Bump up Marty Booker (1 Viewer)

The Miami Dolphins have switched the positions of WR Chris Chambers and WR Marty Booker heading into the regular season, with Chambers playing in the "X" position and Booker moving into the "Z" position. "I was the Z last year and he was the X. I did a lot of the motion, the reverses, screens and inside routes," said Chambers. "Now, he's doing that stuff. I'm pretty much focused on one side of the ball for the most part. If needed to move I could move."

Take what you want from it but I understand that Booker will be the featured WR in this offence from this quote...........................

75/1000/6

Not sure how you take Booker as the featured WR when all it states is a change of position, Cameron has long been using the X as the main guy for years. New scheme, jsut a reshuffle of personell to put them where they will work best, i wouldnt bump anyone up or down based off this..

The Z position is typically the featured WR

From Wiki

Flanker (Z or FL): A receiver lining up behind the line of scrimmage. Frequently the team's featured receiver, the flanker uses the initial buffer between himself and a defender to avoid jamming, legal contact within five yards of the line of scrimmage. The flanker is generally on the same side of the formation as a tight end. As with the split end, this receiver is the farthest player from center on his side of the field. The flanker is probably lined up just like a split end EXCEPT that he is just behind the line of scrimmage, being in the backfield and not on the line.

What part of that is false?

None of it, but my problem is that I don't see where it says the Z receiver is the featured receiver. It seems to me that Cameron wants Booker to have responsibility for the motion plays and wants Chambers to beat his man off the line and get behind the defense. We can then argue about who will get more passes given that situation

The key word there is frequently. It's about as concise as 'a couple' 'some' and 'a few.'I'll agree on paragraph two. I'm not too hyped up on the Dolphin passing game, so I don't think it really matters.

Agreed. My perception of the Wiki use of it is that frequently is a noticeable number of times, but not necessarily the majority of timesTypically = only in unusual situations is it not the case. The words are def. not synonyms.

To me it seems as a downgrade not up for Booker...last year Booker had 55/747/6 in 14 games at the x position and Chambers had 59/677/4 in 16 games at the z position. Plus Ginn practiced at the z position mostly this past pre-season.

 We are talking about the Miami Dolphins right??? The only way to bump up the WR's is to put them on a different team.
Ratcheting up Marty Booker on original posters advice. Booker is now in the solid turd area. FYI, Miami is another team that is picking in the top 10 in the 2008 draft. Booker 45-650 4 TD's if he's lucky.

Hey I play in a league where we start 7 WRs, this is solid information that's going to get me that championship trophy.

What I want to know is what position did McCardell play in? Because that was clearly the targeted position in Cam's offense. I don't think X or Y matter that much in generic terms; they matter in terms of the specific offense.

I think I heard Rex say that last year too,

(KFFL) Jeff Darlington, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins WR Chris Chambers is moving from the Z position to X receiver, which should allow him more space to exploit mismatches. Head coach Cam Cameron says Chambers has embraced the change through the initial stages of workouts. Chambers said several factors led to his disappointing 2006 season, but said lack of continuity in the offense and trust was chief reasons. Chambers said trust has been resolved. He also takes comfort knowing Cameron's offense with the San Diego Chargers was just as prolific with QB Philip Rivers in 2006 as it was with QB Drew Brees in 2005. Brees left for the New Orleans Saints after the 2005 season. Chambers describes his new role in the offense as "freedom," and his goals for the 2007 season are to finish with close to 80 catches and 10 touchdowns.

This was from May. No new news. Booker is not the second coming. I own Chambers, but I am not happy about it.
