Denver Broncos

Sam Brandon, S Nov. 08 - IR

Tatum Bell, RB Nov. 07 - OUT

Patrick Chukwurah, LB Nov. 07 - QUESTIONABLE

Al Wilson, LB Nov. 07 - PROBABLE

Nick Ferguson, S Nov. 07 - QUESTIONABLE

John Lynch, S Nov. 07 - PROBABLE

Darrent Williams, CB Nov. 07 - PROBABLE

Rod Smith, WR Nov. 06 - QUESTIONABLE

Gerard Warren, DT Nov. 06 - PROBABLE

Ebenezer Ekuban, DE Nov. 06 - QUESTIONABLE

Ian Gold, LB Nov. 06 - QUESTIONABLE

That is a long list of talented football players, a lot of which are questionable for the game against Oakland this weekend. I know that Oakland isnt a very talented team, but do these injuries play any affect on the Broncos throughout the rest of the season?

The Broncos will need to get healthy in a hurry if they want to keep winning. They still have to play San Diego twice, and KC one more time.

I don't think the above is official - specifically, TBell is not officially out as of today. Here's the official list:

OUT

FS Sam Brandon (Knee)

QUESTIONABLE

RB Tatum Bell (Toe)

OLB Patrick Chukwurah (Hamstring)

DE Ebenezer Ekuban (Thigh)

SS Nick Ferguson (Concussion)

OLB Ian Gold (Hamstring)

FB Kyle Johnson (Ankle)

FS John Lynch (Concussion)

WR Rod Smith (Shoulder)

CB Darrent Williams (Shoulder)

MLB Al Wilson (Concussion)

PROBABLE

RB Cedric Cobbs (Ankle)

DT Gerard Warren (Toe)

They could also be listed like this:

GOOD:

Al Wilson

Ian Gold

Darrent Williams

REALLY OLD:

Rod Smith

John Lynch

REPLACEABLE:

Tatum Bell

Nick Ferguson

OVERRATED:

Ebenezer Ekuban

OVERRATED AND ALWAYS INJURED:

Gerrard Warren

HUH?:

Sam Brandon

Patrick Chukwurah

The banged up D is def. a problem for the Broncos.

Laugh all you want, but if the D is not 100 percent, Oakland could actually beat Denver - home field versus a div. rival.

Your prejudices are showing. First off, with Brandon out, Fergeson's not replaceable. Denver was so thin at safety last week that their #3 CB was manning the Free Safety spot. That's generally not good. Denver has some safety prospects that they like, but with both solid veterans dinged up, and the one solid replacement safety out for the year, Denver *NEEDS* Fergeson to get healthy.Second off, Ekuban and Warren are underrated, not overrated. I mean, when was the last time you'd heard a positive thing about either player? Ekuban is a very solid, high-motor guy who has been one of the few ends getting anything resembling pressure this season with Pryce and Brown gone. As for Warren... he didn't sign a huge-money deal last offseason for no reason. He was playing phenominally, and was considered perhaps the most important cog in getting Denver's defensive scheme to work. I think Warren's absence was the primary reason why Denver lost to Indy- with Warren out of the lineup, there just wasn't anyone good enough to either command a double team or get some pressure. Also, Gerrard Warren is not always injured, that's Courtney Brown. Prior to this current stint with injury, Warren had missed 4 games in 5 seasons. Even now, he's only missed 5 games in 6 seasons. As for Sam Brandon and Patrick Chukwurah... both of those are pretty substantial losses, too. Chuckwurah is another of the few names on Denver's roster capable of getting somewhat consistant pressure (such as it is), but he's pretty replaceable in the grand scheme of things since he's a DE (Denver has a lot more depth at DE than DT, with Ekuban, Lang, Chuckwurah, Dumerville, and Engelberger all big in the rotation). Sam Brandon, on the other hand, is a former starting safety who is currently the "Big Nickle" DB- also known as the guy who's been responsible for covering (and shutting down) Gonzo and Gates for the last season and a half. With three games against Gonzo and Gates in the next 5 weeks, Brandon's loss is probably going to hurt the most out of all of them.

Nah, just in the mood to yank the chains of Broncos' fans today. Look around, I also attacked Elway again in another thread.
I'll have to make sure to burn you in effigy after dinner tonight. :coffee: :hophead:Edit: Actually, funny thing is that was a pretty decent list, outside of Warren being often injured, Ferguson being replaceable, and Brandon being anonymous (well, he really is anonymous, but he's an important part of the defense, still).

Why is the Broncos D ranked so high in the rankings? They are missing half their defense. Advantage OAK, Broncos are on my bench for the Vikings.

You're kidding, right? Tell me this is a fishing trip? Tell me that I don't honestly have to explain to you that Oakland has allowed 44 sacks, which is way ahead of second-place Cleveland (27). Please don't tell me that I have to remind you that Denver is 4th in the league with 16 takeaways (including 6 last week with half a defense), or that Oakland is 2nd in the league with 21 giveaways (and would be first if Denver hadn't taken the ball away 6 times from Pittsburgh last week). I mean, I seriously hope that you don't need to be reminded that Oakland is the worst scoring offense in the league, or that Denver is the best scoring defense. You were fishing, right? I don't have to point any of that out to you, do I? :P

First off, not all of those players will wind up missing time. Darrent Williams, Al Wilson, and John Lynch will almost certainly go. I'd bet Ferguson plays, too. The only guys who I question are Ekuban and Chukwurah (who are rather fungible, given Denver's depth at DE), and Ian Gold.Besides, Denver was playing with those exact same JV players at the end of the Pittsburgh game last week and they still got 6 turnovers.

Even with the worst case scenario, that neither of these will be playing we're still looking at a sack fiesta led by Dumervil, Lang and Myers

As a Jaguars fan I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I wish the Jags injury report looked that clean. Yea the Broncos have some injuries, but every team does at this point in the season.

i'm not a donkey fan, but i'm glad they pulled a win out.

losing to oakland is a fate i don't wish on my rivals, let alone the home team, even if it aint my team
