Didn't see the comment about effectiveness.  After using it for years I can attest that, at least for my wife and I, it was 100 per cent reliable in avoiding pregnancy.  My guess is the lower reliability has more to do with will power and education than the science involved.

Ha.  But the cliche came far before NFP.  Our parents were using rhythm.

Also, not nearly as many rigorous Catholics when it comes to birth control nowadays.

Plus, we need to have more kids.  It's good for society to have larger families.

And it's easy to do NFP.  It comes down to a temperature once a day and the woman knowing her body.  Not hard.

The fact that the Catholic Church pushes NFP AND loves big families tells me everything I need to know.
