How many votes will he get in Wisc? lolBrownback fumbles on quarterback reference
Lake Geneva -- Apparently U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) underestimated how deep the Green Bay Packers blood runs in Wisconsin.
Brownback, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, was speaking to members of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, who are gathered here for their annual convention.
Brownback was talking about strengthening families and said it was like "blocking and tackling" in football and referred to Indiapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning as "the greatest quarterback maybe in NFL history."
The crowd, clearly partisan in favor of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, jokingly booed him.
Booing continued as Brownback realized his mistake and tried to get back on track.
He laughed, let the crowd noise die down a bit, then said, "The Packers are great, I'm sorry...I'm not sure how to recover from this."
