From the Orange and Brown Report:

Fox Sports Ohio's Zac Jackson reported earlier this evening that the Browns have cut six players, including NT Shaun Rogers. Lane Adkins has confirmed the Rogers news, and additional detail has been forthcoming from our old friend Adam Caplan. Here is the story on Fox Sports Ohio. More detail coming later today on FSOhio and the OBR. UPDATE: Adkins was told Wednesday evening that the Browns were ready to make those moves a week ago, but they were waiting for the completion of Super Bowl XLV.Rogers (DL), Eric Barton (LB), David Bowens (LB), Kenyon Coleman (DL), Robert Royal (TE) and John St. Clair (OL) are not involved in the team's plans moving forward and the Browns decided to make those moves now. Finally, Adkins was told there could be a few more cuts, "with potentially a surprise or two sprinkled in."
Surprising. I thought Rogers could have helped out in the 4-3. At the least, I thought the Browns could have gotten a late round pick. Happy trails, Big Baby! Sad to see you go.

Rumor was out there last night about this on my ridiculously long snowy/icy commute...speculation was already out there that the Bears are interested.

Big Baby during his browns tenure always said he wanted to go back to Detroit. In fact when detroit traded for Corey Williams, BigBaby pretty much told him you will love it and I want to go back

That'd be an interesting move for the Lions - he wouldn't be needed for the full 60 minutes because of their depth which should help him be productive. Not sure about his attitude or adding him to the locker room though.

Hmmm...I wasn't aware the Browns were going to a 4-3. I know they were stockpiling LB's last year for their 3-4. Even after cutting Barton and Bowens they still have a lot of LB's.

Curious as to who will stick and at which LB spot.

I don't think there was a Browns game on TV all last season in my area. I remember watching a game last year or perhaps the year before and being really impressed with him. Anybody with a good idea of how he looked this year? At 31 it's hard to see a guy his size having much more than a year or two left in the tank.

I'd be curious to see whether any of these guys make their way back to the Jets (three were in Cleveland courtesy of Mangini). They still run a 3-4 and the Jets were vulnerable to better teams with depth (not necessarily "stars" on offense). They even commented on Hard Knocks how top heavy they were with talent (and how little depth they had).

Glad to see the Browns cutting one of our best defensive players.

Sure, he had to take plays off due to his size and increasing age, but he was effective when he was in there.

I guess that what I considered a position of strength with Rubin and Rogers now may need some addressing in the draft.

Some of them, like Roth, could end up as DEs.

Should have hung onto Howard Green

Seems like LB depth is weak throughout the NFL. Those guys could have gotten them something, even if a late pick. Rogers contract might have made him not so easy to trade. I guess the CBA stuff just made them impatient?

Yeah, he seems pretty good. And he's got something most Jets don't have now.
