According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Giants RB Brandon Jacobs is promising a big game against the Redskins this week. "I'll bounce back from Sunday," he said, "and play the best game of my life this Sunday." In the victory against the Eagles four days ago --his first game back after missing two with his hamstring injury -- Jacobs ran for 70 yards on 22 carries for an average of 3.2 yards per rush. It was the first time this season he had been held to less than 4 yards per carry, but his season average is 4.9 yards per attempt. Against the Eagles, Jacobs wasn't nearly as elusive or powerful as he usually is. He was stopped for a loss four times, including three consecutive rushes in the first quarter, and he broke only four tackles. But the most troubling parts of Jacobs' performance were his two fumbles. He will look to avoid that this week.

How can you not start him now? If he indeed does what he says he's going to do, what are we looking at, 150/3? Even if he doesn't have the best game of his career, he seems intent on having a very good game which I'd have to say would be something like 100/1 or 2? I was on the fence about Jacobs this week, but after putting up with the disappointments all year, and hearing him come out and make a statement like that, it seems like you gotta give him a shot this week in a crucial spot, doesn't it?

Do you think if I put the word out to Angelina Jolie that I am going to put out the best sex of my life this weekend, that she would move me into her starting lineup?

You got a link to this?

encouraging words.

I'm downloading last weeks game as I type to try to "scout" Jacobs a little bit. I want to try to get down to why he had so many carries for negative yardage in the first quarter (no holes? tentative on the hammy?) and see how he looked in general.

Judging from watching the gamecenter and looking at the play by play he was on the verge of having a big day... but the fumbles and getting caught for a loss really set him back.

The weather reports surrounding this game have me nervous though.

Lousy weather adds up to more running in general....they have to move the ball somehow.

True... but it also adds up to players falling down and losing the ball easier... 2 areas where Jacobs has had issues.

A motivated 260 lb RB is a welcome site to my line up

wish I would have sat Selvin for him
wow, you played Selvin over him :coffee: I had to play Selvin and it was out of desperation because LJ and Bush are out and my only other choice was Kolby Smith (LT is my rb1)To the article, doesn't a player try and have his best game EVERY game??? I don't see how Jacobs will run any harder. In the Philly game the Eagles were bringing pressure all day which led to many lost yards. the fumbles are another issue.

As long as he scores 17 pts for me...I'll be happy. I have him in my flex position.

I wish the Giants would use him at the goal line more though!

Me too. That's one thing I've not been able to figure with Coughlin this year. Last year Jacobs was the goal line vulture when Tiki was the primary runner. Now this year, Droughns is the goal line vulture when Jacobs is the primary runner. Did Jacobs all of a sudden in less than one year's time forget how to run over the stripe????The only thing I can think of is that Coughlin may think that running between the 10's winds a guy and he can't give 100% at the goal line? I would think that is what conditioning and practice are for.I'm still starting him this week regardless, and hoping for at least 100 and a TD.

Or that he doesn't like to expose his starting RBs to the punishment that is given to a RB in short-yardage and goal line situations. I think we have been seeing this kind of thinking from more coaches year after year. I'm not sure yet if it is a worthy trend or just the copycat league at work.

You may see that start to change. I've been reading (ESPN I think) that Droughn's inability to do anything with his goal line carries last week may be forcing a change in the thinking of him as the primary GL back. But we'll have to wait and see. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jacob's getting pulled less and less though.

 Was thinking something similar.....

I started Young in a PPR over Jacobs too. He had a cake matchup but turned out Houston Dline played the game of their life. Jacobs has a very tough matchup. I only ended up with 9.2 pts or so, I bet Jacobs does better but the matchup of Young was much better. Houston had give up 100 yards and a TD to just about anyone this year.

Mr Potato Chip himself, talks about having his best game ever? this is exactly the sort of game the Giants lose...just when you think they are a 'good' team, they'll go and throw a stinker out there..this is going to be their bad game,imo..

the guy on the other team might have a big day; Clinton Portis..

I hope so as a Redskins fan. This game could go either way, but I think 65/35 the Giants win 20-17 or so. I am having the toughest time with Jacobs or FWP in a no PPR league. Jacobs losing the goal line carries blows, not to mention he seems to sprain his vag every week.

I liked Jacobs going into the season but man this guy seems to get banged up every game. Maybe HK was right.

He's such a big target. I mean everytime the guy touches the ball the defense is trying to kill him, lol. I own him and live in NY and he just gets pounded. He gives it out but he takes a ton of shots. 2 out of the 5 drops tonight Eli did his best Bret Favre impression and tried to take his hands off. The other 3 he was trying to make somehting happen before he had the ball.
