Buying or Selling Alfred Morris (1 Viewer)

Sell, sell, sell. He put up solid numbers vs The Saints but I don't believe he's about to be a stud. This is what u do with Redskins RB's, not even debatable.

what is he going to get you? a low end wr2? you have to hold, i would be buying myself.

most people think he will loose his job. that may be true but because of that, his value is still very low

also, he plays stl next week. if you want to move him or not, you should absolutely hold him for at least 1 more week

I think his value goes up after the Rams game, a very easy matchup.

Even Shanahan said that he was his starting RB "for now". That (along with his past history) tells you all you need to know.

I've heard quite a few poolers tout him. Just curious why. Obviously, when push comes to shove (see most every response in this thread), people aren't really committed to investing in him as a key component to their FF season. But let's say you're selling and I'm entertaining an offer.

What would say to convince me?

Here is what I see

[*]Had two good preseason games

[*]very average measurables starting with his 4.67 speed

[*]averaged 3.4 yards per carry against a team that gave up 5.0 last season

[*]level of competition (Sun Belt conference)

28 touches, great stuff to be excited about. 28 touches when your coach is Mike Shanahan, not so much.

Honestly I couldn't see offering more than a WR4 for him. Not a genuine talent, mercurial coach who could bench him the first time he fumblers or misses a blitzing LB, 10 catches in a 4-year career in a pro style offense, won't be a PPR factor with Helu around.

Agree with folks who say sell after next week, but I can't imagine you'll get much coming back.

ETA: typo

- faster than Arian Foster- the Redskins OL was decimated by injuries and just recently came together. A zone blocking scheme needs everyone on the same page and should get better as the season progresses, assuming everyone stays healthy. Morris average 4 YPC in the 2nd half vs. 2 YPC in the 1st half.

I'm holding for one more week and then fielding offers.

I'm in a $500 salary cap league (MJD went for $110, Rivers $126) and he's under contract for $2 for this and two more years. That's the rub.

I picked him up in 2 leagues (redraft keeper & dynasty) just before Sunday's game. I'm a buyer because his upside is immense and his price relatively cheap. I paid $5 for him in my dynasty (you get $50 every season to use for transactions) and he was a FA in my redraft. Obviously, his stock is up now since the game. When you draft like I do (I drafted only 3 RBs in my 14 team keeper), there's nothing but upside to a guy like ALaMO.

to those that are saying sell...

what do you expect to get for him? what would you be happy with getting for him?

Going to hold him one more week, as I think he has a big game against the Rams as well and then sell high.

I already have Martin, Murray, Ridley and BJGE so I don't exactly need him.

If you look at his past history, he's generally gone with one rb until that guy gets hurt or shows an unimaginable level of suck. I don't think Morris is a stud but I do believe he's better than some folks will admit. I'd buy him from someone looking to sell high.

What Shanahan has wanted all along is a RB he can trust so as long as he's healthy it's his job. The only problem is that his lack of receptions limits his upside in PPR, but I still think he'll put up low RB2 numbers.
“Alfred right now is our starting running back. I thought he did a very good job. [There were] two or three runs in there that a lot of people can’t make, and we’re gonna substitute him when he gets tired,” Shanahan said. “Or, like you mention, if he’s not playing well or maybe he doesn’t have a hot hand. But right now, based on what I’ve seen in the preseason and what I’ve seen through the first game, he will be our starting running back, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of belief in Helu or Royster. Those guys did a heck of a job for us last year and will continue to do a great job for us this year. But Alfred will be our starter.”

this guy might be the new skool lhucks.

I think Alfred Morris is a keeper (buy him if you don't have him).

Shanahan usually is slow to let rookies play and start. RGIII, Kerrigan, and Trent Williams are the exceptions, where they are expected to start day one due to their talent. Shanahan was slow to give the reins to Terrell Davis and Clinton Portis in Denver, slowly working them into the line up and finally as starters. Shanahan is showing a lot of faith in Morris, starting him and giving him nearly all the carries. Even when there weren't a lot of yards in the first half, he stuck with Morris rather than seeing if Royster or Helu could be a hotter hand.

Shanahan has already shown he has a lot of faith in Morris, more than he had in Davis or Portis at this point in their rookie seasons. Barring injury, I expect Morris to start all season.
