Brandon Lloyd being shopped around (1 Viewer)

John Clayton gives Lloyd a 15% chance of being traded. Per Twitter
That's kind of funny, not 10, not 20 but 15. He should just use a word like highly unlikely to be traded. Why would they trade their best WR when they're going to try out their young QB, doesn't make sense to me. You need to give Tebow every shot they can at being successful so they can see if this guy is their future. You don't trade away your best WR to cripple your offense, at least that's my opinion.I have Lloyd in a couple of leagues and wished they would trade him, to St. Louis but to me that doesn't make sense for the reasons I mentioned above, I don't care about draft picks etc..., they need to find out if Tebow is their guy or not os they can move forward with him or put this thing to rest.

I think Decker.
I would think, but isn't Thomas their 1st round pick?
Who cares what round pick they are? I dont know what round Lloyd got picked in, certainly not the first, and he's their #1 WR.Id say Decker but we havent seen Thomas with Tebow.
I would think that with the investment they made in Thomas they will give him every chance to succeed. He hasn't had a chance to show his stuff yet because of injuries. I would think they'd want to see what they have in him.
I didnt say that. Him and Decker will start when he's back. Im just saying Id rather have Decker on my team right now than Thomas

When Tim Tebow was named starting quarterback this week, knee-jerk fantasy response favored Brandon Lloyd, who showed a connection with the polarizing lefty slinger upon the QB switch for Weeks 15-17 last year. But rumors of the Denver Broncos offering up the wideout before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline cloud the 2010 star's potential for the rest of 2011.

Lloyd was already brandished the fantasy bust bull's eye coming into this season thanks to Denver's hiring of John Fox and the presumed implementation of a ground-oriented O.

They've held up the latter point, with Willis McGahee being the most consistent fantasy Bronco so far. But with Denver trailing often this year, they've at least kept up a hint of the aerial game. Kyle Orton did his part. When Tebow came in during Week 5 action, he showed what's to come: a tantalizing, sometimes terrifying amalgamation of Michael Vick, Steve Young and Boomer Esiason. He'll run if given the choice and will challenge deep when necessarily, but he'll struggle to stay in the pocket and connect on possession-type routes.

On paper, the coming of Tebow knocks Eric Decker down a peg. But if Lloyd must climb down from Mile High, Decker's stock will stay put. It'll just have less upside.

Lloyd remains on pace for a 1,000-yard season along with another high-70s catch total. It remains to be seen whether he can be a true No. 1 wideout if his system can't boost him, but there's still plenty of upside here depending on his landing spot. Oh, and he has dropped just one pass in 32 targets this season.

.

Among the teams rumored to be interested are the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans, who've lost starting wideouts Joshua Morgan and Kenny Britt for the season to knee injuries. Both teams are playoff contenders, so it wouldn't be surprising if they entered the bidding. For San Fran, it might depend on the timetable of Braylon Edwards (knee), and the Tennessee Titans have to be pleased with what sophomore Damian Williams has offered in spurts.

With Matt Hasselbeck at the helm, the Titans' passing game has some thump again; this would be a favorable setup for Lloyd. The Niners have improved on O, especially with Alex Smith's growing efficiency, and Lloyd could stretch the field effectively.

The sheer number of receivers could make this messy, though, so it wouldn't be his fantasy Shangri-La.The St. Louis Rams would make sense because of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who nurtured Lloyd's breakthrough last year. They have ample wideouts - Danario Alexander, Brandon Gibson, Mike Sims-Walker, Austin Pettis, Greg Salas, the soon-returning Mark Clayton - but could use consistency from someone familiar with the system.

Even with their increasingly productive tight end use, the Carolina Panthers could use an outside complement to Steve Smith. Brandon LaFell and Legedu Naanee are showing flashes but haven't played like long-term solutions. Luckily, Cam Newton has to throw a bunch because Carolina is often losing, and he doesn't shy away from the deep ball. Lloyd could flourish in single coverage across from No. 89. A potential instant upgrade....

The Jacksonville Jaguars crave wideout production. It's Mike Thomas, Jason Hill (thigh) and ... good luck. Though they've drafted WRs recently, they could use a deep threat to help Blaine Gabbert grow. If he goes here, you'll probably have to wait until next year for him to pay fantasy dividends.

Of course, the last three squads aren't in the thick of the postseason race, so Lloyd would have to come cheap. A third-round NFL Draft selection could get it done. Who knows who else will jump in the race after this weekend; we could have a surprise suitor.

Maybe Lloyd staying in Denver wouldn't be such a bad thing given how close he is with Tebow. His owners should hold tight until the swap cut-off passes, but if he faces a drop-off in his fantasy environment, he could quickly fade into the background. Grab yourself some WR backup plans.

No interest in Brandon Lloyd

Arizona Cardinals update:

The Denver Post is reporting that the Broncos are talking to other teams about trading receiver Brandon Lloyd. The Cardinals are not one of those teams, according to a source.

Lloyd led the NFL in 2010 with 1,448 receiving yards. There are several reasons why the Broncos are willing to trade Lloyd: two other receivers are returning from injury; they are switching to a more conservative offensive scheme with Tim Tebow at quarterback; and Lloyd is a free agent after this season.

It's unknown exactly why the Cardinals aren't interested, but the reasons likely are contained in the above paragraph. Lloyd is not under contract beyond 2011. Last year was a breakout season for him but it could also be viewed as an anomaly. He's never approached those numbers before. And he's 30. And it's quite possible the Cardinals are sincere when they say they like the other receivers they have: Andre Roberts, Early Doucet, DeMarco Sampson, Stephen Williams and Chansi Stuckey.

They need to CUT Fox now. He sucked at developing receivers in Carolina and now he's doing a Mangini/Danials by gutting the team for no reason.

If he keeps Loyd and lets him go to free agency he probably gets a higher round compensation pick than he will trading for a 6th or at best 5th pick.

Homers, what kind of production would you expect out of Eric Decker, with Lloyd out of town and Tebow at the helm? Haven't had the opportunity to watch any games this year. What do you view as his floor/ceiling?

Thanks.

I think we saw his floor AND his ceiling last week. Floor: 2 catches for - 4 yards. What he ended up with. But if Tebow had't JUST missed with a long bomb, it would have been 3 catches for 86 yards and a TD. Someone called him a white TO after the Denver Oakland game and I haven't been able to get that out of my head even though fantasy experts like Bloom make him sound like a possession route runner type. Mediocre possession threats don't have the games he's had. So while I can't say I'd start him with extreme confidence after last week, I am pretty well enticed by his potential without Lloyd no matter what the expert consensus says. Of course, I'm often wrong :)Seriously, though, it's hard to believe his strength, size, ball tracking, and YAC (he had a punt return for a TD) are all a fluke, isn't it?

Broncos front office has a history of trading players who request a trade - see cutler & marshall. I think Lloyd requested this, and not.sure why.

If true, it could be a guy coming off a stellar season, playing in a "contract year", and he just saw his QB situation go from bad-to-worse? Doesn't exactly add up to a big pay day to stay in Denver.

i think lloyd made his preference for orton clear many times over so its not a surprise. anyway, it seems that teams dont want to waste draft picks on a journeyman underachiever one yr wonder 30 yr old that requires a new contract.

I assumed this as well, but I have no problem understanding why. The Broncos are terrible and they just switched to a QB who can't throw.

Just pure speculation here...But does anyone else see this as a full-on "Suck for Luck" move by Elway? You know he doesn't have much faith in Tebow, so by getting rid of the #1 WR, the entire offense is downgraded and supports the effort to lose. After all, everyone knows Elway has a mancrush on the kid. They're both Cardinal QBs.
It could be a win/win situation for the Broncos. If Tebow is for real they'll start winning games. If Tebow is a bust they could win the Suck for Luck contest.

I'm assuming it would be WR1 Thomas, WR2 Decker, Slot RoyalRight? I had Decker but dropped him in one of my leagues, might consider picking him back up or going for Thomas. Thomas hasn't played in awhile though and might take a second to get adjusted.
You dumped the 19th best producing PPR WR so far? What is up with you guys?1 bad game ... wow ...
2 good games and you think he will keep producing at that 19th best level.
What makes you think that? I never made a prediction..Actually, I don't look at Decker as more than a low WR3/-flex/biweek guy.. But he's certainly worth holding onto with what he's shown so far..Ur off the mark

Well, what if they really don't want to win at this point? What if they want to be in the Andrew Luck sweep stakes? I know teams don't really WANT to lose, but that doesn't mean they don't make strategic calculations about what is in the long term best interests of the team. Keeping a 30 year old WR who is going to be an expensive free agent and winning a few games that make you 5-11 instead of 3-13, really may not be a good investment. Unless you believe in Tebow. If you really believe in Tebow, and think he can help your team win THIS year, then you keep Lloyd. But I don't think Fox and company believe in Tebow, and they want him to burn out fast so that they can move on to Quinn and maybe a first round pick next year.

Rumors about the Rams...

There are talks in league circles that the Rams could be making a play to acquire Broncos WR Brandon Lloyd, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

The Rams are 0-4 and adding a piece at the expense of draft picks usually isn't wise for a rebuilding team. However, Florio hints that there are some in the Rams organization that may want to win now for job security, and Lloyd's performance under Josh McDaniels is well-documented. This is in the rumor stage right now, but owners can get a leg up by researching the potential impacts of such a move.

So they want to trade the player most likely to catch the poorly thrown balls from Tebow?
I don't think any other player on the Broncos has the skill set to catch footballs consistently thrown at their shoe laces or 5 yards off the intended route. Decker has been good but he's benefited from being at the WR2 slot since he's not getting double team or smothered by good cb's. I have no faith in Thomas or Royal, both have shown an inability to stay healthy to ever be reliable. For Denver it's a good choice for them because their season is dead, no run game, offense scheme just got turned upside it's head, Lloyd is gone next year and at least in this case they can get something from him instead of letting him go. They put themselves in good standing to win the suck for Luck lottery.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirms that the Rams have had "several conversations" with the Broncos about a potential trade for Brandon Lloyd.

According to the Post-Dispatch, the Rams "almost certainly" wouldn't offer a third-round pick for Lloyd, which is the maximum Denver is asking. A report from the Denver Post indicated the Broncos had only received seventh-round proposals as of midday Sunday. This Post-Dispatch report was from Sunday afternoon, but stories from FOX Sports' Jay Glazer and the Denver Post throughout the day have confirmed that there is ongoing interest from St. Louis.

The Pats have been big in this and apparently agreeed to what the pick would be to acquire Lloyd, but they have not been able to get him to sign an extension so talks have seemingly stalled.

I tend to go with this logic. Cecil Lammey has been talking about this for months now about how big of an Orton guy Lloyd was. There were no rumors of Brandon Lloyd being traded before Tebow was starting.

I'd be happy with that
not sure I'd be happy with that as a fantasy owner
I was thinking the Pat's were right there with the Niner's as bad landing spots for him, in regards to Fantasy. He'd be option #4 on the Pat's, or at best #3, and the Niner's don't throw much. Ram's seem to be the ideal location, from a fantasy perspective of course. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Ram's pull this deal off and he becomes a really good WR3, with WR1 upside on some weeks.

Hoping for the Rams where he'll see 10 targets per game. He would just be an afterthought on NE or SF. Heck, he might only see the field for 30% of snaps in NE if he doesn't pick up the playbook quickly.

Fixed
Orton was a top 10 QB in total yards last year despite starting only 13 games.San Fran should try to get Orton too while they're at the bargaining table.

Deal could be reached today

Trade talks involving Brandon Lloyd intensified Sunday night, with the Broncos hoping they can complete a deal for their Pro Bowl receiver by today. At one point Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers were showing the strongest interest, but the New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams were also in discussions, according to two NFL sources. The trading deadline is 2 p.m. MDT on Tuesday. Given their druthers, the Broncos would like to move Lloyd before practice today as they return from their bye week to resume preparations for their next game, Sunday at Miami. (Denver Post)

It would be death if he went to New England.

I doubt he goes to NE. NE hardly buys at peak market... Lloyd is likely not ever going to be more valuable than he is today. Coming off a great season, and currently toting a very nice completion percentage..

Do you really believe that is Lloyd is traded it would be john fox's doing? If he has his druthers he would stick with Orton as well. This decision came from elway. It's a business decision bc of Lloyd's contract. Elway feels that they have a deep set of wrs that are getting healthy and he does not want to pay a 30 ur old wr the type of $ that Lloyd will command next year as an fa. Fox is just a pawn.

I doubt we'll see explosions...as Lloyd will see bracket coverage in St Louis (no one else is even a decent threat on the field)... but, I'd just be happy if he ends up being a consistent fantasy WR2 in St Lou...

so, doesn't look like he did anything today. anyone know if they benched him because he's traded؟
He got shut down by the best defensive back in the league, #6 B. Weeks.
B weeks has shut everybody down this year with the notable exception of Jackie Battle...
