Bucs opt to start Clayton over Ike Hilliard (1 Viewer)

Michael Clayton will be the Buccaneers' starting flanker over Ike Hilliard against the Packers Sunday.

This is a surprise, as Hilliard hasn't played poorly. Clayton gets a favorable matchup, as he's likely to see mostly former undrafted free agent Tramon Williams in coverage, although Clayton is still likely to rotate with Hilliard often. Williams is starting in place of injured Al Harris. Sep. 28 - 12:05 pm et

Showcase for the trade interest they've been recieving for him, I'd imagine.

Do you have a link???

(Rotoworld) Bucs declared WR Joey Galloway, QB Jeff Garcia, QB Josh Johnson, FB B.J. Askew, LB Matt McCoy, G Davin Joseph, T James Lee, and DT Ryan Sims inactive for Week 4 against the Pack.

Analysis: Ike Hilliard starts out side opposite Antonio Bryant. Brian Griese will play quarterback. Joseph still isn't ready to help in the running game.

First reaction is ugh - and have about 8 min to make a change to another scrub off the WW... but perhaps this means Ike will have his more "natural" role in the slot.

:-/

:football: This is what I get for over-reacting to the David Patten/Lance Moore news. I grabbed Hilliard to replace Moore.

That said, I'm leaving Hilliard in. Michael Clayton hasn't done anything in a long while and maybe it will make Hilliard have even easier coverage against a Packers secondary missing half its starters.

Seems incredibly weird to me, as Hilliard has arguably been the Bucs best WR in this short season to date. Obviously Bryant has been more of the big play guy, but Hilliard has been rock solid and catching nearly everything thrown his way. Very weird to me.
