Breaking news: McKelvin has broken leg; Whitner to have surgery

More long-term injury news for the Buffalo Bills to deal with highlighted coach **** Jauron's Monday meeting with the media.

Starting cornerback and kick returner Leodis McKelvin suffered a broken leg in Sunday's 27-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints, while starting safety Donte Whitner was scheduled for surgery Monday to repair an injured thumb.

Jauron said Whitner's injury will keep him out in the week-to-week range, while McKelvin will be out longer. McKelvin's injury occurred in the second quarter. Jauron said it was not related to the fibula injury he suffered in Week Two against Tampa Bay.

"It was one of those freak things," Jauron said.

More information to come on the Bills' homepage.

So does that mean McGee is going to start returning kicks again?
McGee hasn't been 100% healthy either. Roscoe Parrish wound up returning all 5 kicks this week so it looks like they might keep him back there rather than risk losing another starting corner to injury.

Bryan Scott and Donte Whitner have been ruled out for this week so it looks like we'll see George Wilson at SS and Jairus Byrd at FS. Also it sounds like Drayton Florence will take over for McKelvin, but not sure how long that will last.

Also Jene, how do you think the SS situation shakes out in Buffalo. I noticed you had Bryan Scott as a DB2 type in your Dynasty Ranks. Do you feel he is above Whitner & Wilson at this point in time (I assume Byrd is locked in at FS)....THANKS in advance.

seconded. I have kept McKelvin in a few leagues. Anyone know how he's doing?
Nothing informative in recent news on the injury.I do know that his main usefulness for me was his return points, and with Spiller drafted it seems like I may have lost a good percentage of that. :goodposting:

McKelvin should be fine. Not sure why there's any question. It's possible he could lose return duties now that Spiller is on board though. Team may want him to just focus on playing corner.

Hard to tell right now. George Wilson got a good tender, but they moved to sign Scott pretty quickly in free agency. Chan Gailey has apparently said that he sees Whitner the starter there, but it's tough to reconcile that with the offseason moves. I've got Scott slotted there now, but there are no guarantees yet. First full team minicamp/OTA is in late May.

Thanks for the info. guys....I picked him up as a DB when he started playing OLB at the end of last year with all the injuries and he put up nice #'s.

It would be great if he could win the starting job @ SS in 2010 now (usually good #'s from that spot) and give me a double bonus.....
