Bills Release Trent Edwards (1 Viewer)

Great move for the Bills. Now they need to sign Colt Brennan who is just waiting for his chance to break out. make it happen Nix!

So..............again I ask............if they knew he sucked.......WHY NOT DO THIS IN TRAINING CAMP?!?

Not only did they waste an opportunity to try out another QB in camp, but they guaranteed Edwards' salary for the entire 2010 season.

So, to recap:

1. wasted the season

2. wasted Edwards' salary

3. too late to get another QB

Ladies and gentlemen.......your 2010 Buffalo Bills!

And that's what a joke the organization has become. The guy they determined through all offseason workouts was their #1, has gone from starter to cut in 3 wks. Ridiculous.

Am I the only one that doesn't think Edwards is totally done, right situation etc and he could do ok, Arizona jumps out.

Was Edwards that much of a locker rom cancer that he could be around? Why make the guy your starter all preseason and starter week 1 then cut him now? Did his talent digress that much in the last few weeks. Geez Buffalo...

Good riddance

He was, by far, the worst QB in the NFL

He refused to throw the ball to his WR's. That is the QB's primary job and he refused to do it.

Just a patehtic excuse for a QB

No, I agree. Dude has a strong arm and some mobility. He does make some bad decisions with the ball, but most of his problems have to do with him being surrounded by a craptastic team.

I would have thought that this means they bring Levi Brown back in as #3 QB, but not even signing him to the practice squad probably means that he was beyond awful.

THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The "experiment" is over
I'm so sick of this cliche. Since when is drafting a guy and then trying to develop him considered an experiment? It's this and "he threw it where only his receiver could catch it" (often said after an incomplete pass) that are battling for my most-hated pro football cliche.

You obviously have never watched him playI have seen every snap he has taken and he is nowhere near a NFL QB.He does not have a strong arm; where are you getting that from?? He actually has one of the worst arms Ive seen out of a QB. Any pass over 10 yards (if he even throws one) looks like a wounded duck. He gets no velocity. "Some Mobility" :goodposting:  :lmao: That dude is about as mobile as a turtle

Was going to post this as well.

Sad thing is, as many QBs as the Bills have gone through - some with real talent - it's clearly and coaching and front office issue. They could identify and draft the best possible QB, and still screw him up.

We could poll 1,000,000 Americans with healthy representation from the housewifes, toddlers and Snooki fan demographics and you'd be on your own.
Nope... Edwards (and Losman) had great potential, with the right coaching could be decent NFL QBs. It wouldn't surprise me to see Edwards on another team within the week.

This move says VOLUMES about the incompetent Bills management.

I haven't seen anything to excite me about Edwards but I will at least give him a mulligan and benefit of the doubt until he goes somewhere else. I imagine it is hard to stand out and look good in Buffalo. That's kind of like wondering out loud "How effective would Lee Evan be in, say, San Diego or minnesota, instead of Bufflao"? "Would Marshawny Lynch be a better player somewhere else"?

Absolutely they had great potential; sometimes QB's just get wrecked. And few ever come back from it. The "change of scenery" argument is more applicable with RB/WR/TE. QB and supporting cast can make all the difference in the world.

Sometimes players practice well, but play poor, or vice versa. Edwards was apparently the poster boy for the former.

I'll give you "some mobility" but that's about it. The guy has always had a poor team around him, yet he has regressed a ton. There's no excuse for that.

So last year the Bills got rid of the offensive coordinator right before the season starts. This year they outright release their Week 1 starting QB after Week 3. What a disaster of an organization. And the only real consistency over the last 15 years has been Ralph Wilson. So there's only one person to blame and until he departs this earth, things aren't turning around. An owner with any common sense tells his GM and Head Coach that if they made the decision that Edwards was good enough to be the starter, than he needed to stay on the roster all year.

Enough with the incompetence. There's no hope to improve the team going forward if the organization misjudged talent that badly.

Since the UFL season has started, they can't even sign any of those guys right?

Seems like just ridiculous timing all the way around.

I'm with you. I remember he had a strong showing at the beginning of 08 but it seems like he got knocked out a couple times and just wasn't the same. I could see him being productive under a better coaching staff. To illustrate my faith in Edwards, I was foolish enough to take him in the subscriber contest thinking Edwards/Evans would be Gailey's new version of Thigpen/Bowe. Fail:(I'd like to see him land in Jax or Arizona.
He took a huge hit from Adrian Wilson in late '08 IIRC; was never really the same since then.My gut says AZ wouldn't think that he would much of an upgrade (if any) over Max Hall.

At least they lasted longer than Cleveland did with Charlie Frye a few years back.

Per Adam Schefter, The Bills will sign Levi Brown to the active roster. Interesting after the Bills cut him, he couldn't even land on the practice squad of another team. I guess Buffalo really is last chance alley of the NFL.

Wow, that's how far we have fallen. A Raiders fan bashing the Bills organization. lolIt was a good move that should have been done in the off season. Gailey is still building for the future, and the last thing the Bills needed was another Johnson/ Flutie debacle.

Sad to say Grove, you're correct. I think Ralphie meddles a lot more into decisions than people think.

:goodposting: Nothing more to add.

Definition of the word experiment:1.

a test, trial, or tentative procedure; an act or operation for the purpose of discovering something unknown or of testing a principle, supposition, etc.: a chemical experiment; a teaching experiment; an experiment in living.

2.

the conducting of such operations; experimentation: a product that is the result of long experiment.

Either way, the experience of Trent Edwards in Buffalo fits the definition. Before you spout off about what you hate, ensure you don't make yourself look like a fool in the process.
