Probably all based on that profootballtalk article. Of course, if Leinart stinks it up as starter, this will get legs and Favre will milk it just for fun at a minimum. Before this thread spirals out of control with anti-Favre vitriol, I'm curious if there are any teeth to this story.I'm sure Foster and Andre Johnson owners are interested.

Did you watch him last year?why shouldnt they kick the tires on this?
have you watched Leinart his whole career?Did you watch him last year?why shouldnt they kick the tires on this?
Leinart at least knows the playbook and will minimize his interceptions. This is a running team - Matt can hand the ball off just fine. There were reports Favre would often audible out of running plays to passing plays while in Minnesota. That's not what Houston needs. The Texans will run, run, run, run, and run. Every once in a great while they'll toss a dumpoff to Daniels or Dreesen. Both are good tight ends that will help extend drives.Favre would be a terrible fit for Houston - and that's assuming Favre is able to play as well as he did last year.have you watched Leinart his whole career?Did you watch him last year?why shouldnt they kick the tires on this?
Pretty sure he has already phoned the Texans front office to let them know that he is available and ready to perform. He has said that he would still collect his social security check every month too.Two words.Jeff George.
You realize you are talking about Brett Favre right? If you think about it, its a perfect situation for him. Just has to manage the game. Rely on Foster/Tate. PA to Andre, Bootlegs to Daniels, some simple screens to Jacoby. They are in 1st place, only a few more games to go. Doesn't have to be the savior or hero. Just dont suck. Great O-line too.
Not true, reports were that he was about to sign with Seattle, but opted to stay with the Texans because he thought it was a better opporunity (which appears to be the case). And Leinhart is not the answer. The Texans were the only team in the league who wanted him and I have no idea why. You want your QB to be a leader and Leinhart is some things, but not that.
Correct, Brett Favre cannot play the "Manage the Game" role. He needs to be the hero. If he can't be the hero there is no reason to come back.'sho nuff said:You realize you are talking about Brett Favre right?'wkuredbengal34 said:If you think about it, its a perfect situation for him. Garrard would be perfect for that team. He can scramble and is accurate. He's got a lot of traits that would meld extremely well with that team.Kind of surprised Garrard isn't being mentioned...

Off topic but how is being firmly planted as a backup on a better team, a better opportunity than being on equal footing to complete for a starting job in Seattle?'squistion said:Not true, reports were that he was about to sign with Seattle, but opted to stay with the Texans because he thought it was a better opporunity (which appears to be the case).'wkuredbengal34 said:And Leinhart is not the answer. Less chance to be exposed as a non-NFL caliber QB?Better opportunity to collect a playoff check while holding a clipboard?Off topic but how is being firmly planted as a backup on a better team, a better opportunity than being on equal footing to complete for a starting job in Seattle?'squistion said:Not true, reports were that he was about to sign with Seattle, but opted to stay with the Texans because he thought it was a better opporunity (which appears to be the case).'wkuredbengal34 said:And Leinhart is not the answer. I'm not. Changing out Leinart for Garrabage is doing nothing and then paying a guy for it.Kind of surprised Garrard isn't being mentioned...

I think Seattle's move to go get Tavaris Jackson, the QB who their offensive coordinator previously had, was interpreted as a signal that Tavaris would be the incumbent in Seattle and Leinart and Whitehurst would be fighting for the back up role. Also likely a part of his decision is that Leinart has said he thinks Kubiak, Dennison and Knapp are one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL for a QB to learn from. So if he's going to be in a back up role anyway, might as well do it on a team he thinks will better prepare him to be a starter when he next gets a shot.Off topic but how is being firmly planted as a backup on a better team, a better opportunity than being on equal footing to complete for a starting job in Seattle?'squistion said:Not true, reports were that he was about to sign with Seattle, but opted to stay with the Texans because he thought it was a better opporunity (which appears to be the case).'wkuredbengal34 said:And Leinhart is not the answer. Purple Drank. What is JeMarcus Russell doing these days?

He has shown no interest in playing from what I've seen. He knows his time has passed but reporters trying to scoop other reporters keep bringing up his name.Jake Plummer anyone? Danny White?Oh God please not this clown again.
I doubt that Leinart would have "opted" to stay with the Texans if Tarvaris Jackson hadn't already signed with Seattle.'squistion said:Not true, reports were that he was about to sign with Seattle, but opted to stay with the Texans because he thought it was a better opporunity (which appears to be the case).%26%2339%3Bwkuredbengal34%26%2339%3B said:And Leinhart is not the answer. Brett Favre's agent believes he could "play today," and that he's "in the best shape I've ever seen him in, physically."
"His arms look like a blacksmith's arms," Bus Cook said Monday. "He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He's coaching at the high school and they're undefeated. He loves it. His body fat is 7.5 percent and he weighs 225 pounds. He could play today, better than a lot of them out there today." It's unclear if Cook is describing Favre or The Most Interesting Man In The World. Either way, Favre's playing days are through, though he could probably give Blaine Gabbert a run for his money in Jacksonville. Favre turns 44 in October.

Hey, Vinny T. played while he was 44 and Flutie retired at 43. Can't be worse than Gabbert.I would love to see Favre play for one of these teams with a heinous QB situation. I don't care how much of an attention whore he is, I miss watching him play.
