Broncos Training Camp (1 Viewer)

Not sure if this has been said already, but all this Mike Bell hype reminds me of the year when Q. Griffin was going to be the man...we all remember how that turned out.....I still think Tatum will be the #1 back, getting about 60% of the carries, M. Bell will get the rest...Dayne?...who knows...
Scares the crap outta me too. I took Q at #10 (dynasty) 2 years ago. Oops! I have the #10 again this year.

The big difference is, of course, that unlike Q-Tip, Mike Bell actually has a skill-set that is well-suited for Denver's offensive scheme. Also, while a lot of people will argue the point, Shanahan has said that Mike Anderson had won the starting job away from Griffin before he got injured that preseason. Whether you believe it or not (personally, I believe it, since Shanahan has always been honest about his RBs), it goes to show that Griffin wasn't quite as secure in his position as fantasy owners would have liked to believe.

:goodposting: I think this is the key. Shanny seems to favor a consistant running back over a homerun hitter (like Tatum). MBell seems like a grinder that will hit the line hard. If you look at Denver RB play by plays, they pick up their yardage in little chunks, not big breaks. They might have 7 or 8 ten yard runs instead of one 70 yarder. You dont need breakaway speed to flourish in this offense. You do, however, need to pick up positive yards on most every carry. Denver doesnt want 2nd and 10s and 3 and 7s, they want 2nd and 4 and 3rd and 1. I wrote off Dayne precisely because (despite his build) he goes down on first contact- he is in fact a very similar runner to Tatum despite their differences. Mike Bell is right now the kind of thunder Shanny likes. If he can hold on to the ball and keep picking up positive yards, he can keep his gig.

I'm not sure why the Broncos would want to bring in another RB and I don't know how Philly can afford to trade a RB, but here's a blogger rumor:

August 22, 2006, 07:37 Broncos, Eagles :: RB, WRBroncos Interested In RB Moats?Bob Brookover, Philadelphia Inquirer - [Full Article]There's been talk for weeks that the Broncos like RB Ryan Moats a lot, so it's not inconceivable that he could be dealt for WR Ashley Lelie, especially if WR Todd Pinkston isn't able to recover from the foot problems that have slowed him the entire preseason.
