WR Edwards May Not Play In PreseasonTony Grossi, Cleveland Plain Dealer - [Full Article]Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards' recovery from January knee surgery is proceeding on schedule, he said, but it's unclear whether he will appear in a preseason game. "That's something that's been tossed back and forth," he said Tuesday. "We don't know if it's worth it or it's not worth it. I'm feeling a lot better now. We're still being cautious with it. We still haven't pushed it too far. We're on target where we want to be." On Sunday, Edwards participated in two practices on the same day for the first time. He said his repetitions are up to three to five plays in a row.His next milestone may be removing the brace he wears on his repaired right knee. And then playing in a game, "whether it's preseason or regular season," he said. Coach Romeo Crennel said the team is pleased with Edwards' progress. "Once he gets enough reps with the team and we feel he's made good, solid progress, then we may put him in a situation where he has to take a hit," Crennel said. "That will be one of the big issues, taking a hit and getting up." The always-upbeat Edwards insists the Browns' offense will come around once all the pieces are in place. "I definitely feel confident with the things we're doing in practice and with our attitude. I'm not worried," he said.
I do like the fact that he participating in 2 practices and multiple plays in a row..although it's not clear whether he is in full pads yet.

i honestly think they just don't know when he's coming back.

they didn't expect him to be this far already, so i think they don't want to push their luck.

He has been practicing some and was rumored to maybe be ready for season start. Here are some news blurbs showing this:

The AP reports Braylon Edwards

Published Sun Aug 6 7:23:00 p.m. ET 2006

(Rotoworld) The AP reports Braylon Edwards was making leaping catches and sharp cuts on his surgically repaired knee in team drills Sunday.

Impact: It's been almost exactly eight months since Edwards tore his ACL. While he likely won't face any contact in training camp, it's beginning to look possible Edwards could be ready for Week 1.

Edwards does 11-on-11s in practice

Published Mon Aug 14 9:15:00 a.m. ET 2006

(Rotoworld) Braylon Edwards participated in 11-on-11 drills at practice Sunday.

Impact: Edwards still hasn't faced contact but this was his first participation in full-team activities while wearing shoulder pads. His value, like that of all Browns skill positions, took a hit after the offensive line injuries.

:goodposting: I just checked on Edwards this morning for injury status. He's playing in pads, but no contact yet. Considering the injury he suffered, he's come a long ways. Personally, I still think the October timeframe is most likely, but the team's coaching staff doesn't want to dampen his obviously upbeat attitude/effort in rehab by saying so. I expect to hear a lot of variations on "Braylon Edwards has made remarkable progress, and he'll start when the medical staff gives him full clearance" type quotations out of the coaches/front office.

i think you could be correct.Braylon seems like the type of guy who gets really antsy when they don't let him play, so maybe they don't want to be the "bad guys" and just keep laying it off on the medical staff.

You have a guy like Edwards trying to come back from an injury, just workin his tale off to play. THen you have TO... the biggest b|tch in the game. I know he's great and all, but the dude needs to pull his head outta his ###.

Fo real

Seems like TO may have "worked his tale off" to play in the Eagles Superbowl game, no?

i have edwards ranked as the 106th WR on my board.

but the difference between that and #75 is only about 2 PPG so i guess it could happen.

Go get this kid in Dynasty Leagues if you haven't already. He will be force for years to come. I have been sayng the same thing about Alex Smith (buy low), but nobody listens to me because I am a Lion's fan.

General Public Sentiment: Lion's Fan = Dumb

(By the way, I can tell the future)
