replying to a quote from BB who didn't think that way - maybe stop with the general "you guys" stuff?

Feel feel to call me out and correct me if I post something like "you guys are voting in Qanon believers in office".   Basically the same concept as what you are doing above.
