buyingHis situation reminds me a lot of when Moss went from the Raiders (where he sucked terribly) to the Pats where he re-emerged to Fantasy stud-dom. Getting out of Cleveland and going to New York is going to wake Edwards up big time. He didn't want to be in Cleveland hence all his off the field problems. He seems to be more focused You saw it already tonight with just 21/2 days of practice. He will be huge in the Red zone like he was a couple years ago.5 catches, 64 yards and 1 TD (should have been 2) in his first game after joining the Jets mid-week. Sanchez looked his way a LOT. Was this a fluke game with Cotchery limited by the hamstring injury or will Edwards be a top-10 WR from here on out?
His attitude looked good tonight and he sure looked capable of doing a lot of things. Moss' attitude and stats were horrible his second year in Oakland. I think the comparison is a good one. This is a guy who put up almost 1,300 yards and 16 TDs with Derrick Anderson as his quarterback. Think about that for a minute.I would sell. It's easy to get caught up in a big night but this is no young player--we know what he can and can't do and we know his attitude.
Moss is a superstar HOF player. Braylon Edwards is a guy who had one good year and now one good game this year. The bottom line is he still can't catch and there was never any question of Moss having good hands. The comparison fails on that point alone. Beyond that, Moss never had a bad attitude when it came to his team. He has always been about winning. It's always easy to have a good attitude when you are getting the ball. It will be interesting to see how that attitude is tested in the wake of the loss. In my experience, a person's character rarely changes. His attitude looked good tonight and he sure looked capable of doing a lot of things. Sounds like you have in in the top-10, top-12 WR range for the rest of the year.Dynasty - definite hold. Redraft - possible sell high. Sanchez is still a rookie, and the team will still try to lean on the run game when it can. Miami is a much better run defense than pass defense. He was still 12/24 on the night. If you can get Jennings or Moss for him, no doubt you have to sell. And maybe even for a guy like Ocho I would still sell.
He was comparing situations, not players. Moss is clearly better than Edwards and always will be, no matter what teams they play for. But in terms of situations, the comparison is spot on. You couldn't possibly be more wrong about Moss. Moss had a TERRIBLE attitude towards his team in his final year in Oakland and his performance reflected it. Moss' attitude with the Raiders was actually FAR WORSE than Edwards' with the Browns. He was regarded to be one of the worst cancers in the league at the time and no one wanted to take a chance on him. Why do you think he was traded for a 4th round pick? I don't think Edwards was dogging it as much as the Browns just wouldn't and/or couldn't get him the ball. Moss on the other hand...The point is that Edwards is no in a good offense with a good young QB on a winning team and he's happy. This is a guy who went for 1,300 and 16 with Derrick Anderson at QB. He was the #3 overall pick in the draft. That doesn't sound like a fluke to me. That sounds like a talented player who languished on a terrible team for several years. The one year the Browns weren't terrible, he was a top-5 WR in the league. Look for more of the same in New York, maybe not top-5, but probably top-15.Moss is a superstar HOF player. No offense, but after one game you know "he is happy"? He could turn out to play every game like this one but I really doubt a guy with his attitude will change. I don't want to get into the Moss thing but he is a totally different kind of player and the media has smeared him in the past.He was comparing situations, not players. This is nothing but BS...Not to get off topic here, but I see Edwards helping Cotchery's numbers.
He's not a close friend of mine and I admit I'm speculating, but yes, I think he's happy to be out of Cleveland and playing on a good team with a real NFL QB. He has to be happy catching passes again. He sure looked like he was having a good time tonight. As to Moss, I agree that the media unfairly smeared him while in Minnesota, but not while in Oakland. He brought that on himself when he quit on his team. So, yeah, two different players, but very close similarities in their situations. Most people didn't think Moss would change either. No offense, but after one game you know "he is happy"? He could turn out to play every game like this one but I really doubt a guy with his attitude will change. Braylon's played 4 years, has 2 800 yard seasons and a 1200/16 season. Not to make a big point here, but Braylon's first 4 years are better than most WRs including Reggie Wayne. Sure he isn't Moss, nobody should say he is. But I am looking forward to seeing how he plays with what appears to be a competent QB.Moss is a superstar HOF player. Wow, I'm in the same boat! Edwards WR4 (behind Wayne / R White / Marshall) and was going to see if the DWill owner is ready to part ... or maybe package him to get MDJ.So, if you can afford it, sell ... if you need WR help, hold on as he will probably produce good WR2 numbers.Have him, R. Moss, S. Smith (NYG), and B. Marshall on one team . Looking to sell high to an owner looking to shop an under performing D. Williams and is desperate for receivers. Pretty weak at RB with Slaton, LT, and Coffee. 2 RB, 3WR non PPR league.
FF is about what has a player done lately. I could not give away Mendenhall and Edwards 2/3 weeks ago. now I get 3/4 offers a week for mendenhall and got one this morning for EdwardsI'd buy but, I'm sure it's too late.
I'd agree with this. Too expensive to buy now, and won't get enough value back in trade if you're selling. He's going to be a totally different guy with this change of scenery. Like him or dislike him for how he does his business, he's supremely motivated right now.I believe everyone in here saying sell because he "is what he is", is missing the boat.I'd buy but, I'm sure it's too late.I'm holding where I have him unless I can haul in a load.
Edwards is 26 years old. To me that is young for a WR. In 2007 he had 16 TD's. That is all I need to know. He has the ability and is now in the place to return to his 2007 form. The guy I saw on the Jets sideline was not the same guy I saw on the Browns sideline the first 4 games this year. I own him and am NOT SELLING.I would sell. It's easy to get caught up in a big night but this is no young player--we know what he can and can't do and we know his attitude.
I think he is a #2 for the rest of the year. So top 24. But not top 12. I think people will overreact to one game and be willing to trade an underperforming stud like Moss or Jennings for him. If you can find someone who does that, sell. Someone will be worried about Moss' last game. Ocho I think is overperforming. He has been very consistent this year (all teens all year in PPR), and given his history, he will not be this consistent. But I still think he has more value than Edwards, so I would possibly buy high/sell high if I could given I trust Palmer more than Sanchez.Sounds like you have in in the top-10, top-12 WR range for the rest of the year.Dynasty - definite hold. Last week was week 1 and he ended up with 11 targets and 5-65-1. I'd certainly trot him out if he can consistently put up numbers like that. I think he can easily be a top 20 wr from here on out.I worry that going to NY gives him just enough value that owners can never bring themselves to drop him outright, yet not enough consistent production that his owners feel good about using him every week.
guy has always had talent, the browns killed him. when he had someone that put it on the money, and he had motivation he exploded... if you can get him, buy.Sanchez did look for him an awful lot last week. I'd wait another week to see if it was a trend or mirage but I'd personally lean more towards buyer than seller right now. That catch he made at the one yard line which should have been a TD was ridiculous.
The problem is if you wait you might not be able to get him or the price will be a lot more after the Buff game this weekend with Cotchery out.If you haven't seen it check out some of these catches he made on Monday night. I know he gets criticized for his hands but he was terrific and he came an eyelash from scoring two tds in his 1st game. BE catch clipsSanchez did look for him an awful lot last week. I'd say he was an eyelash from 3 TD's... That 2nd one should have counted. But, I had TJ starting so, It worked out....Banger said:The problem is if you wait you might not be able to get him or the price will be a lot more after the Buff game this weekend with Cotchery out.If you haven't seen it check out some of these catches he made on Monday night. I completely understand the rolleyes on that offer, but when all's said and done this year, that may have ended up lopsided.......in your favor! Then again, I was just offered BE for Randy Moss![]()
