Those little bottles of Eagle Rare are adorable.Buddy just dropped a pint of Eagle Rare off in my mailbox. God Bless America.
I’m a cocktail guy, manhattans, not a big fan of redemption in the mix.I am really liking the Redemption bourbons and ryes. Low price point and very good.
Your taste buds will be bastardized after scotch.Picked up some Russell Reserve Single Barrel. Heard it compared favorably to the Pappy 15. I'll crack it after I finish off this Scotch.
New RiffI’m a relative novice to bourbon but last night I nailed a blind tasting of my home stock.
Included were Larceny small batch, Evan Williams bottled in bond, Pikesville Rye, 1792 small batch, and Woodford Reserve double oaked, in ascending order of preference. Granted these encompass a lot of different styles but I didn’t think I’d actually be able to pick them apart.
Really the double oaked is a different experience than the rest, more of a dessert bourbon, while the 1792 hits some great fruity notes with a nice smooth afterburn. The Larceny was the only one I think I wouldn’t buy again; it’s the same price as the 1792 where I am but for me didn’t offer anything interesting on the nose or the palette.
If anyone knows of any more affordable bourbons (sub $40) similar to the WR double oaked, I'd love to try some.
That's crazy. Total Wine in my area has it for $25.Loca place charging $90 for buffalo trace

Dang - three of my favs! I'm working through a bottle of Old Forrester 1870 right now.My haul today
Haven't had any of them before. First time I've seen the Whistlepig in stock at my store.
Was just clicking around that site and noticed they have Buffalo Trace listed 2 different ways...same SKU, but one is $3 cheaper (25 vs 28). Here's the cheaper one: https://jensensliquors.com/products/buffalo-trace-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey.htmlI've seen folks saying they can't find Buffalo Trace in their stores. I've ordered from these guys quite a bit, and they are very good. I got an e-mail today pushing Buffalo Trace.

Never had whistlepig but have enjoyed the ryes that I have tried in the past. Should I try whistlepig? My haul today

So the first 2 weeks or so of the lockdown, liquor sales were way up. They have leveled back off. However, it’s lower priced brands and 1.75s that we’re selling the most. So, yes, I do think it might be easier to find high end bourbons.I was thinking - any chance harder to find whiskey is easier to find right now, with all the stay home orders?
My go-to store had some whistlepig in stock but it was >$100 is there a more rare batch or something or is it all that expensive? My haul today

Can you post pictures of the Old Fitz bottle?@[icon] @kutta And any other of our experts. A buddy of mine asked me which was better of these 2 bourbons he was given from a friend of his. Their son had left them behind when he moved or something and they had no use for them.
W.L Weller Centennial 10 Years Old
Old Fitzgerald Very Special 12 Years Old
At first I told him I haven't had either but I really enjoy the Weller line. After looking online I find that the Weller Centennial may not have been produced after 2008. Some online sites have this at a ridiculous price! Is it worth some money? I told him not to open it.

Those are both right in my wheelhouse, but I have not had either. If I had to bet which one I would like better I would go with the Weller just based on their respective distilleries. Buffalo Trace made the Weller, while Heaven Hill made the Old Fitzgerald.@[icon] @kutta And any other of our experts. Both are very nice whiskeys, but I haven't had either one. Both the Weller line and the Old Fitz lines are heavily wheated bourbons, if I remember correctly. I usually like bourbons with more rye, so I find myself not drinking those lines very often. Weller is made by Buffalo Trace, which is a fantastic distillery, IMO.
Sorry I can't offer more. It sounds like you guys need a special occasion and a couple of nice whiskey glasses
One suggestion would be to send it to my address...Need a $200 bottle delivered to California. Any suggestions?
Ha. Has anyone had Barrel Craft 15?One suggestion would be to send it to my address...
I'd go with the Old Fitz myself - it says "VERY SPECIAL" right there on the bottle.
I'd sell (or trade) the Weller and drink the Old Fitzgerald. Someone will pay big for it.@[icon] @kutta And any other of our experts. He ended up selling both bottles for $700 total. Not bad for "found money". He doesn't even drink bourbon. More backstory on this. His wife was going to make a bourbon glaze for some salmon. He sent a pic of the bottles to a mutual friend asking him which was a better bourbon. The friend sent it to me and I originally told him the Weller was better but he better not throw it in some Coke. Didnt know his wife had planned on cooking it.I'd sell (or trade) the Weller and drink the Old Fitzgerald. Someone will pay big for it.
I've enjoyed the 1 bottle of Barrel I have, sourced product and all. But it was #5. Don't know about 15.Ha. Has anyone had Barrel Craft 15?

After looking it up on the net for a minute I texted him back and said "DON'T OPEN EITHER BOTTLE!!" and came to this thread for some advice on what it was really worth.
