Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin has been favorably compared to Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward, and Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt plans to use Boldin in similar ways.

Boldin has been moved from the "X" receiver to the "Z", where he played his rookie year. The Cardinals will move him around the formation, but he'll line up in the slot more than he did last year.

As the Steelers offensive coordinator the past three years, Whisenhunt developed a reputation for occasionally using gadget plays, so Boldin also could be called upon to throw once in awhile. What Boldin really wants to do, however, is to take a few of those 550 rushing attempts that Whisenhunt would like to have in a season.

"I don't have to throw the ball, just put me in the backfield a couple of times and let me run it, I'll be OK," Boldin said with a smile.

Would he be all right with running behind a fullback?

"Who me? Running behind a fullback? I wouldn't mind, extra blocker, but just put me in the 'I' by myself and I'll be OK."

As much as I like this :newBoldinOwner:, and think Boldin could do alright there (somewhere along the lines of Javon Walker), with that OLine, I want that fullback in front of him.How good a passer is Boldin?

He's probably as good a passer as a WR can be. Didn't he play the Sugar Bowl at QB back during his FSU days?

I'd say he could pass pretty well since he was recruited to FSU as a QB and later converted to WR, ala Hines Ward

This bumps Boldin and Leinart up a little. This is where he should have been playing all along.I see more TDs and consistency going forward.

Im not sure I understand your statement here. You think Boldin can do alright...somewhere along the lines of Javon Walker? He has been doing more than alright in his four years in the league. He has been doing better than Walker in his four years. I guess Im just confused by this statement. In Walkers 5 years in the league, he has gone over 1,000 yds twice. The most rec he has ever had was 89.

In Boldins 4 years in the league, he has topped the 1,000 yds three times. He has also topped 100 rec. twice.

Both missed time in one of their seasons due to injury.

Boldin has been greater than Walker in the last three yrs.

Adding some running and gadget plays with Boldin makes him just as intriguing this year as any other.

I think he was just saying Boldin might do as well rushing as Walker, who last year had 9/123/1 rushing (13.7 ypc).

thank you, yes. That's what I said. I'm not sure how that was confusing, unless you want the fullback in front of Boldin downfield.

He's probably as good a passer as a WR can be. Didn't he play the Sugar Bowl at QB back during his FSU days?
:headbang: Adrian McPherson had been kicked off the team and Chris Rix was suspended for the game. So, some guy named Fabian Walker started and pretty much sucked. Boldin was 6-14-78-1-0 and had another TD dropped. I remember being impressed with his passes.

Game recap and stats.

:boxing: I either never knew this or forgot. He won't be Wisenhunt's Randle El, but he'll suffice.

boldin was actually slated to be the starting QB at FSU in 2001 before tearing his ACL in preseason.

For what its worth, in high school, playing QB, he won the "Mr. Florida" award for the best football player in that state.

Also, the guy is such a practice perfetionist, that if there is a chance he will throw the ball in the season, you can bet he's working on in with a QB coach right now. Sky's the limit for this kid, IMO.

Am I alone in seeing certain similarities between Boldin and Marvin Harrison?

They're both good, but I have always been under the impression that Harrison runs silky smooth routes, whereas Boldin fights tooth and nail for everything he gets.
