"I don’t accept a Jew, Israeli or Zionist... I’m with killing them wherever they are: children, elderly people, and soldiers. The Jews are sons of the dogs… I am in favor of killing them and burning them like Hitler did." –
@NYTimes
stringer Fady Hanona

Forget this thread. What they're accusing Trump today of is so much worse than anything I could have even imagined. Our attention should be undivided.

Trumpsters are the new Jews, imho.
As a Jew, I’d reply to this post with my true feelings, but you’re not worth a permaban. Suffice it to say that the false equivalence is absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself (but I know you’re not).
The good news is that it's not nearly as offensive as some of his other metaphors (and that's saying something, since this one is pretty offensive).

I honestly think he's lost something off his fastball.

As a human being and a jew you should be disgusted with the left's demonization and persecution of the political opposition. This has been the tool of every evil authoritarian government of the 20th century. The left is creating two sets of rules, one for the "oppressed" and one for the "oppressors". It is not about equality under the law. The left has fallen off the clift and is opposed to the most fundamental rules of an equal, fair and free society. The left today values the Maxist concept of equity and gives little or no weight to equality.

Whether it be villianization of the enemies by class (bourgeoisie vs. the proletariat) or the villianization of those by race (Ayryan vs. Jews), the end result is an evil villianious authoritarian government.

As much as people think this is ridiculous, the vast majority of leftist posts are villianizing the right and cheerleading for their prosecution. The leftist politics today breeds this kind of hatred and produces a basic primial hunger for revenge and blood. I am sure Germans and Russians and Italians and Chinese scoffed at the notion that they were being lead down the path of producing an evil government capable of unthinkable atrocities resulting in over 100 million deaths. But this is a path the radical left is leading this country down and the vast majority of leftists are being taken in by their rhetoric. A free and fair society is difficult to keep, and it does not take long for history to repeat itself.

Ugh. Horrible, insensitive and tone deaf analogy.

And yet what @rockaction posted above about Avi Meyer didn't move you at all. Only what Jon posted?

Your fake outrage is quite obvious.

I don't care what some Op-Ed writer for the NYT, who I have never heard of, says.
But you care deeply about what internet poster JonMx says?

I don't care for what some Op-Ed writer for the NYT, who I have never heard of, says.
Like it or not the NYT is the most influential paper out there, so who they choose to allow a platform matters. So this person is ok, but Tom Cotton isn't?

That speaks volumes.

I have said nothing at all about Tom Cotton, Mr. Straw Man.

I am not going to take time commenting on the views of everyone who does an Op-Ed for the NYT that is quoted here.

Yes, because he posts regularly in this forum.

You're missing the whole point. The point is that evidently the NYT is ok with giving a platform to someone clearly inciting genocide, but when Tom Cotton wrote an op-ed the NYT backtracked and apologized to their people for giving Cotton a platform.

It's quite troubling that the NYT finds a sitting US Senator's thoughts more troubling than someone advocating genocide for the Israelis. It is completely fair to judge the NYT based on who they choose to platform and who they do not. Not even close to a straw man.

This seems like a pretty fair assessment of things.

It is not only troubling but it is all too common. Leftists do not have to apologize for their violent protests or inciteful rhetoric or feel shame for their hatefulled opinions. Leftists don't have to apologize when their mob attacks a kid and tries to kill him. In the eyes of leftist, their evil gets a pass.

On the flip side, the right's transgressions are grossly hyperbolized and demands the severest punishment. Any criticism of such disequal treatment is attacked, dismissed, and cancelled. We no longer have a society with true freedom to express opposing views. Women must accept men in their locker rooms. Parents must accept state decisions on medical treatments for the children no matter how unproven and dangerous those experiments prove to be.

Trump has little virtue and seems uncompelling to defend. But we either stand up for equality and fairness or we fall into peril.

The statement by the NYT stringer (not sure where people got the idea that he's an op-ed writer) is vile and disgusting. If he were posting in this forum I would tell him that.

Jon's ridiculous statement that "Trumpsters are the new Jews" is not nearly as vile, but it's still offensive (though very much of a piece with his constant desire to claim victimhood status).

I don't know why people think it's such a gotcha to point out that anti-Semitism exists on both the left and the right. Believe me, us Jews are well aware of the fact that we have haters all across the political spectrum (and also, thankfully, that we have strong supporters across the political spectrum). Pointing one out doesn't diminish the other.

FYI, couldn't find any MSM outlets reporting on Hanona's comments, but this article gives a pretty good background:
A Gaza City “fixer” credited by name on six New York Times articles published this month has a social media history that includes a post that said, “I don’t accept a Jew, Israeli or Zionist, or anyone else who speaks Hebrew. I’m with killing them wherever they are: children, elderly people, and soldiers…The Jews are sons of the dogs… I am in favor of killing them and burning them like Hitler did. I will be so happy.”

The post was unearthed and published by HonestReporting, a pro-Israel advocacy and media watchdog group.

The Times “fixer” whose social media posts were at issue, Fady Hanona, did not immediately reply to an email from The Algemeiner asking whether the statement had been accurately attributed to him, whether it still represented his view, and whether it was consistent with working as a journalist for the New York Times.

The Times assistant managing editor for international news coverage, Michael Slackman, referred an inquiry from The Algemeiner to a London-based New York Times spokeswoman, who did not provide an immediate response to questions about whether the Times is looking into the matter, or about whether it continues to use Hanona’s services.
Also a good explanation of exactly what a "fixer" does (very different from a "stringer", which is how he was identified in the post at the top of the thread)
An August 9, 2022 Associated Press dispatch disclosed, “Hamas, which seized power in Gaza in 2007 from rival Palestinian forces, requires all visiting reporters to have a local sponsor — usually a Palestinian journalist or translator hired by the news outlet.” The AP said that during the recent clashes, Hamas imposed “sweeping new restrictions,” which the AP said “appeared aimed at imposing the Islamic militant group’s narrative on media coverage of the conflict.”

Under the guidelines, the AP said, “sponsors were told they must accompany the journalists during their reporting and will be held responsible for what they produce. The sponsors were warned that they must ‘demonstrate national spirit, defend the Palestinian narrative and reject the foreigner’s bias to the Israeli narrative.’”
Based on the above, I'm going to make a couple educated guesses, which I freely concede could end up being wrong:

One, the Times had limited options in terms of who they could hire for this role, and they ended up with someone who held noxiously anti-Semitic views. Maybe that was poor vetting, maybe that was the best they could do, maybe if that was the best they could do they should have refused Hamas' terms. I have no idea.

Two, after the discovery of these social media posts, Fady Hanona will not be employed as a NYT fixer going forward.

It's bad enough that leftists are all a bunch of Marxist Nazi authoritarians, but why must they also villainize their opponents?

I'm trying to find your post where you are through with trumpists because trump was accused in leaks and you are through with people who support trump. I thought that was in this thread. which thread was it?

I've never seen anyone with less self awareness. He and his fellow conservatives are always the righteous victims. The left are bullying, name calling devils. Time and time again he complains that the floors are dirty after trampling mud all over the place.

“The New York Times had worked with this freelance reporter only in recent weeks. We are no longer doing so,” a spokesperson for the Gray Lady told The Post.

The Times did not respond to inquiries about whether Hanona was vetted and how many articles he contributed to.

Hanona has since deleted his social media accounts and could not be reached by The Post."
