Bills @ Bears Game Thread (preseason) (1 Viewer)

Bears first half

Okoye had a hell of a first half with 2 sacks.

Barber looked like a man on a mission.

Offensive line is what we thought it was: an embarrassment to the human race. 4 sacks

Defense is also what we thought it was, stellar. Gonna be a great season on defense.

Roy's name was never called.

Gholston looks average at best, but he will probably make the team if Wooten is hurt badly

Knox had some good returns and a catch.

Hanie looks like a good backup, if only Martz would've taken his head out of his ### in the NFC Championship

Also, when does the league step in and make the Bears do something about their embarrassment of a field? Get that turf fixed. It's ridiculous. This ain't a high school football field. Actually, tons of high school fields aren't that terrible.

Probably will take Urlacher blowing out an ACL before the Bears sack up and replace that turf.

The Bears players all hate it too. It's unreal.

Rahm Emanuel is on it already.

Bills fans - is Marcus Easley safe? Does he have to work for a roster spot? The Bills WR corps is quite deep. How do you see this shaking out?
impossible to say since he's been hurt for nearly his entire NFL career thus far. He's got a chance to move up the depth chart if he starts actually practicing and doing something, but they also have a lot of guys they like in:Stevie JohnsonDavid NelsonRoscoe ParrishBrad Smith (QB)Donald JonesNaaman RooseveltCraig DavisWith Smith mostly playing QB in the wildcat, it looks to me like Easley is competing with those bottom 3 right now. They probably won't keep them all but it's tough to say who is likely to get cut at this point.
Thanks. I ask because Johnson/Nelson/Parrish are all in. If the Bills carry 5 and Roosevelt is doing pretty well in camp, Easley had better show some sort of value on ST right? Then he boneheads 2 consecutive kickoff returns. Seems to me that he may have a tough time making the team with what he is doing so far.

 I'm sure I'm the only one, but I think a ####ty field is charming. They can't all play in domes.

Just because you play outside doesn't mean you have to have a ###### field. See Lambeau.

PICK! for Aaron Williams in the red zone.

pretty nice play there for the rookie.

They have too many other events in Soldier Field so the grass is always getting torn up and never becomes solid.

They installed a turf that's sort of halfway to a soccer pitch, because those games are insanely profitable. Am. football destroys it though.

Funny that it does get replaced late in the year if the Bears are in the playoffs...

It has nothing to do with money. The bears organization doesn't own soldier field. The organization that does own it has already offered to pay for turf. Honestly, not sure why the bears insist on keeping it real grass. I wasnt able to watch the game, but I read the field was actually in good shape and held up well?

Looked rough after the first half and only got worse in the second. Urlacher commented on how bad it looked again.

Was at the game, want to correct Rotoworld, Barber tore up Buffalo's first string defense. He looked like The Barbarian again, it was extremely impressive, especially behind that horrible offensive line.

These are the run plays for Barber.

2nd Quarter, Bears 3rd offensive series

1st and 10 at CHI 48 M.Barber left end to BUF 41 for 11 yards (N.Barnett).

1st and 10 at BUF 41 M.Barber left guard to BUF 41 for no gain (K.Williams).

2nd and 10 at BUF 41 M.Barber right guard to BUF 29 for 12 yards (J.Byrd).

1st and 10 at BUF 18 M.Barber left tackle to BUF 16 for 2 yards (A.Davis).

2nd and 8 at BUF 16 M.Barber left end pushed ob at BUF 5 for 11 yards (D.Edwards).

2nd and 5 at BUF 5 M.Barber right guard to BUF 4 for 1 yard (A.Coleman).

2nd Quarter, Bears 4th offensive series

1st and 10 at CHI 10 M.Barber right tackle to CHI 18 for 8 yards (A.Moats; A.Williams).
I think the 2nd and 10 play was a draw for 12 yards against the nickel when the Bills were expecting pass.

The 2nd and 8 play for 11 yards was also against the nickel and he ran over Drayton Florence.

He did look good for sure, but he's a good back so that's not a surprise.

Against the Bills base defense, looks like 5 carries for 22 yards.

How did Fred Jackson look?
averaged 6 yards per carry but only got 3 touches.
I appreciate the reply but I know the stats. I wanted to know how he looked.
looked pretty good, but it's not like he's an unknown commodity at this point. he always looks pretty good. 5 yard carry to open the game, then an 11 yard carry to open the second drive. on both series, however, Spiller seemed to share time with him playing with the starters.

The way Barber looked makes me a little hesitant to rank Forte as high as some do (and I did) prior to this game. I know it's just preseason but Taylor was terrible last year and still got some carries. If Barber is halfway decent it could really cut into Forte's production.

:goodposting: Especially around the goalline. Barber has always been a beast down there.

How did the rookie Johnny White look? Was he used in short yardage or near the goalline?
ran hard but really had nowhere to go. the Bills didn't really get near the goalline and they seemed to be running the Wildcat with Brad Smith and then Josh Nesbitt in short yardage situations.

Cowboy fan here and marion has been my favorite player for years. He has NOT been a beast at the GL though. The last couple years he's been shut down at the GL over and over again forcing the cowboys to throw 3 straight downs at the GL. Barber has not been the same back either. Since felix jones got there marion has changed his game from a banger to trying to bounce everything outside. Once the league took his secret weapon away (his stiffarm/facemask) he really changed as well. Gone is the burst and toughness that characterized his game. He does however, protect the qb very well and can catch the ball very well. I hope he does well in CHI but what I saw in the CHI/BUF game he looks like the same player.
