Blacklist - new NBC show (1 Viewer)

Hey let's go take down the Russian Badies in a noisy club, just the two of us. Oh, by the way we're all on a hit list. Oh, and let's split up too!

Worst FBI ever.
Fun show, but have to agree with this. The portrayal of FBI incompetence throughout this season is a little difficult to buy into.
The FBI staff on Blacklist are Mensa members compared to the geniuses and masterminds in our organizations.

Signed,

The members of CTU and CIA from 24

Obviously you've never watched the Following. If you were watching that show not only would they be alone but they'd give up their guns and climb into the bad guys trunk.

I am still not in the camp of Red being Lizzies father. Maybe he was there that night and he pulled Lizzie and her dad out of the fire. Maybe her dad was tied to the Russian Berlin somehow and he is pissed that Red got them out. I dunno.
Maybe Red set the fire to kill her father (for having an affair with his wife) but didn't realize there was a little girl in the house. Lizzie's mother was Red's wife but her father got with her when Red left... or was taken from his family. Red once worked with Liz's father for CIA/special OPS and were friends.. until he found out about the affair. Berlin attacks Red's organization because of that association with Lizzies father (who brutally murdered his daughter) but Berlin doesn't know there is a daughter... yet. Red didn't know why Berlin was attacking his organization but is piecing it together that the girl in the photo, who Lizzie's father murdered, is actually Berlin's daughter. So it is a vendetta and Red wants to save Liz from the same fate as Berlin's daughter.

Or I could just be full of crap. :spitballing:
Or maybe, Lizzie is Berlin's daughter, who Red kidnapped. Instead of sending pieces of Berlin's daughter to him, he sent pieces of somebody else.
Berlin is probably Liz's grandfather and the pieces sent to him were Red's wife... sent by Alan Alda's group.
Berlin is likely the grandfather. I'm not sure if that means Red is the one the daughter fell in love with or not (but he clearly wanted her picture from the stewmaker, and both he and Berlin are connected to whoever that is in the photo). The thing about it is Lizzie lived with her mom for a few years after the fire right? So, it wasn't pieces of Lizzie's mother who were sent to Berlin (plus the stewmaker didn't cut pieces, he melted them all down).
I didn't know Liz lived with her real mother. It's possible Red is the guy Berlin hired to help his daughter disappear (something he is good at) after Berlin busted her out of the Russian prison and Red didn't realize she was grabbed and killed at some point afterward. Meanwhile, Berlin may think Red double-crossed him and believed, or was led to believe, the body parts sent to him were sent from Red (a setup by Alda's group!). That would explain why Red has no idea why this man is mad at him. He didn't know Berlin because his organization was hired anonymously so he never met Berlin. He just arranged a new identity for some girl. But he recognized her in the photo and will soon realize that is why Berlin is mad at him.

I will say that the venom and torch and pitchfork mentality the FBI had to arrest Red quickly dissipated into thin air. His escape was way too easy and at that point suddenly no one seemed to care that he had escaped in about 8 and a half minutes.

...because they let him escape

I realize that. But you would think that the worker drones / other agencies / law enforcement would have shown some level of curiosity as to why there was a massive manhunt and then no one even bothered to look for him. Again, this may be more of a what happens in Hollywood is different than what would happen in real life situation.

Don't think there was a man hunt. Lizzie agreed to set up a meet that was a trap to bring him in and that's where Red was captured. Sure the cops help clear the area but likely had little idea of the operation more than it was to snatch up an informer or something. Once Red 'escaped', they simply didn't put out an APB or anything about him so the regular forces really had no reason to look.

Anywhere to watch season 1 for free? Can't find episodes 2-17
coming to Netflix this month.
Thanks. Guess I should have checked there first :bag:

I like it so far. I'm guessing the FBI is this incompetent the whole time? Kind of like CTU all over again.
I never watched 24 (had to look up CTU). IMO James Spader is what makes the show worth watching. The FBI and the main chick are both a bit ridiculous at times, but Spader makes up for it.

Pretty in Pink. I dont think he was in Some Kind of Wonderful. Although many John Hughes movies tend to morph together over time.

New season tonight. Had to go back and read the plot of the last couple of episodes. Forgot the details ending last season. So we are led to believe Red was in the fire and saved Liz. Berlin is after Red because he thinks Red killed his daughter and sent him pieces of her in prison. Is Tom's character done, or was there a reason his body was gone when the FBI got there?

If this FBI ever offers their "protection" - RUN!!!!
Great advice. I may have missed it but how did they not have more agents on site when everyone was supposed to rush to Naomi? Instead of rushing her out knowing that an enemy is on the way they pour tea and coffee and hash out why she doesn't want to leave while only two agents are guarding the entry.Spader is phenomenal, but the story is trying to get too cute. Adding more mythology and conspiracies. Who could it be watching Liz, etc. I like this show and interested to see where it goes though. It's too bad Spader makes every other character look so bad.(for instance Resslers therapy session in front of other agents). Those actors are not in the same league.

Maybe I am getting stupid, but I'm having a harder time keeping up with everything they're throwing at us this season so far. It got kind of frustrating at the end of last year that you keep waiting for a payoff to get some answers that they've teased all season and nothing gets revealed. I feel like this season is just adding more and more questions. I hope we get some answers soon. Let me see if I have this straight:

- Mossad chick kidnaps Red last episode and he says the FBI will be calling to get him released. It happens with the other dude (pre-Cooper return) in charge. Was this part of getting Cooper back and the other dude gone? Was she providing Cooper intel on various blacklisters at the end, thus joining forces with the task force?

- Red is intimating Lizzie has an info source other than him, and that's how she knew Berlin's money was in the bank, yes?

- They're obviously keeping Red's ex-wife around, as she appears in the preview. Maybe that will provide some answers. Did I hear right that the daughter has not been located for the last 7 years?

- I wasn't sure I followed the "other" government guy who was in Warsaw who ended up attacking Keen. Was he there to protect the fact that the FBI was using that bank also as a way to funnel money for their funded operations by getting the girl? Is "The Formula" simply that girl and her memory?

Sorry I seem like an idiot. I usually watch the show on DVR later after it's been on, and I think my brain doesn't work properly at that point.

The casting of Berlin was a huge blunder. I like that actor, but he's been in so many bad guy roles verging on comic relief that he just can't pull off sinister and menacing in this role.

Wow I disagree completely. One of my favorite "bad guy" actors and I thought he was perfect.

I too find it hard following everything but I still love the show regardless.

Exactly.

This is reminiscent of that Red John storyline on Mentalist if anyone watched that. That dragged on for season after season.

wait let me finish my beer first....

I also agree. I love this show but at some point you have to start answering some questions and not just keep askng more. This is getting like Lost.

I'm at the point with this show where I just pay attention when Red is on camera. I don't give a #### about the scooby doo, Rockford Files badguy of the week. And this FBI ineptness is killing me.

Just had this conversation with my wife. You are trying to stop the worst disease in the history of mankind. There are only two agents there to do it? And they split up? And Keane didn't look for other bad guys before engaging?

Plus when Ressler shows up, 30 seconds after she gets knocked into the wall and she says "they got away" - I guess there was really no reason to chase after them or anything.

She had severe head trauma, you can't expect her to get up and he has to attend to the person with a non-life threatening injury. It's not like it was the bubonic plague, it was just the pneumonic plague.
