Brian Westbrook Respect Thread (1 Viewer)

:lmao:Just traded Boldin+Turner for BW and a late 2nd in my dynasty league. I probably overpaid, but now I get to pair him with LT as he sends Portis to the bench. I don't see too many Eagles games, but when I have, he's impressed me as few other RBs do, LT, AD, MFaulk, Tiki, and Barry. Some others may come close, but that's the top of the list. :coffee:
we were the flip side of this trade...in a WR-friendly league in which we coveted young WR talent & already had LT, too (league with two versions of players)...after checking back from '03 to present, he appears to be #2 RB in our PPR scoring system during that span (seemingly corroborating that the injury prone label is a bad rap & baseless)... LT was 23 PPG & westbrook was about 18... but westbrook is increasingly getting more touches, & his scoring trending up... nearly 26 PPG in '07 (our scoring system)...projecting to 16 games, 2,400 combo yards & 108 receptions would i think (off top of my head) be near league records... overall in combined yards, & among RBs for receptions...
It always makes a person slightly more hesitant to trade when the other team is owned by 2 staffers, or just by people with the knowledge / experience / insight that you 2 have. I kept asking "what do they know that I don't?" But in the end, you've always been among "the fairest of them all".

Brian Westbrook, RB PHI

News: Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is on pace for the best season of his six-year career. Despite missing one game with an abdominal injury, Westbrook is eighth in the NFL with 701 yards rushing. He's second among running backs and ninth overall with 54 catches for 518 yards, and he has nine TDs combined. At this rate, Westbrook would finish with 1,314 yards rushing, 101 receptions for 971 yards and 17 total TDs; each would be career highs. He has a chance to become the third halfback in NFL history to have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season, joining Roger Craig (1985) and Marshall Faulk (1999).

Analysis: Westbrook will be in line for another big game in Week 11 against Miami, which is No. 30 in run defense with 12 touchdowns allowed. The Dolphins also could be without LB Zach Thomas, which will help Westbrook's cause. Start him in all leagues this week.

I draft a lot of players based one what I see. For years I have been saying that Westbrook is the best RB at making people miss in the league. In the open field he almost always makes the first guy miss and because of that he is dangerous. He doesn't have good power and is not a straight forward power guy, but he is a rich mans Reggie Bush (and I have Reggie Bush).

Couldnt disagree more. He has great power for someone his size. He can get very low behind the huge O line of Philadelphia and he rarely goes down on the first hit. As for Reggie Bush... he has a long way to go before you can even talk about him in the same breath as Westbrook. I get chills

You must not watch him play.... He lowers the shoulder and stiff arms as much as anyone.... He is a powerful runner..... This is the misconception about him... Watch him play sometime....

The run in this video at about 2:30 against the Dolphins is just RIDICULOUS.

This is true....pretty much ran through an attempted tackle by everybody on D.

Looks more like Jeremy Bloom on a slalom.

Fans of the Eagles have been acutely aware of how good he is. He is (and always has been) the best offensive player on the Eagles.
Assuming you are an Eagles fan, I'd like to know what you think of McNabb. How much of what's going on is his fault and how much of it is the whole team and how much is Reid's fault? Just curious. I don't get to see a lot of the eagles, this year at least. But I have seen McNabb do some great things. Not trying to take this thread away from Westbrook. Just wanted to get a Philly fans perspective.

People are split on him. I am one who believes if we had Favre we'd be undefeated right now (jk) In all reality, I think we would be better with someone like Garcia (or potentially Kolb). A lot better.
