Ex-TopCat sentenced in Fla. bar caseMELISSA MANWAREmmanware@charlotteobserver.comA former Carolina Panthers cheerleader accused of punching another woman in a Tampa, Fla., nightclub was sentenced Monday to probation, community service and anger-management classes, according to a Florida prosecutor.

Renee Thomas pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors -- battery and presenting a false driver's license. On the one felony charge -- giving a false name, causing harm to another -- she entered a pre-trial diversion program.

The charges stem from a Nov. 6 fight that police say began after Thomas and Angela Keathley, both TopCats at the time, left the same bathroom stall at Banana Joe's nightclub.

Witnesses told police the women were having sex in the stall, making others angry because they were taking too long.

Attorneys for both women have insisted their clients were not having sex.

In the misdemeanor cases, Thomas was sentenced to anger management classes and 12 months of probation, and ordered to pay $400 to the woman she allegedly punched in the face, prosecutor Allison Skorewicz said. Thomas will have to complete 18 months' probation and 50 hours of community service to complete the diversion program.

Keathley also entered a misdemeanor pre-trial diversion program, which requires probation and community service to complete.

The Panthers fired both women after their arrests.

The story about the bathroom ruckus made national news, including a mention on "The Tonight Show."
