Bob McNair must be a fantasy footballer (1 Viewer)

Owner Bob McNair confirms the Texans are not in the hunt for free agent Peyton Manning.

"We have a quarterback we're happy with," McNair said about Matt Schaub. Asked about Manning potentially landing with division rival Tennessee, McNair jokingly responded, "It really doesn't matter. We beat him when he was healthy, and we'll do it again." We suspect all reports that the Texans were in on Manning came from the QB's camp as a means to drive up his price tag.

This was kind of funny to me. In FF, we are so wrapped up in recent history and tend to forget the past VERY quickly; commonly tossing good players to the side the moment they have a bad mmonth.

Texans owner Bob McNair talks a big talk about beating Manning before and "will do it again".

Well Bob, in games when Manning was healthy, you are 2-16 against him.

Two wins in a decade. But MY how things have changed when you can kick a guy when he is down. Man, I hope the texans play Manning's new team this year!

McNair is not about kicking a guy when he is down. I think he is just confident where his teams is right now, and possibly confident that Manning may never be as good as he was. I see that statement being all about the confidence he has in his team, and this is the first time in franchise history that he can say something like that and not betotally looked at like a fool.

The part of the blurb you quoted says McNair's was a joking response. I heard the audio of it just now on the radio, and the tongue-in-cheekness of it was evident. It resulted in a round of laughter from the reporters present. You're taking the comment way too seriously.
