Business Plan for Small Business (1 Viewer)

YSR

Footballguy
I'm helping a GB write a business plan for his new business (he's trying to procure a loan so that he can buy the building he's currently leasing).

I have my thoughts on how it should go and I at least have him following an outline, but he's all over the place with what he's writing IMO.

Would anyone be willing to share a plan that they have written just so we can get an idea of how much information is actually needed?

Thanks.

Sorry chief. That's some fairly private info. Google is your friend. Plenty of great templates to use.

What he writes won't mean a whole lot. It's all about the benjamins...or more precisely, the cashflow. Can he objectively show that the loan payments will be covered with ease?

The numbers will be disected and more emphasis will be placed on the past financials than anything he "plans" to do.

Yeah, I understand that. Guess I thought someone could strip out all private information and provide a shell of some kind.

This is what I think, but he was told by someone that you "cannot give too much information" in a business plan when you're seeking a loan. Therefore, he's going into a ton of detail in just about every section and I just think it's information overload/not really relevant to a financial institution. As for the financials, he currently has no debt on the business, as he used his own money to start it. They have been open since the last week in October and over the course of the month of November, the business actually made money. It's a franchise/new office location of a business that has done very weel in other markets, so he can show those financials I suppose.

This website/organisation pretty much helps with anything and everything regarding starting a small business for free.
 He's been following the outline that SCORE provides on their website. I've asked him to call these people (he met with them before a few months ago) for input but he seems to think he can handle it on his own.

I agree that what he writes won't mean much.

He'd be better off spending time with an Excel sheet justifying the financial with some good projections and sensitivity analysis. When I started my cell phone stores, I had a HUGE spread sheet with income statements and cash flow projections. I don't think I even had a "written" portion when I went to the bank. It was basically, "I want to sell phones. Here's the estimates."

I'll send you some of mine if you like. But posting an outline is easier. I've written about half a dozen, 3 of which got funding. The financials is the big part though.
