Brady lobbying for D.Branch - SeaMike bump up? (1 Viewer)

I've been trying to get a better idea what to make of the Seahawks WRs particular Mike Williams who I'm trying to judge whether to drop him to make room for bye week filler or hold him through his bye. My eyes tell me he looked slow (from the one reception against the niners in week1 and his inabiliy to get separation on a regular basis since then) and his fantasy numbers are disappointing. But I'm also thinking that playing banged up is the reason for his disappointing fantasy numbers and that his bye week will give him the needed rest and heal and he'll come back from the bye in the true low WR1 form.

While googling any updates, I came across this article. How likely is this trade? NE does have the draft picks to overpay and make an offer Carroll may not be able to refuse.

Brady lobbying for Branch

Tom Brady Has Reportedly 'Been Lobbying' For Deion Branch

Knowing about the pending Randy Moss trade, Tom Brady apparently started making a case for Deion Branch as his replacement last week, according to the Globe's Shalise Manza Young.

On Branch: knowing Moss trade was coming, Brady has been lobbying him over last week; P. Carroll reluctant to let him go

It'd make sense that head coach Pete Carroll is "reluctant to let him go." Losing Branch would leave Seattle with a WR group of second-year guy Deon Butler, disappointing pro Mike Williams (the USC one) and Ben Obomanu, he of the career-high 12 catches.

I'd start by reading the 3 page thread entitled 'WR Deion Branch Back to NE'

I think at this point 'overpaying' would be offering up a 5th.

*ahem*

For this season Mike Williams will be of marginal value. Dynasty target Deon Butler as much as possible (PPR). Look for the Seahawks to add either Vincent Jackson or a prototypical #1 Receiver in the off-season (via draft).

You're welcome.

I expect musical chairs with VJax and DBranch. NE appears to be shopping for another WR and these two names have been bounced around in the rumor mill. Wouldn't get it passed me to see if Belichick is just playing with ppls heads and creating a misdirection where his interest is elsewhere or just muddying the waters for any other VJax speculations. That's just me giving Bill his credit as the master of head games. But, if NE wanted Branch they have enough draft picks to make it worthwhile for the Seahawks, and the Seahawks in turn should be trying to turn it into a 3-game trade blockbuster so that VJax ends up there. For that to happen, a lot of things have to fall in place, but I would think all three teams could benefit if it were to happen. As far a SeaMike, I would think he would have to come out the bye proving he still has WR1 potential. Otherwise, I would think after week 6 would be the time to cut bait on him.
