Um, it's Chris Brown of the Titans, right? Then, yeah I'm pretty sure he's got turf toe and I didn't even need to watch or read anything.

lol... fire the grounds crew

I used to think that the "injury prone" tag was used to loosely with RB's in the NFL. After all, most RB's will get hurt at some point due to the violent nature of the game.

But then there are guys like Injur-Lee Suggs, Domanick Davis, and Chris Brown. These guys make Fred Taylor look like an Iron Man.

In no way am I defending C. Brown but turf toe does not go away. It can be addressed and corrected with rest and or surgery but once you have it....you have it. It does not take much to reaggrevate the injury either.

Brown, Henry and White all possibly out.

My understanding was that White was held out by Fisher to teach the youngster a lesson. I heard that on the radio this past weekend. We'll see by Wednesday or Thursday of this week but I think White probably dresses and plays Sunday.

It is to bad that the Titans could not find a K. Collins of RB's. Oh wait that did not work for them at QB either. :lmao:

I still think that was a horrid move by the Titans.

what exactly IS turf toe? don't think i ever found out.
Turf ToeWhat is turf toe?

Turf toe is a condition of pain at the base of the big toe, located at the ball of the foot. The condition is usually caused from either jamming the toe, or pushing off repeatedly when running or jumping. The most common complaint is pain at the base of the toe, but you may also have symptoms of stiffness and swelling.

The name turf toe comes from the fact that this injury is especially common among athletes who play on artificial turf. The hard surface of artificial turf, combined with running and jumping in football and soccer, make turf toe a frequent consequence of Astroturf play.

What happens to the toe in turf toe?

When a player sustains a turf toe injury they are actually tearing the capsule that surrounds the joint at the base of the toe.

Tearing this joint capsule can be extremely painful. Furthermore, tear of the joint capsule can lead to instability and even dislocation of the joint at the base of the toe. This may lead to accelerated cartilage wear and arthritis of the big toe (hallux rigidus).

What is the treatment of turf toe?

The diagnosis of turf toe is not difficult, but X-rays may be taken to ensure there is no fracture. Treatment of turf toe consists of resting the sore toe, icing the area, and elevating the foot; anti-inflammatory medications may be recommended by your doctor. Athletes diagnosed with turf toe should avoid their sport for about three weeks to allow the joint capsule to heal. Once returning to activities, special inserts can be used to limit the motion of the big toe and prevent further damage to the joint capsule.

Unfortunately, turf toe can return, and rehabilitation may be slow. Surgery is rarely needed for treatment of turf toe, but in certain cases it may be helpful. If a bone spur forms, and severely limits motion of the toe joint, surgery to remove the spur may be helpful.

I got turf toe in wrestling practice about 10 years ago. We were running sprints, down and back. I would push off the wall to start sprinting back with my foot, and basically hyper-extended my big toe. Hurt like a mother - I could hardly bend my toe without pain. I STILL have effects of it, 10 years later. Not every day, mind you, but if I step funny, I can feel that sharp pain right on the ball of my big toe.

You can play through it, it's basically a pain management issue. I have played indoor soccer with it, you just have to work through it. I imagine it would effect a WR more than a RB; RB running is more instinctual so you have less time to think about the pain, where I could see it affecting a WR's concentration and effect route running and focus.

edit to add: I'm not exactly the kind of guy to properly care for an injury and my schools training staff was more focused on the hockey team. In hindsight, I probably didn't do any re-hab; I certainly didn't take any time off to let it heal. I'm sure pro athletes with the best of medicine can take care of an injury better than I can.

Come on Lendale. I know you're an immature head case, but I drafted you in my keeper league for a reason. Now do something if you get an opportunity.

Turf toe ended the career of one of the toughest guys to ever put on a uniform.

Jack Lambert. :football:

Bump....any more news from Titan homers on who's starting or who's hurt or who's benched or who's....I'm thinking that I don't want any Titans on my roster.

Eddie George suffered from it I believe. I could have sworn that Lendale had been slowed by a mild case of it (though maybe it was just a toe injury). Brown has suffered from it before I think. Henry now as well. Is it a case of the kind of turf they have?

Chris Brown is not even on the injury report. I think early word came out wrong and reported T. Henry's Turf Toe w/ Chris Brown too. Just a thought, but considering that Brown's injury is not listed anywhere except for the Mon/Tues and it came out when Henry's was reported...not so sure he's hurt at all. Miracle do happen! ;)

Lucky Chris Brown - he'll wish he had turf toe after the Charger D gets through with him on Sunday. :football:
