Bryce Oliver Titans WR (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I didn't start a thread for him last year because UDFA not expected to make the team whatsoever.
From like 13th on the depth chart to start camp, to PS, to playing.

He had a terrific summer.
He was eventually challenged to not just make catches but also contribute on ST and became their gunner.
During the season, he made six catches. Callahan consistently said he deserves to play more and then didn't play him more.

The Titans WRs were bad in 2024.
His six catches were curiously in pretty key situations and tough plays. Imagine a third down in week 5, a third in week 7 etc.

I wanted him to play more and was getting frustrated. It never happened. The best we got was like a bunch more snaps when they were running the ball.

He has some muscle and toughness to him. He has an outstanding ability to get the ball. Ol Calvin was glorious reaching that long arm and pluck "mine." Oliver is not that. He's all effort. He's diving or jumping or hip checking or ...he IS getting it. I love this about him. This alone makes him better than so many young WRs I've seen the last decade and they all somehow look like divas after seeing him. Ya definitely have to see it. It'll make you pause and think wait a sec, why don't others do this?

Callahan has consistently said he is the starter all off-season. He praised him at the Combine and on national TV.
Full of sarcasm in shark pool style, I said "the best six catch WR ever!"

GM Borgonzi discussed Oliver and how he is exactly what they hope the drafted WRs become. During the draft process it became easier to just use his name when discussing potential WRs. 😳

Tyler Lockett said he thinks between Jarvis Brownlee and Bryce, the Titans have two of the best players no one seems to know about. 😳

Ridley has been telling the rookies the importance of special teams because once they added Lockett, they had their third starter.😳

So...
They didn't draft a WR early as expected and apparently there's quite a lot of faith in this six catch kid.
We don't do threads on every single player and UDFAs that barely play and...at some point- probably now- I'm a fool for not having started one.

I'll believe it when he actually plays a lot but I can't deny that all these quotes are exactly what ya want to hear either.

"Restrepo is a better UDFA WR and he knows Ward"
Don't give me stuff like this fictitious quote. I have been right there with ya. I'm not one to shine too much unless it's Mariota.
Yes I wanted him to play more but since he didn't, I sure didn't expect this offseason talk.

He's got fine routes fine speed great hands but I'm telling ya- his ability to get the ball no matter what; it definitely catches your eye.

I agree 💯 that this backhanded under your nose type method is the only way the Titans would ever land a top WR and every sort of dig ya got.

There's something about this kid and it's quite considerable that he remained in their off-season plans and discussion.

Finished minicamp very strong with 3 catches for 3 TDs when others struggled. Mentioned in WR thread.
He's firmly in the mix to start.
Everyone talking about him today.

That he's established on ST gives him a slight edge if we're talking WR 4-6.

Callahan said he expects Oliver (and James Williams) to be a starter on the first depth chart as camp opens. He explained those two spots weren't really what they've been debating but known by everyone.

This six catch weirdness is rrrreally something

Odd that he is gaining steam, everything I read about the guy seems very pedestrian (from an athletic and skill profile).

He likes to mix it up. He likes contact.
He developed nicely as a gunner.
Maybe Callahan is using that as a message for the rookies?
This is the first post NWI year where he won't be out hustling everyone.
Maybe there's something to a combination of above

I'm adding Oliver and drafting him last now.
He's run with the ones since late last season and that should be enough for WW last pick.

PK had a tweet a rare mistake by Oliver.
TD said he is good for a (noteworthy) play a day since last spring, ya know last year even.
He had a big catch when NFL Network was there and caught their eyes in individual drills.

Two free agents added. Two drafted rookies. Guy is still there.

Could Elic and Dike start over him and hit their ceiling and ...yeah but now we're months into it and it's gotta turn some back to Oliver only being in his second year and what about his ceiling and potential.

Originally I pointed out he's catch your eye type awesome on ST and you can't not notice his enormous fight he gives to catch every ball. He'll knock ya over or wrestle with you or some exaggeration but was that even enough? A rookie QB has to love it and staff have to as well because they know Cam will learn and throw some a little off. But how much value is in all that?

Dude is still there and I think it's time to add him and see what happens.

I'm considering adding Raiders rookie starters late in drafts and ...Oliver has at least earned last pick homer exception for me.

I keep my FF roster very fluid so anyone after round ten I will be open to moving right away but...I think it's time to give this guy a bit of credit.

When the games start, when we see who plays how much, we can adjust but Ridley...

Ridley has never been reliable for FF. He's been best ever in every way in camp- attitude, bod, leadership, stays late goes early. He could be Cam's rock but that's never happened in his career and he's 29. Usually he gets like 40-50 yards against a top-ish CB.

So suppose that happens- who gets it then? Ol Lockett? Rookies? Or Oliver?

I'm going with Oliver and breaking my homer rule. It's just so easy- maybe I have a(NFL) starter, maybe I don't care if I cut him week two

What is Oliver dirt from today's game? Besides the leap.
He and Elic and Van each had three catches.

One of Oliver's others was what I've been saying for a year- I just love how he believes every ball is his. An aggressive "gimme, that's mine."

Oliver playing with Cam Ward?
Yes he has all offseason.
Cam has taken both 1st and 2nd team reps since Levis' injury so the line is greyed but...even in the spring he was with Ward

I have Oliver/ Thorton and Horton all as last roster spot guys. They all seem like guys that could be their team's #2 target guy. Once the bullets start flying who knows if they're sticking around on my roster but for now..
Thorton> Horton > Oliver ?
My 6 teams, so far only one share of Oliver and one of Horton. I tried to pry Horton from the Chase Brown mgr with Taj Brooks (he's thin at RB so it looked good on paper to me) but my guy always thinks he's got the golden ticket with his guys.

Anyway, Oliver. I know nothing about the guy other than this thread. @Bri if he smashes (which I would consider a bye week filler WR4 type) then thank you sir.
