that's not how oddsmakers set the lineWhat do the oddsmakers have this at? The lack of "respect" that ESPN has given Milwaukee for the past month and especially in this past series, I wouldn't be surprised to see St. Louis favored by a big margin.

An old A.L. East matchup would be great.I remember really rooting for Yount, Cooper, Gantner, Gorman and pete "ball itchl Vukovich in the 82 World Series. I don't like the Cards, have a Brewers WS future and would love a Milwaukee/Detroit World Series.Brewers in six
Yeah not sure what Mario Kart is getting at here. Everyone knows that ESPN pretty much ignores every major league team that isn't NY, Boston or Philly. All other teams coverage is secondary to that of the major east coast markets. Always has always will be. Brewers in 7. Should be a great series with two teams who hate each other. I'm sure Larussa will be complaining about the shadows on Sunday.lol at lack of respect for Brewers in the last series.
This is a greta point - the remaining teams are mid-level markets...how much push will the playoffs and world series get? Obviously some - but not to the incessant coverage you'd see for NY, Boston, Philly, etc. Kind of nice really. Tough call on who to pull for in the AL...Kinsler and Scherzer both Mizzou grads so I would be happy if either team won. I'm not sure that's the case. I'd dislike him just the same the minute he put a Cardinals uniform on. Some guys just aren't worth the baggage. He's the toast of the town right now. Morgan will eventually do something stupid again and be off to another city; hopefully it won't happen in the next three weeks.I'm not sure that's the case. Yeah, funny how a game-winning hit can work wonders for the perception of a guy. Honestly, I think the people that enjoy his antics in Milwaukee are people that are unfamiliar with his antics in Pittsburgh and Washington. I am not an apologist for the "treatment" some give to Milwaukee but the coverage on ESPN of both the Brewers and the Rays for the last month has been horrendous. Just last night alone, it was like listening to a funeral when the Phillies lost. ESPN went over every signing and every move the Phillies made and casting a dark shadow over the team. Similar to how they covered the Red Sox and Yankees "demise". The marketing team at ESPN is run by a bunch of amateurs since 27 other teams probably outweigh those 3. Then again, who knows. Either way, it is nice to see a post season with "smaller" markets left. Right now, over/under is 7.5 with -142/+132 money line. The game-winning hit did nothing to change the perception of Nyjer in Milwaukee. He's been a positive force for the team all year. Being on a winning team has curtailed those antics you mentioned. I hate John StuperLast time the Brewers and Cardinals met in any playoffs was.............1982 World Series when Milwaukee Brewers were still in the AL.This should be a really good battle
La Russa responds strongly to Greinke's comments
Let the fireworks begin.
Oh, excuse me. They already have started.
Brewers' Game 1 starter Zack Greinke made a few critical comments about St. Louis ace Chris Carpenter in an interview session at Miller Park, and Cardinals manager Tony La Russa responded to Greinke's comments.
Greinke was asked what the Brewers have against Carpenter, who got into it with Nyjer Morgan during the teams' last regular-season series in St. Louis.
"I don't know," Greinke said. "They think his presence, his attitude out there sometimes is like a phony attitude. But ... and then he yells at people. He just stares people down and stuff. And most pitchers just don't do that.
"And when guys do, I guess some hitters get mad. Some hitters do it to pitchers. But when you do that some people will get made. There's other pitchers in the league that do it, but I don't know, a lot of guys on our team don't like Carpenter."
When Greinke's comments were relayed to La Russa, the Cardinals manager said: "It's very disappointing that Greinke would say that. I've always thought he was high-character type, a classy guy.
"That's a bad comment to make unless you know Chris Carpenter. Our attitude is we look at ourselves and we grade ourselves. Even if we don't like what's happening on the other side, it's not our business unless somebody crosses the line.
"So I think the Brewers should take care of their players and their comments and not be concerned about other players' comments. If they had Chris Carpenter, they would be cheering for him and believing in him and they would not be allowing somebody who was a teammate to make a crack like that.
"But Greinke's not his teammate, so I'm disappointed. If you knew him, none of that stuff is true. He doesn't give (expletive) .... and he doesn't take it. That's the way it's supposed to be."
Apparently he was upset that Carp had the audacity to strike him out. Priceless though was his getting all bowed up as Pujols ran in to intervene. Pujols is the nicest guy in the world, but have to imagine he'd destroy Nyjer in a fight (not involving a pitcher spiking people in the head). God, Morgan would be such a pefect fit for Cincinatti.Yeah, its only been 30 days since THIS. Guess you missed that one. He's been a positive force for the team all year. There is a lot of truth to this. I love Carp, but it wasn't coincidence that he was one who precipitated the brawl last year.So it begins

Exactly. All the blame is put on Morgan. Yes, they still do the sausage races. I was there for Game 1 of the last series, and Chorizo just dominated. Bernie Brewer still goes down the slide for home runs, but I don't think they've had the beer mug since they moved into Miller Park. He now slides into the "Kalahari Splash Zone" with water spraying on him and the surrounding crowd, a marketing plug for Kalahari Resorts water park in Wisconsin Dells.'DCThunder said:I'm rooting for the Brew Crew for two reasons:
[*]Fond memories of Harvey's Wallbangers and how I'd already grown to hate the Cardinals even before they won the '82 WS.

Do they still do the Sausage Races duing playoff games and do they have the guy who slides into the giant beer stein for Brewer home runs?

Nobody respects youOn tomorrow night's ESPN sportscenter, how long do you guys think it will take them to cover the NLCS or ALCS? I think at least 20 minutes into it. No westcoast or eastcoast teams left and its week 5 of the NFL. It will take them forever to show highlights, and it will only be about 5 minutes of coverage is my guess.

On Friday, Carpenter pulled a reporter from The Post-Dispatch and a reporter from MLB.com aside to clarify his explanation.
Preferring not to talk about it again or put the incident back in the headlines, Carpenter said he didn't want to "come across as a liar" because of the confusion. Carpenter acknowledged that he did yell at Morgan, telling him to "(verb) off."
The curse words came at the end of what's been a long run of irritation from the Cardinals' point of view. Morgan, according to Carpenter's teammates, taunted and cursed the pitcher earlier in the game when he hit a double. During the Brewers' visit to Busch Stadium in August, the game had to be stopped and the umpires addressed the Milwaukee dugout, where, it was revealed by The Post-Dispatch and other outlets later, Morgan was yelling obscenities at Carpenter and calling the pitcher vulgar names. Teammates had to restrain Morgan during that game, and eventually had to remove him from the dugout before he caused a problem with the umpires.

You can believe your boy Carpenter is an angel, whatever helps you sleep at night.
I know Morgan has a mouth just as much as Carpenter. It's never just one guy.
But hey, keep believing in seashells and balloons.
