Broncos WR Marshall Called Out By Attorney

Lindsay H. Jones, Denver Post - [Full Article]

A day after Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall and his attorney publicly claimed that his March 6 arrest was the result of a "shakedown," his former girlfriend's attorney fired back. "His story that he has been a victim is as pathetic as the story that he slipped on a McDonald's bag and injured his arm," David McGill, one of the two attorneys representing Rasheedah Watley, said Thursday night. "Hopefully, he will be as eager to tell his story in a court of law, under oath, as he has been in the media."
It might be time to sell high on Brandon Marshall.
Sell high???? His value is has pretty much fallen already in the last few days.. It's to late..
Sell Medium?
Sell? I'm going to destroy the competition with Marshall lined up in the #2 slot at WR all year baby.http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008...oncos-marshall/

The way Marshall's hand feels now - "almost 100 percent," as he described it - has only made him more secure that he'll deliver on his public promise of a second straight 100-catch season. Only now, he has some basis for his bravado.

Sell your 100 catch WR. That's right sell and watch him tear your team a new one. Time to dominate!!!! :(

Right hand totally healed. Read it and weep sellers.

We'll have to see, this guy seems like a Chris Henry/Pacman Jones character, he just can't stay out of trouble. What's worse is he thinks he's the "victim" all the time which is pathetic and shows he doesn't think he is doing anything wrong, that mentality is typical of people who end up in jail. He's a trainwreck waiting to happen, his McDonalds bag slipping, I just don't buy it, the guy is full of it. He got called out by his QB. I could see him being the next guy to be suspended indefinatley. He sure seems to like beating up on women, it's a habit for him. He's not a role model, he's a thug.

I have 3 sister-in-laws, none has ever attempted physical harm done on me, I have known them for about 16 years now. This guy is trash.
:thumbup:For a minute there I thought you actually knew something about the case.
x2"my interactions with the people I know serve as a reasonable basis upon which to judge someone else's interactions with a completely different set of people"lmao the Chachi rule of sister-in-laws states that they utterly lack the capacity to be dangerous

Sheesh.

This guy looks primed to get a year long suspension.

On March 18, 2007, Watley told police that Marshall hit her and took her purse from a hotel in Atlanta.

On June 8, 2007, Watley claimed that Marshall cut her in the thigh and punched her in the head.

Also on June 8, 2007, Watley’s friend, Kristeena Spivey, claimed that Marshall hit her car while she and Watley were in it. Spivey said that Marshall then threw a rock at the passenger door of the car.

Then, on June 30, 2007, Watley told police that Marshall had punched and choked her.

Unless Marshall changes his ways right now, he deserves not just a suspension, but to be banished. As we’ve recently argued on several occasions, folks who work in some capacity other than playing pro football get fired from their jobs for far less stuff, every day.

What better way to get the message across to all of the players than to fire one of them? Few have been as deserving, in our view, as Pacman Marshall.

From the Denver post.

Marshall's transgressions

Oct. 31, 2004

Brandon Marshall faced misdemeanor charges of trespass, resisting arrest without violence, disorderly conduct, refusal to obey and assault on an officer in a Halloween arrest his junior year at Central Florida. Charges were dismissed.

April 8, 2005

Marshall was charged with retail theft, a misdemeanor, after police in Orlando, Fla., accused him of trying to return a stolen set of bed sheets at a Burlington Coat Factory. The charge was dropped.

June 17, 2006

Marshall and girlfriend Rasheedah Watley both filed police reports alleging physical abuse by the other in an hours-long fight at Marshall's Orlando apartment. No arrests.

Jan. 24, 2007

Police interviewed Marshall and his father after an argument in an Orlando parking lot. Marshall claimed his father tried to hit him with his car, while the father told police Marshall had shot a gun. Both declined to press charges.

March 18, 2007

Watley told Atlanta police that Marshall had punched her and taken her purse while at a downtown hotel. Marshall left before police arrived and no charges were filed.

March 21, 2007

Police in Palm Beach County, Fla., interviewed Marshall and Watley twice in one night after two loud arguments. Both said the incidents were not physical, and no arrests were made.

March 26, 2007

Marshall was arrested in Highlands Ranch on charges of domestic violence and false imprisonment after another argument. Charges were dropped in May 2007.

June 8, 2007

Two incident reports were filed by Atlanta police. The first was to investigate damage to private property when Watley's friend alleged that Marshall hit her car and then threw a rock at the passenger door, near where Watley was riding. In the other, Watley told police Marshall had cut her in the thigh and punched her in the face. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Marshall was not on the scene, and no charges were filed.

June 30, 2007

Watley told Atlanta police Marshall had punched and choked her at his condo, leaving a bruise on her eye and scratches on her body. He was not on scene, and no charges were filed.

Oct. 22, 2007

Marshall was arrested and charged with DUI after he allegedly drove the wrong way on a one-way street in downtown Denver, hours after a Broncos game.

March 4-6, 2008

Three incident reports and one criminal warrant were filed after Watley and Marshall got into a fight at his Atlanta condo. She told police Marshall had punched her in the mouth and eye. Marshall told police his hand was also cut on glass during the incident, which included Watley's two younger sisters. Marshall was arrested March 6 on a misdemeanor battery charge. Formal charges have not been filed.

May 21, 2008

An Atlanta police officer was dispatched to Marshall's condo to enforce Watley's temporary restraining order while Watley was there removing her belongings. The officer described Marshall as being cooperative and Watley as argumentative, though Watley told the officer she felt threatened by Marshall and his relatives who were also there.

Hard to catch 100 if you're suspended. Would you rather take a guy that has a 50% chance of catching 100+ or guy that has a 90% of catching 80?

He could still play all 16 this season - and he might not. I'm relatively impartial (I don't own Marshall in any leagues, nor do I have any deep-seeded hatred for him or the Broncos) - but, imho, the more that we learn about his off the field actions and his run-ins with the law, the more he's sounding like Pacman or Chris Henry, and less like Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison.

If he puts up a good season for you, that's great for you - but that's a risk that might not be worth taking, especially given his relatively high ADP, comparable to some much safer bets (Ward, Burress, Boldin, Williams, Welker, etc.).

convictions dont matter to Roger.and besides that the pattern of being a dooshbag is there.
Yeah, there's just the idea that it's just a matter if time.
Yeah, at some point in the next month or so I'm sure I'll turn on the PC, go to FBG shark pool and see Marshalls name about 15 times on the front page, I'll decide to jump to ESPN and see the top story being Goodell suspended Marshall either for half the year or the year or indefinate. The reason for the suspension is he does not reflect the image that Goodell wants for the league, this has been done before and will be done again, this guy has about 12 incidents in the past 2 years and I'm sure Goodell is aware of that. Then I'll come back to FBG and half the post are about how we seen this coming and the other half will mainly be Fantasy owners being angry that their guy is gone, it won't be Bronco fans, I've read their boards and most of them want this guy gone now.

No Broncos fans I know want him gone, and if some do they are ignorant to how the NFL works. You do not get better by cutting your best offensive weapon. I agree he is a headcase and probably will do something ot get kicked out of the league but I'm willing to ride this ship down and hope for the best.

Yeah, that'd be my attitude if I was a Broncs fan. He is a special talent, you just have to hope for the best. Just getting rid of him? Way too early for that kind of talk.

thats my attitude as an owner. I didn't have to pay squat to get him and I am not unloading him cheap now. We'll see what happens, I don't see him missing more than 2 games this year, time will tell....

Goodell certainly could suspend him, but he has a couple things in his favor:1) No longer with Watley, the source of most of his trouble.2) Has stayed out of trouble since injuring his arm.I don't think he gets suspended right now, but one more incident and he's gone for at least 4 games.

I traded him and high draft pick for Randy Moss. If he ends up playing the whole season, great. But i'd be very surprised if he ends up not getting some sort of suspension with all of his problems.

I think the projections by the FBG's staff for this guy are way short, assuming no suspension.

He caught 100 last year, is entering his 3rd year, caught passes from an under-the-weather QB, and Denver barely upgraded their WR's. Darrell Jackson is nearly done. Keary Colbert will probably never be any good. That leaves the 6'4" ever-improving stud WR to catch another 100 balls.

It's quite obvious that nobody here has ever dealt with a poisonous, half crazy woman. It's foolish to judge a man too harshly based SOLELY on his dealings with a single woman, particularly when he never did enough to land behind bars, even for a night. I know nothing about the man personally, but he's being wrongly attacked here based on what I have seen.

Only the DUI stands out as credible. Goodell is no fool...he isn't likely to suspend a player based on the statements of this woman. Obviously, Marshall is on the radar, but he's done nothing at this point to warrant a suspension. There are red flags, but no stop sign.

Oct. 31, 2004

Brandon Marshall faced misdemeanor charges of trespass, resisting arrest without violence, disorderly conduct, refusal to obey and assault on an officer in a Halloween arrest his junior year at Central Florida. Charges were dismissed.

The officer described Marshall as being cooperative and Watley as argumentative, though Watley told the officer she felt threatened by Marshall and his relatives who were also there.

I wonder if Watley has been arrested/had charges filed on her 5 times where Marshall wasn't involved. As you see here, Marshall has been in trouble 5 times in 4 years with the police where Watley isn't a part of it at all. I think you're giving Marshall a pass, I have no idea why. If this guy didn't have athletic talent and behaved like this he would be in jail right now. It's also possible that given Marshalls bad judgement/criminal activity that's it's not such a stretch to believe that he has beat on her on many occasions. Why does he keep going back with her? I know if I had the police knock on my door ONE time where my girlfriend falsely accused me of beating on her that would be the END of that relationship. He's been accused MANY times of beating on her and worse, yet he kept going back, I think it's because he is an abusive person, he's not a person I would ever think of defending or being friends with, he's a bad seed.

Obviously, Marshall is on the radar, but he's done nothing at this point to warrant a suspension.
So you think Goodell doesn't believe Marshall is reflecting poorly on the NFLs image? Maybe we need to get a pinned note since people forget, Goodell will suspend people who have a negative effect on the NFL image.

Somewhere between 1 and 16.

Very interesting line here!!!!! Marshall was finally smart enough to keep witnesses around!!!

I wonder if Watley has been arrested/had charges filed on her 5 times where Marshall wasn't involved. Accused of beating on her? Yet never a mention of even a single bruise?Dude...get off your high horse.

First of all, I never even came close to calling him an altar boy. I'm simply pointing out that although this list is long, there is almost nothing of substance on it. It isn't even remotely in the Pacman area. Basicly, you have two college pranks gone bad, neither appearing serious, a fight with his dad, again not serious, and a DUI.

There are definately red flags, and he may well be a doushe-bag, but this evidance is not exactly compelling. In fact, I find it amazing that with all of these problems with the GF, never once is there a mention of any injuries, and never any charges.

Your final lines are the most disturbing to me:

He's been accused MANY times of beating on her and worse, yet he kept going back, I think it's because he is an abusive person,
I find this very disturbing because the basis for it is false, and the evidance supports no conclusion at all. What's the worse when nobody could prove the beatings? He went back to her???????? And back to my original post....be very very careful of judging a man completely based on his interactions with a single woman. I know of a woman who's claimed physical violance (abuse) from 5 different men in her life. Four of those five men have never been accused of it from any other woman. The laws today promote and allow for these claims on often extraordinarily weak grounds.

Triangular Table - Brandon Marshall’s Future?

Garret here. I hope you liked our last triangular table. The stats showed you did. It was the most popular post in Bronco Madness history since our 2008 Mock Draft. But the group is back to give you our opinion on a topic that is haunting us all. What is the future of Brandon Marshall? I am sure you all know what is going on around here with Brandon Marshall and his domestic violence charges. But now we have the team back to discuss it.

Jeff Winters:

I believe Brandon Marshall to be the most talented wide receiver to come into the league since TO. He has size, speed, hands and elusiveness. He is the most exciting player on our offense. All of that being said, also like TO, he has some deep personal issues to work on. Unlike TO, these issues could cause him to be benched by the league instead of his team.

Brandon Marshall should be suspended. It pains me to say that because I believe he is an integral part of our season. Marshall should be suspended for the first 2-4 games of the season. He has twice been arrested in a domestic dispute with reports that he hit his girlfriend. He also has a DUI. These are errors that cannot be condoned. He’s not Pac-Man Jones or Chris Henry, but who’s to say that he doesn’t become that much of a black eye on our team. The Broncos don’t need that. The Broncos need good press on and off the field. After two Broncos dying, The Travis Henry paternity and marijuana issues and now this, the Broncos need the focus back on all the good they do in the community.

There are several silver linings to a possible Marshall suspension. Better to miss a few games now than screw up again and miss a season. Maybe he can actually learn from his mistakes. Javon Walker going down last year is what enabled Marshall to show what he was made of on the field. Would any of the receivers step up if need be? Good to know that at the beginning of the season. The Broncos could probably win at least 2, maybe 3, of the first four games without Marshall. If they play well at the other positions.

Maybe most importantly is what the suspension could possibly do for Marshall. This is a young man who, if able to keep his head on his shoulders and out of his ###, could be a special talent in this league for the next 10-12 years. He needs a wake up call and if it takes being told that he can’t do the thing that he loves most then so be it.

Garret Barnes:

This is always the tough part because I have to choose between what is right and how much I want the Broncos to win but here is the thing. I think what he has allegedly done justifies being suspended. I think he deserves this and usually I would be all for him being suspended but I do not want to see him in trouble for something he did not do.

Let’s face it, this woman has some problems and is being represented by attorneys renowned for squeezing money out of sports players or just plain people who did not do anything wrong. Mainly those sports players are being sued by women who are utterly crazy. Randy Moss would be the golden example.

On the other hand he has had past incidents and it is a miracle he has not been suspended already. This woman has accused him multiple times. He has been caught drinking and driving. He has fired guns in parking lots. Brandon Marshall by no means is an angel and presonally I think that this would be good for him to learn his lesson.

But again not if it is something he didn’t do. He needs to make better decisions. Period. The Broncos need to get rid of all the off the field issues in their locker room. I’m not saying we should release this young man but we still need to have him make a change. We do not want him becoming Adam Pac-Man (whatever his name is) Jones or Chris Henry. I think he is somewhere inside a good person. He goes and helps children play football and works in the community.

I think the best thing to do would be the American way of making this decision and suspend him only if he is proven guilty. It might happen. If we have to take football away from this kid I am sorry but that is just a fact of life. What goes around comes around.

Sonny Anderson:

I am going to be honest with what I say about my opinion. Brandon Marshall had hit his girlfriend and was charged for battery charges. Everyone reading this should remember the Kobe Bryant case. He was put through many trials and was put away from the NBA for a short time. I think Brandon Marshall will be suspended for the 2008-2009 season. I think it will take him a lot of begging to get him suspended for even half the season.

It is a sad story because Brandon had just recovered from a hand injury and now he is in a ton of trouble. I always thought this guy has a lot of talent and could become something really big. Now he is in a big mess and has to cut away from training with the rest of the team. Sometimes team members don’t work well together after they have been away from each other for a while. Their chemistry crumbles when they haven’t worked together for a while.

Brandon Marshall has really ruined part of his career. I like this WR a lot but if he is going to get himself into trouble like this, the Broncos should let him go! So Brandon Marshall you better keep away from the slammer and stay on the Broncos!

This is what happens when you go stupid. I like you Brandon but this is what you get and what you deserve.

Consensus:

It’s sad but true Brandon Marshall needs to be suspended. He has been a problem long enough. No matter what talent he may bring to the team he deserves what he is going to get. It may depend on a court of law or it could just happen. Most likely it will not be long. We will miss him but we may have to go on without Marshall for a little while.

Should be interesting how this plays out. It is starting to seem obvious a suspension is going to come down. The big question is how long?

Marshall needs some time away to get his head on strait (If that is even possible). Personally I think a year away might be a bit much. My guess at this point with the current info available. He gets no less than 4, probably between 6-8 games.

Brandon Marshall was ticketed by Denver police for more traffic violations in June.

Marshall was pulled over for an illegal lane change, then found to be without his license or proof of insurance. These sound like minor and routine traffic violations, but they can't help if Marshall plans to plead not guilty to DUI on September 16. He'll be in court July 24th for these new infractions.

This helps his DUI case, in my opinion. It proves he's just a bad driver.

I hope he uses the "cops are out to get me" defense

Intersting development. On the one hand, these seem undenaibly like ticky tack offenses. On the other hand, his crime count goes up even if he has a parking ticket at this point. Right or wrong, the league is probably more worried about quantity of misconduct than degree of misconduct [i.e. compare Pacman/C.Henry to L.Little].

So now we are down on players that get traffic citations?? Pretty soon we'll be downgrading players that chew gum and walk at the same time. Or step on a crack in the sidewalk. So a couple of arrests and dropped charges by an estranged ex-lover. How soon we forget a fellow named Moss had the same issues, and now all you hear is man love for him. I'd be surprised if he sees any suspension if he is not convicted of any wrong doing. Although a plea deal on the DUI could lead to something like a 1 gamer. To compare him to Pacman or Henry at this point is premature.Disclaimer: I am in no way, in any form, condoning any of his alleged previous infractions.

An illegal lane change, WTF? Colorodo must be a fun place to drive. I would love to see a cop ticket someone with this in LA. It would get challenged and then laughed out of court. And don't you have 24 hrs to produce your license and insurance? I'm sure he has a license and is insured.Brandon Marshall is a grade-A moron but those are some dumb citations.

Ridiculous I agree and it does seem like the police are piling on now that they know his record. How often does the star player for the city's NFL team get cited for petty things like this? I do think it's disappointing though that he still hasn't figured out that he needs to get 100% in line with the law by having his license on him and his proof of insurance in the car. He has the money to hire a personal assistant to make sure all these details are taken care of.
