Brohm, Woodson or Ryan? (1 Viewer)

It's early, but I think that Brohm will make the best NFL QB. I'm no expert by any means. I like watching him play. He seems to have a good blend of arm, toughness and leadership. He lacks mobility, but he makes good decisions and protects the ball. I've heard good things about Wooson and Ryan. I am hoping that this forum will give me better insight and opinions from real experts.  Oh, and I hope Brohm goes to the BEARS!!

I agree that Brohm will be the best of the 3...

We will breaking down these guys ad infinitum on draftguys in the offseason. Also hope to get at least one of them on the audible.

I think Woodson has best talent of the trio (Unreal accuracy, good armstrength, and some ability to ellude the rush), but probably needs a little bit of time holding a clipboard to learn how the NFL defenses work.

Ryan is the most NFL ready of the bunch. IMO these three are the best QBs to come out since Eli Manning.

Am I the only one that notices that Ryan seems to have "happy feet"?

I noticed that esp. in his final drive against Virginia Tech but also in some highlights against other opponents on Youtube. I also noticed he held the ball a long time in that drive. He won't be that lucky in the NFL.

Well, you are overlooking 1 very large fellow who is about to debut soon.........JaMarcus Russell of mi Oakland Raiders.......Eli Manning??......avg., at best. And these 3 guys are nowhere near the prospect of JaMarcus, as some of the more notable QB prospect evaluators (Mayock, Jaworski, Salisbury, etc.) will soon be telling you.......These 3 guys are considerably better than B.Quinn yet a notch below JaMarcus

Bloom, let me finish your sentence....but Colt Brennan is the best QB coming out of college, and is also the most ready to START in the NFL. Sure all QBs could start on the RIGHT team, but Colt would fit more teams because he is the most mobile, most accurate, and he the most likable. As we have seen with guys like Joey Harrington and Cerdic Benson, flakes are not readily welcomed on teams.I don't care who you all think is your favorite college QB is, I know Colt is better.

I would rank both Woodson and Ryan ahead of Brohm, but think in general all three of slightly overrated, especially if you someone attempting to sell me that either one is worthy of the number overall pick.

Brohm, I don't see anything mechanically to hate, but he never has jumped out as dynamic. Seems like a guy who needs more stuff around him than does Ryan or Woodson. Honestly, Eli Manning seems fair (and would not have drafted Manning 1st overall either).

Totally disagree! Brennan has a hell of an arm, but the system he plays in makes him look much better than he can really play. ....And I don't know many teams that play a run-and-shoot style offense that June Jones has in Hawaii.I think Brennan could be a good project QB, but I would not want my team going with him as the QB of the future.

I don't think Brennan is even a pro. He doesn't have the arm. Can't make the 20 yard out throw you need to make to be an NFL qb. Just doesn't have a hose, floats the ball. His already low stock will plummet even further at the combine.

I think Brennan would be deadly in a West Coast Offense (another Jeff Garcia) if the right team were to select him. Could be an interesting selection for a team like Tampa Bay where he can sit for a year.

He has that sidearm quick release that's accurate for those 5-15 yard routes where the WR can break it after the catch.

Um, Who has Ryan played to say that coment. IMO its Brohm and its not going to be close
Um, who did Jerry Rice play against in college? (that's just one example of how stupid that statement is)
lemme guess 49ers fan? How long till we hear about 5 rings?
you think Rice is the only NFL stud to come from a unheard of school? How about tony Romo and jon kitna just off of memory of starting QB's who went to no name schools.

In the recent past and present, we all have seen a system or two that demands good route running, multiple options flanked out wide and out of the back field. The offenses of the Rams, Patriots, Colts, Saints, Cardinals, and now the Lions and Browns to name a few. You can't run it with a QB that can't by you a little time, so you need to be mobile. You can't do it with a QB that can't hit a moving target with accuracy. You can't do it with guys who aren't smart either because you have to be able to adjust to defense that try to adjust and scheme against you. What you need is a mobile, accurate, smart QB. Which of those other QBs can come close to Colt Brennan in the categories that count. He can gun it out, run it around, and fun it up.Any team that gets him will get the best impact player in the draft if you ask me. He should be the Lion's 1st round draft pick, where he would replace Kitna 4 weeks into camp as the designated starter. He will bring consistent high octane offense to any team.I think he will be on ESPN for the next four weeks. Make your opinions known on a separate thread that I'll start right now.

Brennan is listed as 6'3 and 196. Does anyone think that's big enough to be an NFL QB? Not me. But my question with Brennan would be about the caliber of Ds he's faced. Utah State? New Mexico State? Idaho? Are you kidding me? And as far as the #s go, its easy for a guy to get into a rythym when he drops back and throws it 40 times a game. He might get drafted. It wont be early. jmho. Brohm should be the #1 QB coming out of this class.

Bulger is 6'3", 212 lbs.

Brees is 6'0", 209 lbs.

Delhomme is 6'2", 215 lbs.

Garcia is 6'1", 205 lbs.

I can definitely see Brennan bulking up to about 200-205 for the Combine and up to 210-215 in the NFL.

As far as competition, Colt's done pretty well against name teams too.

2005 USC: 21/32 for 250 yards. 1 TD vs. 1 INT.

2005 Michigan State: 23/31 for 219 yards. 2 TD vs. 0 INT.

2005 Wisconsin: 33/53 for 403 yards. 3 TD vs. 1 INT.

2006 Alabama: 30/44 for 350 yards. 2 TD vs. 1 INT.

2006 Purdue: 33/48 for 434 yards. 3 TD vs. 1 INT.

2006 Oregon State: 37/50 for 401 yards. 2 TD vs. 2 INT.

Really? Have you watched him? I'm not trying to use that in the insult manner, I'm genuinely asking if you've watched whole BC games or just highlights. He makes some nice highlight throws, but the whole package has been terrible lately. In 6th of the last 8 quarters he's looked like (I kid you not) the absolute worst quarterback in division 1 football. In the first 3 quarters of the VT game he literally could not get a 5 yard in within 3 yards of the WR.

:kicksrock: So wrong and it's not even close. Just pointing out the fallacy of your statement. How about Walter Payton? He wasn't exactly facing top 20 talent in college. How'd he turn out? Steve McNair. Where'd he go? Alcorn State or something like that. They're not playing your Florida's, LSU's and Ohio States.

Indeed. I find that in I-AA, the talent rises to the top regardless of the quality of their opponents. Guys such as Brian Westbrook, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss (prior to Marshall moving up), Rod Smith, Rich Gannon, Adam Vinatieri, etc. have all come from I-AA teams and done really well in the NFL.The I-AA QBs I'm eyeing this year are Josh Johnson and Ricky Santos. Santos reminds me of Brennan a lot, actually. He's 6'2", 215 lbs. but very mobile and extremely accurate to the tune of possibly having 2 seasons with a 70+ completion rate and an 8.00+ YPA too in both seasons. Not sure if he has the arm to throw the 60 yard bombs but could also benefit from the WCO.

The VT game was played in some pretty crappy weather. And the VT defense is pretty good. Ryan still had almost 300 yards passing. I didn't watch the FSU game so I can't judge him on that one. I'll watch a little of tonights game.
