@AdamSchefter Without Trade, Jerome Harrison doesn't get physical. Without physical, doctor's don't find brain tumor. Trade might have saved his life.

Wow. I hope this is nothing too serious, but I'm glad that they were able to find the tumor.

this is all kinds of suck and awesomeness in one story......

hope he is okay.....

will never forget the stretch run he had there for a few weeks......amazing

I know we are all thinking more about trades not going through and whether or not Best will sit out for the rest of the year but the real story here is Jerome Harrison and the brain tumor they discovered when he got the physical. It is unknown at this time whether this tumor is malignant or benign but lets all keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Certainly his life and football career could be in danger. Even with a benign tumor if they have to open his skull to remove it that will be a career ender. No one can play ball with a titanium plate in their head but certainly that is better than the alternative and this ends up being brain cancer. God be with him.

Just saw this reported by Schefter. The trade may have saved Harrison's life.
I hope so, I went through this two years ago with my wife and we were lucky that the pathology report came back benign. There are not too many brain cancer survivors unfortunately.

My dad died of a brain tumor, death sentence. Although the younger you are the better chances you have. Anyone over 60 can forget about it.

I'm really sorry about your father and I'm not being insensitive, but your statement is just not true. There are so many variables when it commes to brain tumors such as size, location, when they are discovered, etc. that it's impossible to say that age is the only factor. Again I'm not trying to be that guy, but I work in the Neuro surgical field where I deal with brain surgeries on a daily basis with many positive outcomes. Good luck to Jerome

Cool story. But I have to wonder why a physical wasn't performed on him earlier by the Lions. Don't teams check on their players health? Or did this tumor just start sometime between camp and last week?

This is what seems strange to me as well. He last saw game action in week 3, and was deactivated for week 5 & 6.

I would at least have thought they would have done an intense physical when they signed him. I would have to assume this is something new between this summer and now.

You could even go as far as to say that Jahvid Best's concussion may have saved Harrison's life, since that was what most likely triggered the trade in the first place.

Best wishes to Jerome.
