ESPN reports Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has agreed to terms of a new contract that secures the Harvard graduate as the team's long-term starter, a person familiar with negotiations told The Associated Press. The extension is valued at $59 million over six years, including $24 million in guaranteed money, team and league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Fitzpatrick's contract will average $9.987 million during the six years, but $11 million in each of the first three seasons, which are often considered the critical earning years in NFL player contracts.

They act as if top-tier QBs grow on trees in a league where Painter, TJax, Gabbert and Beck are starters.

Fitz may not have elite skills but he's a perfect fit for the system Gailey's got running.

That's a marked improvement for a franchise that's faced so many challenges with stability at the QB position since Jim Kelly.

Well, his arm isn't really all that great and his accuracy can be questionable at times, but he's a solid QB and that deal is less than what Kolb and Cassell are getting and will look very reasonable just 2 or 3 years into it. When guys like Peyton, Eli, Brady, etc are making $20M a year, $10M a year isn't bad at all for a guy like Fitz. Heck, Chris Johnson is making that kind of money and he is playing like poop.Now let's get Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson signed to extensions.
