No way atlanta takes another black qb with questionable passing abilities. I agree with andy that the Falcons will go after brohm. A few weeks ago I would've said they take flacco or henne but brohm has been dropping lately for some reason and now they have a legit chance at himFiddles said:not sure if it matters but andre woodson gave a hell of an interview on local atl radio last weekgreat guy and well spokendefinately has his #### together
Though I have been known to pimp the hell out of Johnson and Flacco, Dixon is the name here to watch.Nice call CC, I agree this is spot on.Chaos Commish said:4. Dixon 6. Johnson7. Flacco
With all the teams at the top of the 2nd looking QB, I agree that Brohm becomes a mighty attractive player to trade up for in the late first, and the Falcons certainly have the bullets to do it.Jackson has the NFL arm and more ideal size than Johnson, and Johnson strikes me more of a WCO/quick strike offense guy rather than the kind of QB Minnesota needs with their running game anchoring the O, but honestly I wouldnt argue with any team that takes Johnson.Andy Dufresne said:With as average as the QBs are after Brohm, I'm betting that if Ryan goes first and Brohm falls, that a team like the Falcons will move up into the latter part of the 1st for him.Josh Johnson is more intriguing to me all the time. If the Vikings were interested in a 1-AA guy like Jackson, how much more interested should they be in a guy like Johnson?
Definitely agree on only 11 being drafted, I even wonder about Brennan.I need to see more of Brink, but the reports are good -Chaos Commish said:I think those first 11 are the guys we know are going to be drafted. It's even possible they are the only QBs to be drafted. If I were to add four names to the bottom of the list, Alex Brink is my #12. His improvement over three years of physical abuse was pretty impressive and in the end of his career, he looked like a QB who could develop into and NFL backup. Which is what you hope for from a QB 12 in the draft. After him I have almost no hope for anyone. I can't remember the games right now, but more than once I remember shaking my head negatively and thinking Paul Smith didn't have a prayer. I would go with Morris, Morelli and Matt Flynn to finish this off, but these are not guys to be very excited about, I think. On the first 11 (or 12)... oy, this isn't how I expect them to be drafted, but how I am ranking them for future production:Three not quite franchise QBs, but close enough...1. Brohm2. Ryan3. HenneThree capable of emerging as the best in class after a few years...4. Dixon 5. Woodson6. JohnsonThree very much worth giving a shot7. Flacco8. Brennan9. O'ConnellThree without much shot, but not much risk to find out late in the draft10. Ainge11. Booty12. BrinkAnd I actually like the top 9 QBs as prospects. I'm usually pretty negative after about 5 or 6. I think I like Brink better than Ainge and Booty, or just as much, meaning I don't think any of them have much of a shot, though Booty will probably be the earliest drafted, have the most invested in him and be given a realistic opportunity.
We talked to Woodson in Mobile and he was definitely well spoken and you could tell he was thinking, not rehearsed - honestly answering the questions and more than willing to talk about flaws in his game and what he needs to work on. Definitely a likeable kid that you have to root for.Fiddles said:not sure if it matters but andre woodson gave a hell of an interview on local atl radio last weekgreat guy and well spokendefinately has his #### together
Hawaii season ticket holder. Two of the things Brennan has going for him that were hard to see if you only watched him in the Sugar Bowl are his accuracy and his progression reads. June Jones' offense was extremely complex for the QBs/WRs... and Jones said Brennan went through his progressions better than any QB he's had in college or pro. But the clear "deal-maker" in my opinion is his accuracy. The guy is as solid as it gets when it comes to delivering the ball where it needs to be. I think this is what will keep him in the NFL for quite some time. Whether or not he'll get a chance to ever start is yet to be seen... but he is extremely accurate! It was a joy to watch him for 3 seasons.Definitely agree on only 11 being drafted, I even wonder about Brennan.
while I appreciate the effort, weren't you one of the guys who had Brady Quinn ranked as a top 3 pick last season?the guy couldn't even beat out Derrick Anderson at QB. Quinn is now the highest paid bench-warmer in the NFL.
Posts like this are so helpful. I've seen the light and now agree that we shouldn't discuss this stuff at all since there's a chance that a guy might not be a stud his first year in the league or that because of team needs might fall in the draft. I'm sure that the Brady Quinn example applies to all cases. I'm absolutely sure of it.Let's all just stop talking and take up quiet knitting or basket weaving or something.while I appreciate the effort, weren't you one of the guys who had Brady Quinn ranked as a top 3 pick last season?

point being, you might be wasting your time with QB ratings, I mean, Tom Brady was what, a 6th rounder? NO ONE ranked him.
who cares who the top 15 QB's in a draft are..if you're lucky, one, maybe two will actually blossom into NFL starters.
Aaron Rogers sat for years before starting in GB..Both Eli and Peyton struggled mightily their first 3-4 seasons as starters.
so, in 2012, are we to revisit this list and say 'Bloom was right, Brohm is a good QB'?
I'm not knocking your work, its just the QB position is in such flux and nothing ever goes as planned, that your service might be better with the focus on other positions.

Quinn is nowhere close to the highest paid backup. And since when do rookie qb's start right away in the NFL? Tom Brady didn't, Brees didn't, Romo didn't, Schaub didn't, Garrard didn't, Rivers didn't, Hasselbeck didn't, Culpepper didn't, Hall of Famers didn't. I could go on and on.while I appreciate the effort, weren't you one of the guys who had Brady Quinn ranked as a top 3 pick last season?the guy couldn't even beat out Derrick Anderson at QB. No. No. NO.Phil Savage, the professional that gets paid to do this stuff for a living, knew that Anderson would only emerge after drafting Brady Quinn and Charlie Frye started the season as the starter. If we guys sitting at our computers can't predict the future any better than that, what's the point of talking about it?was there anybody who didn't have quinn in the top 3?were there any national sources that successfully predicted anderson's emergence... its doubtful the browns players, coaches & front office could have foreseen it, or for that matter, even anderson himself...![]()
I agree completely with your hesitation on Flacco. I saw their first game at William and Mary last year and it was Cuff's name I was looking up in the program, not Flacco's. You've got to wonder how much the presence of Cuff helped with Flacco's success.
It's not as deep (though some will emerge), maybe a better player or two at the top, and it really really really depends on who stays in school and who comes out early. Tebow will be the most talked about. Bradford is my favorite (this early, but may stay in school). Stafford will be highly ranked if he doesn't tank. They are the best three I can see at this point. I like Rudy Carpenter's potential, but there's a long way to go.Hey Bloom,I don't follow college FB very much. How does this class compare to next years potential class? Would it be better to wait on a QB this year and wait to address the positipon next year? As a Bears fan, even though there seems to be a need, I'm wondering if the Bears would be better off passing (no pun intended) on QB ths year and fill their other (many) pressing needs such as OL, OL, WR, RB, and OL. They have both Rex and Orton signed to one year contracts and maybe they actualy pan out (don't laugh). I'm one of those in the minority who think Rex can still play at a high level. Whoever they draft this year realistically won't start anyway. Better to taget a QB this year (would have to be in the first two rounds to get anyone decent from what I understand) or wait 'til next?
I don't agree with Tanner's post; it's a little odd to be on a FF messageboard and heckle guys for doing ff rankings. That said, I think you are arguing his point, which I believe is: It is pointless to attempt to predict the QB position given the time it takes for a good QB to emerge from rookiedom, and the oddity that later round nobodies are the ones who sometimes do it.was there anybody who didn't have quinn in the top 3?were there any national sources that successfully predicted anderson's emergence... its doubtful the browns players, coaches & front office could have foreseen it, or for that matter, even anderson himself...![]()
Just like knowshon moreno, stafford will be returning to school in 2009. UGA will either be trying to repeat as nat'l champions(which I really hope is the case) or trying to win the championship they failed to get in '08Chaos Commish said:It's not as deep (though some will emerge), maybe a better player or two at the top, and it really really really depends on who stays in school and who comes out early. Is he the kid that was on Wake Forest, got injured, graduated and played last year as a grad student? I read an article somewhere on him (if it is indeed Mauck) and while the Wake coach was estatic for him, he was the first to say he never thought the kid could come back from his injury.I would love to see Ben Mauck to get a look somewhere. The NCAA denied his request for another year of eligibility. He has an amazing touch, great accuracy, and is a great competitor.
