Bryant Johnson (1 Viewer)

With Boldin sitting out the 3rd day of practice, it seems more an more like the receiving game will be in Fitz's hands.

We'd be nieve to think the Steelers wont try and lock him down and no one is talking about Bryant Johnson.

This former 1st round pick has grown while being in the shadows of Boldin and Fitz.

I see no reason why Bryant Johnson wont have a big day against the Steelers.

While I don't think I'll need him in any leagues this week, I think he would be a fine bye week replacement.

Could be a a nice option especially if Warner gets in. I don't think it's a sure thing Boldin's (though listed doubtful) out Sunday . IMO He'll gut it out

Drafted Boldin. Drafted Bryant with my last pick b/c I knew Fitz or Boldin would miss a couple games, but there are so many other options out there, so I drafted Bryant before the week 3 games. Just my opinion.

Because Leinart/Warner will be spending most of their Day supine?Seriously though, Cards are going to have to dink and dunk to move the ball. Edge in the slot or with flair/circle routes will be their best weapon. Neither Haggans or Harrison can run with him.Johnson should see his targets, but either Deshea or BMac are capable covers. You'd be betting on a missed tackle or a blown coverage to play him, cause he's not going to create space on his own. You can bet Leinart hangs him out to dry and Smith blows him up at least once this game also.Only Card I'd be optimistic about is Edge.

I was with you until you mention that he'll need a blown coverage or a missed tackle to make catches and/or plays. This is the NFL, Johnson didn't have 40/740/4 as a wr3 in 06 off of defensive breakdowns.Bottom line is B Johnson will be the last thing on Pittsburgh's mind. If Matt or Kurt find the open man.... its going to be Johnson. The run game with Edge was toast the day the game was next on their schedule. If Az wants to win this game they will pass.

Guess that's why they play the games. We will see.I can guarantee you that Johnson will not be the last thing on Tomlin's mind though.

Arizona has an embarrassment of riches at the WR position.

By my count, Johnson would be the clear # 1 receiver for these teams:

- NYJ

- Tenn

- Jax

- Oak

- S.D.

- K.C.

- Balt

- Phil

- Minn

- T.B.

- Atl

- S.F.

And he might be the # 1 receiver on these teams:

- Buff

- Miami

- Wash

- Sea

I disagree. I have been to every home game this guy has played since coming into the league, and his hands are really not that great. At the games, a group of us usually have a bet on the over-under of Johnson's drops during the game. It's usually 2 or 3. He cost the Cards the KC game last year with his drop in the endzone. He dropped two passes last week against Baltimore. And he didn't fight for the ball in the endzone on the Card's last drive where they settled for a FG. He just can't seem to make the big plays when we need it.He benefits being the third WR where the top two get all the coverage and are usually doubled covered. I think there are lots of guys we could plug in that could handle his role as WR 3.

I do think he could have a nice game if Boldin sits this week.

Seattle maybe, but not even close with the others on your might list. I doubt he'd be #1 over Curry or Galloway. But, your point is clear, even if we disagree.

Now I agree Bryant has talent and is just being held down since Fitz and Boldin are exceptional, but better than Coles and/or Cotchery? I think you are seriously underrating the Jets receiving corp. The others on your list I'd agree with.

In support of Raidernation, he'd be the starting WR2 on those teams, not the #1 receiver.

Yes, over Cotchery, and, IMO, yes, over Curry or Porter (take your pick on who is one and who is two).

In support of Kutta, BJohn has the droppsies - and he catches about 51-55% of the targets sent his way. Not clear cut #1 type of numbers.

Finally, this is BJohn's contract year with the team - and probably his last year in AZ. If he gets into this game as the starter, he has every incentive in the world to capitalize. This could be a make or break game for him to ever make starter quality money in the NFL.
