Bitcoins - anyone else mining? (2 Viewers)

Wha? There is no universal account keeping and you did a key to use the bitcoins? They suck.
If you lose them, they're gone and everyone else's get become more valuable.
Sounds like the perfect currency for suckers.
Sounds like you don't own any.
It is obvious you do.
Nothing gets by you. You're about as sharp as a beach ball.
 enjoy your tulips.
Maybe, maybe not. I have a few that cost me $120 and I was able to arb some that will cost me nothing. I am also accumulating more at zero cost.

If you're right, it's cost me almost nothing. If you're wrong, who knows what they'll be worth. Like I said, you're as sharp as a beach ball.
I don't really care what they cost you. Just find your self-interested cheerleading funny, douchebag.
Guess the truth hurts so much that you resorted to name calling. Impressive.

Cheerleading? Child, please. I am as skeptical as anyone--I've just discovered a way to gain exposure with almost no downside. You, on the other hand, are so convinced you're right that you can't see the possibility you're wrong. And that is as close to the definition of stupidity as it comes. You're exactly the type of person I never want to hire--arrogant and stupid. A very dangerous combination.
:lmao:

The amount of projection here is hilarious.

Like I give a #### whether an assbag like yourself would hire me. Just makes you look more foolish.

By completely dismissing the possibility that Bitcoin will ever succeed, you've demonstrated such bad judgement that I accept your characterization as a compliment. Now go away before you make yourself look even more stupid.

If you really want to continue this conversation, try to defend your position against mine. You completely dismiss a new technology and compare it to the tulip mania. I learn about Bitcoin and accumulate them in a risk free way while maintaining a healthy level of skepticism. Who looks foolish now? Game, set and match. Now run along little boy.

I am not really interested in a debate with a self-delusional shill for these things. I just responded to yet another one of your posts that was in that vein. Enjoying your bad defensive shtick here.

You have done nothing but make poor analogies and stuck your head in the sand in this thread. Keep puffing your chest, calling people names and being ignorant, it really works for you.

How do you invest in a risk free way and if it is risk free and why be skeptical about BTC?

Please keep posting price updates of wild swings to drive home the point that BTC appears to be a speculative bubble.

It's not too late to get in on Litecoin at a reasonable investment price.

How many BTC have actually been spent on something that isn't drugs, guns, or dead hookers?
In 2010, someone bought two pizzas with 10,000 bitcoins. Those bitcoins would today be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 million. If you're a champion of bitcoin, you'll point to this meteoric rise in value as evidence that bitcoins are the wave of the future. If you understand basic economics, you'll notice that purchasing those pizzas was perhaps the worst decision of that person's life (had they simply held their bitcoins, they would be several million dollars richer today), that the only rational thing to do if you have bitcoins is not[i/] to spend them, and that this is not how a currency functions or possibly can function.

It's no secret that Bitcoin trades at different prices on different exchanges. Buy low, sell enough high to recoup your investment and pocket the rest. The trick is getting accounts set up and functional and trusting the system while you wait 6-8 weeks for your USD to be returned. It's the wild west out there. No regulation and no shortage of hackers trying to steal your money. Not for the faint of heart.

I am skeptical because it's a new technology that's not widely accepted. I think a crypto currency will "win", but I don't know which one. It's early in the game.

Chad Green doesn't know when Martin left his house, doesn't remember it happening but remembers asking him to buy him Skittles as he was walking out the door. Believe what you want as to why it was important for him to lie about it.

Keep calling out posters with your head in the sand about a technology you don't understand nor can you put a valuation on other to cite the price action and call it a bubble, you couldn't be more naive and arrogant.

So can you cash out at any time? Regarding the guy that bought the pizza - had he simply held onto them and then decided to sell them on the open market, he literally would have made that much money?

No one cares what you think because you've proven to be stubborn and stupid. Again, I take it as a compliment that you don't care about my opinion.

Enough arguing with this idiot. I will quit while I am ahead rather than get dragged down to his level and beaten with experience.

Based on the order of magnitude of the overall opportunity and some very rough calculations they also believe scenarios exist by which a Bitcoin could be worth 10-100x its current price. "We believe rising Bitcoin prices help build the network thus entrenching its value, especially vis-à-vis other alternative coins/conduits. Based on this framework, we would postulate that current Bitcoin prices reflect a peak penetration of 1% of total potential demand in 10 years," they said.

You start off by insulting me and then spend the last page whining about my responses. This is the level you wanted and you'll continue to get it. Feel free to take your bad shtick back to the Lambo forums.

I like how I posted a list of concerns I have, and none of the supporters bother to respond. I want to feel good about Bitcoins, someone convince me (with facts, not conjecture) that they are solid.
Read this.
Unlike fiat currencies, bitcoins are:

  • Predictable and limited in supply
I had to stop right there as that seemed to me like an immediate loss of credibility - I understand the limit in supply, but even the most staunch supporter has to admit that Bitcoins are far from predictable.

I wish I invested, who wouldn't with what these things have done recently? I'm a fairly aggressive investor, but Bitcoin is too risky for my blood. It could be a grand slam, but the possibility of a complete zero is also out there, & that is a chance that will keep many like me on the sidelines.

He meant the supply of bitcoins is predictable--unlike the supply of a fiat currency.

I am interested in getting into mining. My question is this. If bitcoins are so valuable why are people willing to sell there mining equipment and not mine anymore.

I see a lot of jalapeno mining processors on EBAY. Can I get a quick intro into mining and how the process works.

What would be my expectations if I purchase something like this.

Butterfly Labs Jalapeno 8.5GH/s ASIC BITCOIN MINERHow long would it take to mine one coin. I understand there is more to the process than just purchasing the miner. I would like some guidance if possible.

Doesn't make economic sense to buy equipment to mine at this point.

Can you elaborate on how you are acquiring them risk-free? Does that mean you have a mining rig setup? Or something else? I'd like to actually invest in BC a little, but without a lot of monetary risk, so if you can share without it harming your method, I'd love to know. (PMs are fine as well)

The founder asked me to get involved with the company.
in what capacity?
TbdI have 20 years in investment banking which is an uncommon skill set in the bitcoin world.
I like their benefits pitch:

Benefits
  • Meaningful equity at an early stage company
  • Own your own projects from conception to launch
  • Excellent health insurance
  • Free food (lunch and dinners)
  • A new MacBook computer
  • The option of getting paid in Bitcoin
  • Work whenever you work best (flexible hours)
  • No vacation policy - take time off when you need it
  • Work in the heart of San Francisco's SoMA neighborhood (with easy access to the Caltrain)
  • Work on a big idea that is changing the world

It probably has something to do with him doing work with companies affiliated with BitCoins that he mentioned previously. Not really an option for an individual to accumulate bitcoins risk free. The rich get richer.

Sheep marketplace, another deepweb silkroad is going through a scandal right now, possibly millions worth of bitcoin stolen.

Would link but on tablet and unsure, google.

I was considering buying a tiny bit just because, but the volatility is terrifying!

I don't want to buy 2 or 3 bitcoins for like $1200 each and then having them at $500 next week... If they come back down, I might speculate on a few.

Beijing bans banks from Bitcoin deals
China has taken a tough line against Bitcoin, ruling that it is a virtual product, not a currency, and barring the country’s financial institutions from doing any kind of business in it.
Surging Chinese demand has been one of the main drivers of Bitcoin’s 5000 per cent appreciation this year. The notice from Chinese financial regulators, published on Thursday, is the first official policy ruling from Beijing about the virtual currency.

It looks like they will treat BC as a commodity. Not nearly as dire as it seems IMO.

That's what I read too, just like Canada - treating it like gold which is not a bad thing.

Down almost 25% in one day... I would like to buy a few, but volatility like that is beyond frightening... 25% in one year would be miserable, in one day :fml:
