Brian Griese starts next week . . . (1 Viewer)

The Bears scored a lot of points last year on Hester's returns and on Defensive Scores. You can't count on that every year.

The Packers and Lions look revitalized, and the Vikes D is on par with the Bears. There are no cake walks in that division anymore.

The Bears played the "we'll bring everyone back and hope for the same results" card, and it got trumped. Weaknesses were not addressed. Drafting a midget in the third round isn't considered an improvement.

With all that in the back of the pickup, if this Bears OL can't open holes for Benson the Bears are done. This team is built so that the quarterback doesn't have to win games for them.

Rex is their best option right now for success at the position, but he'd better not be by the start of next season.

I don't feel sorry for San Diego and their fans for their treatment of Schotty.

And I don't feel sorry for the Bears and their fans who have destroyed this kids psyche.

He played well last year and at the first sign of growing pains, they wanted to run the kid out of town on a rail.

The Bears fans and media don't live in a vacuum, they are actually contributing to the downfall of their team and their young QB.

Grossman has the Lions Def next week and if they don't get it together he might have 5 td's against them. They looked like they had 8 guys on the field against Philly. Philly's Oline dominated Detroits DLine and that was the end of the story. I don't know if Chicago can do the same but even Grossman could hit receivers that wide open.

Philly's OL is better than Chicago's.

that is all . . .
I say they go straight to Orton. Orton is young. See what he offers. The season is over with at this point. The Bears have no chance of doing anything this season. You have to find someone who can carry the ball. Benson should be a back up at best. Adrian Peterson is a back up. He's an adequate fill in for a couple of games, but nothing more. Your receivers leave a lot to be desired. Berrian has promise. Muhammed is too old. No one else has consistently shown anything. The defense is hugely over-rated. They showed, both here and in San Diego, that they don't match up with the elite teams. The one change is the coordinator. So maybe Babich is the wrong guy for the job. They play well for a quarter. Teams adjust to what they are doing. The Bears keep doing the same thing that isn't working. They are going to need a new offensive and defensive coordinator next year. You really go back to square one and try to reconstruct things. You have t ofigure out what pieces you keep and what you get rid of. Bye bye Grossman, bye bye Benson.
Maybe there's just something to this Superbowl hangover thing.
I think it is more that to get to the Super Bowl teams need luck. You need to avoid injuries. You need some of your players to have career years, or to play over their heads. A weak schedule helps. A weak division helps. A weak conference helps. A lot has to come together. The Bears had a lot of things come together for them. Now the injuries are piling up. The division is much better. The schedule is much tougher. Grossman is reverting to form. The offensive line is getting old. A lot has changed.

Grossman has a good arm. That is the only asset he has. He has no mobility. He doesn't read defenses well. He isn't very accurate. There was an interesting comment I heard about Schaub. The commentator said that he is very decisive. He makes quick decisions, and then gets the ball out quickly. And he throws the ball very accurately. Grossman does none of that. He is tentative. He can't get much beyond his first read. He throws into coverage regularly because he doesn't see the field well. His mechanics are bad. He throws off his back foot regularly. The mechanics might be able to be corrected, but the coaches have been working on this for two years and he still makes the same mistakes. I believe he isn't very bright. That can't be changed. Grossman hasn't improved as a QB. He has actually regressed. He actually looks worse now than he did early last year. The Bears can keep pretending that suddenly the light will go on for Grossman. I don't think it ever will.

awww cmon thats a little unfair ... i live in chicago and have heard a lot of grossman support over the last couple years until just this last couple weeks. even i supported him way too long. i agree that booing and chanting griese in the previous game is pretty sad and its going to be rough for a young QB (i would never do it, even though i think he should be replaced now), but thats just how it goes in the world of pro sports. its not like only bears fans would do such a thing! besides, all ive been hearing on this board from non-bear fans for the past 3 seasons is anti-rex sentiment !
